Paul Byrd Comeback Update

"The Red Sox could have Paul Byrd on their big league roster by the end of the month. The veteran right-hander pitched four innings for Triple-A Pawtucket on Wednesday night, throwing 74 pitches, and said he is closing in on a return. "I probably need one more [start], one more for sure," Byrd told the Providence Journal. "But after that, probably not. I'd like to get my pitch count up into the 90s, I'd like to see that slider get a hair better, and we'll probably go from there (ESPN)."

I don't know about everyone else, but I really don't want to see Byrd back in the a Sox uniform. By the time he is ready Dice-K should be close, and the Wake could already be back in the rotation. Plus I think Tazawa is just as good, though they could be worried about his innings. I don't know, but this just seems like a waste unless they plan on just using him for a start or two to buy a little more time for Dice-K.
