Lester Arrives in Fort Myers

Think Lester is just going to ride out his success from last season? Think again. The Sox talented lefthander showed up at the spring training facility today more than 8 days before pitchers and catchers report.

"It's kind of a routine now," said Lester. "End of January comes, it's time to start packing up and heading down. It's something that I enjoy doing. I get used to being on the grass and in the sun...it's just nice to be able to get down here (Boston Globe)."

This is the kind of thing you want to hear from a young pitcher. He knows how good he can be, and is not ready to settle on how good he is now. Many scouts are predicting that this kid will be a Cy Young candidate year after year.

We also got to hear that he is happy to have Tek back. I am sure this is something every player has to say, but being a young pitcher it must be nice to have the same guy behind the plate year after year (especially if you have had success with him in the past).

"With Tek signing last week, it's a definite boost to our club," said Lester. "He came to my wedding a couple weeks ago. I talked to him just briefly. I know how it is. You don't want to talk about that stuff in the offseason...I just asked him how the process was going, and he said, 'It's going.' I kind of hit him on the chest and said, 'I hope you're back.' That was it (Boston Globe)."
