Pioli To Chiefs

New England Patriots vice president of player personnel Scott Pioli has agreed to become head of football operations for the Kansas City Chiefs, two NFL sources confirmed to ESPN's Michael Smith.

This is an excellent move as Pioli was the mastermind behind the Patriots. The Chiefs have a very good core group of players on both ends of the field and I believe he can work wonders with this team. We saw Tyler Thigpen come into his own, Dwayne Bowe turn into a good wide receiver, and depending on what happens with LJ, have a reliable run game. This move probably means that Herm Edwards is gone. I think the Chiefs are a team in progress, but can be the next surprise team in the NFL next year.

BMack's Take:

The Patriots have already lost a offensive coordinator, and now will have to endure the loss of Pioli. Pioli has been nothing short of amazing during his 9 years with the Patriots, and it is a sad day to see him go. In the end, we all knew this day would come, since he really has out grown the Patriots. It will be interesting to see if the Patriots draft strategy changes now that Pioli's gone, and it will be hard to replace his ability to evaluate talent.

The Chiefs are heading in the right direction, and now that they got rid of Edwards, I agree with DP, that they may be a surprise team next year. The Chiefs lost a lot of games by a touchdown or less, and I blame a lot of that on Edwards, now that he is gone, and if Pioli can add some more talent they could have a very solid base.
