"The Orlando Magic have retained Polish center Marcin Gortat, matching the $34 million, five-year deal offered by the Dallas Mavericks to the restricted free agent (Sportsline)."
Good move by the Magic and this should really help keep their bench strong. Still this is somewhat strange, since Gortat seems to not be happy at all that the Magic are bringing him back. Look at his agents comments...
"Gortat's agent, Guy Zucker, said the center "was definitely very disappointed today." He said Gortat was back in his native Poland, where he'd already been telling everyone he was headed to the Mavericks."
He really wanted to go to the Mavs so he could have a shot at getting a starting gig. Now he is locked up for the next 5 year and with Howard there it could be very tough to ever get into the starting lineup. Not really much he can do, but still a good move by the Magic.
