I think it's all time we stop calling Josh Beckett an "ace" or even reliable now. In wake of him receiving a contract extension he throws a stinker against the Yankees on opening night. I know this is only one start for this season, and I don't even care to much about yesterday, this just gave me an excuse to go off on him because I have been saying it for years. He is no longer a "ace" nor a big time playoff pitcher. He has a career era of 4 for the Sox and the last two playoffs he has eras of 8.79 and 5.40, so anyone arguing can throw away the notion of a "big game" pitcher. Before we shell out 70 million for this fag, we need to realize by the time this deal in place expires he will be no more than a 3 starter. This is really Jon Lester's team, Beckett is just a compliment to him at this point. If I were the Sox I would try an trade Beckett, hell I would just trade him for prospects at this point. You will all see how washed up this guy is as the season progresses. I hope I eat my words, I do, but I've been seeing him struggle for the past two years, and when it matters the most. The playoffs. Ship this bum to the Nationals.
