Titans Won't Bring Back Vince Young

30-17 is Vince Young's career record as a Titan. And now he's gone.

Titans owner Bud Adams says it's time to let Vince Young go and for the franchise to find its next quarterback.

I like Vince a lot and believe he can be a good QB, but there have been so many issues with him, that it's most likely better for both parties to separate. I know he was due to for a salary increase but still, you basically are throwing any chance of winning out the window by releasing him. This leads me to wonder if the Titans are going to keep Jeff Fisher. If I were Bud Adams, I would most likely get rid of both of them and start over.

I could see Young going to the NFC west where he would thrive there.

Young Vs. Fisher Continues

"The soap opera between Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher and quarterback Vince Young took another exciting turn on Sunday, during the team's win over the Houston Texans.

David Climer of the Tennessean reports that Young arrived at halftime, and watched the third quarter and part of the fourth from the sidelines before an early exit. Even more interesting Fisher didn't know that Young was there.

Asked if it was strange for a player on IR to arrive late or leave early, Fisher responded, "You know, they're pretty much on their own. Most injured reserve players, not all of them but most of them, are here. They come before the game starts; they stay until it's over with. I didn't even know [Young] was here (ESPN)."

At this point we know one of them is going to have to go, and if it was up to me it would be Fisher. I don't believe in a lot of the things Young has done, but he has proven to be a winner, and I still think their best chance to win is with him on the field. Fisher is a very respected coach, but that team just seems to be flat, and for all the praise he gets he's never won a Super Bowl. I think it is time for this franchise to part ways. I still believe that Fisher is a good coach, but sometimes a relationship can grow stale, and I think that is happening.

Vince Young Put On Season Ending IR

Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher said Vince Young needs season-ending surgery on his throwing hand. Not that being healthy would have kept the quarterback in the Titans' starting lineup.

Young saw a hand specialist Monday, and Fisher said team doctors recommended the surgery to repair Young's torn flexor tendon in his right thumb. Young was injured late in the third quarter of Sunday's 19-16 overtime loss to Washington. ESPN

It looks like the big decision after this year is on Bud Adams, who has to choose between Jeff Fisher and Vince Young. It is hard to believe that Fisher can co-exist with a player he believes ran out on his team on Sunday.

This is what Adams said about the incident.
"I just want them to get over it," said Adams of the recent controversy. "It is like you made the wrong turn and went down the wrong highway and you were upset because someone caused you to do it, but when it is all over with you didn't have a wreck. You just have to sleep on it and do better the next day."

On any other team it would obviously be Fisher that gets selected, but Bud Adams has always had Vince Young's back and this could get interesting.

Vince Young Done As A Titan (UPDATED)

Yesterday we witnessed the end of the Vince Young era in Tennessee. He might be knocked out for the year if he needs surgery, but even if he is healthy there is no way Jeff Fisher is going to let him play again after his actions yesterday.

As you have probably heard by now Vince Young was not happy that he was pulled from the game after tearing a tendon in his right thumb. Fisher felt he couldn't get a good grip on the ball, and thus pulled him.

"After the game, Young walked toward the tunnel and suddenly tossed his shoulder pads and jersey into the stands. When the team gathered in the locker room following the loss, Young began muttering and cursing under his breath as Fisher addressed the team, the Tennessean reported Sunday night.

After Fisher asked Young to be quiet, the paper said, the quarterback finished dressing and prepared to leave the room. Fisher told Young to stop and not to "run out on your teammates," sources told The Tennessean. Young told Fisher, "I'm not running out on my teammates, I'm running out on you," the paper said.

Young then left the locker room and ignored media members as Titans safety and former University of Texas teammate Michael Griffin chased after him. The Tennessean reported that Griffin was seen confronting Young in the players' parking lot.

Griffin reportedly pleaded with Young, "You can't leave, you can't do this," before Young shrugged and left (ESPN)."

In a small way I understand Young's frustration. I don't feel like Fisher has ever really treated him fair. He seems to be on the verge of pulling him all the time, even though he seems to win game after game for them. Still, this is unacceptable.

Vince Young is unstable. There were rumors before that he tried to kill himself, so his actions this time around can't be taken lightly. Young is due over $12 million, so you know there is no way that they will bring him back. What I am worried about is the fact that we might just watch him completely fall apart. I still think he is a winner, but he needs to find the right situation, and get his head on straight, because giving up on your team and throwing your shoulder pads into the stands is no way for a franchise QB to act.

***UPDATE***

Now it sounds like Vince Young didn't throw is pads into the stands...

"According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, not only did Vince Young not throw his shoulder pads into the stands after the loss (as has been reported elsewhere), but his jersey wasn't "thrown," either. He gave it to the daughter of the Titans' executive vice president. "She's been very supportive of me," Young said, per Schefter (ESPN)."

Even if this is true swearing at your coach, and walking out of your team is going to cost him his starting job (if his injury doesn't first).

Heisman Trust Vacates 2005 Award

Even though Vince Young says that he doesn't want the Heisman, I'm sure he would have gladly accepted it if they gave it to him. I don't like leaving the 2005 Heisman winner vacant. I think it's more of a slap in Reggie Bush's face if they leave it empty, because it will always be the elephant in the room come Heisman presentation ceremony.

The funny thing about all of this is Pete Carroll's reaction:
"Reggie's got to do what he's got to do on this stuff and make his determination," Bush's former college coach, Pete Carroll, said Wednesday.

"I support whatever he's doing. I'm sure he's figured it out and he's living it. I'm not really focused on it. There's nothing I can really do about that," the new Seattle Seahawks coach added. "All of our attention is on Denver and getting ready for the game. I wish him the best and hope they figure it all out."

He's laughing because he got away with all of this and nothing happened to him.

Reggie Bush Gives Up His Heisman

Reggie Bush gave up his 2005 Heisman and I think that's bullshit. He was obviously pushed by the Heisman committee to give it back and he did it just to appease them.

It's an individual award and he had the "best" year that year, so he still deserves it. If you think other Heisman recipients never received anything extra when they were at school, you're retarded. There is no way Desmond Howard made it through Michigan without any extra incentives.

Now that he gave it back the big debate is Vince Young. Not only do I think he deserved it more than Bush in 2005, but if they don't give it to him now, I'll throw a hissy fit. If you want to see my case and point, go back and watch the 2005 Rose Bowl, when Young outplayed Bush on the biggest stage in college football.

One of the best memories I have from that game is after when Vince took the crystal ball and did the Heisman pose with it.

Bush's Heisman Vacated

After a long investigation which cost USC to vacate the 2005 wins, be on 4 years of probation and 2 years of being banned from bowls, it seems the final step was to strip the Heisman Trophy from Reggie Bush. I personally find this BS, Reggie Bush was a kid back then and did what was best for himself. Which I'm alright with. You can knock off wins, and put the school on probation but taking away individual achievements is BS. But since Bush is getting stripped of it, does this mean that Vince Young will now receive it? He finished 2nd in voting and during that year I felt Young should have won it anyways. I know during that time, he felt slighted for not getting it, so they should at least give it to him.

Vince Young is 5-0

Here is "the drive":

I find it interesting he went all Rose Bowl over Matt Lienart again.

Titans Finally Start Vince Young

"Vince Young will start for the winless Tennessee Titans on Sunday when they face the Jacksonville Jaguars at LP Field, according to a report in The (Nashville) Tennessean. Titans coach Jeff Fisher is expected to announce Thursday afternoon that Young gets the nod over incumbent Kerry Collins. The Tennessean has reported that owner Bud Adams told Fisher he prefers that Young is in the lineup (ESPN)."

It is about time. Collins is all done, and this teams season is already over. The Titans need to evaluate their talent, because they are going to have a very good draft pick coming up in next year's draft. If Vince Young wants to be a starting QB in this league he is going to have to prove to them that he can be a franchise QB. I don't think Vince Young can do it, but I agree that you have to at least give him a shot...

Owner Says Start Vince

Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher is still sticking with Kerry Collins as his starting quarterback if you believe everything that the coach has said following the horrible beating his team took against the Patriots in Week 6, including his vague comments on Monday. This is in spite of increased pressure from fans and, much more vitally, Titans owner Bud Adams to give Vince Young his chance at redemption.ESPN

I don't really know what Fisher is doing. It almost seems as if he is trying to get fired. Vince Young may have not had the prettiest stats but all he did for the Titans is bring them to the playoffs. I still have faith in him and believe he can be a successful career in the NFL. He should be given that opportunity to prove himself, because continuously starting Kerry Collins is embarrassing.

Fisher STILL Sticking With Collins?

"Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher is still sticking with Kerry Collins as his starting quarterback if you believe everything that the coach has said in the past few days. This is in spite of increased pressure from fans and, much more vitally, Titans owner Bud Adams to give Vince Young his chance at redemption.

We've been waiting to hear from Collins, and he spoke with the Nashville Tennessean on Wednesday. "I haven't gotten any indication from [coach Fisher] of a change," Collins noted (ESPN)."

I really hope this is totally bogus. I like Fisher a lot, but he is being retarded. He might be right that Young will never be anything, but you know what you are going to get from Collins, and this year is already over, it is time to evaluate the talent on your roster. With so many good QBs coming out in next year's draft you have to find out if Young is the real deal. Even if Fisher has given up on him they should put him in for a possible trade, because right now his value can't get much lower...

Vince Young Still Not Starting

"Yesterday, Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennessean wrote that the calls for VY to replace Kerry Collins as the team's starter are only going to intensify this week. But according to what Fisher said in a press conference on Monday, however, we shouldn't expect No. 10 to be the starter this Sunday. "We have to improve as a team and that is what we are working on," Fisher said. "Kerry is not the reason. Our football team is the reason we're at where we're at, not the quarterback position." While saying that he wouldn't make the switch this week, he left open the possibility of making the switch at some point this season, but also said he might not make the switch at all (ESPN)."

I wrote about this yesterday, and it is obvious to me that Young HAS to start. The Titans season is over. Collins is not the long term answer at QB, and the Titans really need to evaluate what they can get from Vince Young. I am not a Young believer, but you need to give this kid one more shot before you use your top 5 draft pick (that they will most likely be getting) on another QB. I always had a lot of respect for Fisher, but this seems stupid to me...

Vince Young To Start

"After hearing chants of "We want Vince!" from the crowd throughout the game, Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher finally relented in the fourth quarter, inserting Vince Young into the game to the delight of the folks who hadn't deserted LP Field. Unfortunately, the game was already clearly in hand for the Indianapolis Colts, so it wasn't a great barometer for what No. 10 might be able to do with the Titans' offense. On the other hand, Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennessean thinks that the calls for VY to replace Kerry Collins as the team's starter are only going to intensify this week. As Cris Collinsworth noted during the telecast last night, the fortunate thing for Tennessee given their QB struggles is that they keep losing, which gives them a shot to take one of the top college QBs in the 2010 draft (ESPN)."

Do I believe in Vince Young? No, but that doesn't make me disagree with the Titans fans. The Titans need to be rebuilt and the first thing you want to do before starting the rebuilding process is evaluate what you have on your team. You know what you're going to get from Collins and at this point his career is not going to suddenly take off. The truth is you have no idea what you are going to get from Vince Young. I am not sold he is going to be anything special, but you need to find out now, because the Titans are looking like they are going to have a top 5 pick, and their are going to be a lot of top notch QBs in next years draft, so with that being said the Titans need to find out if Vince Young is the future. Now is the time to find out what this kid can do...

Vince Young Wants To Play

Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young isn't saying play me or trade me, but he's coming pretty close.

In an interview with Baltimore's WMAR-TV, Young said if he doesn't win back his starting job, he wants to move on. The problem is that Kerry Collins is still the starter.

"I definitely want to get back out there playing ball and picking up where I left off, winning games and having a good time with my teammates and with the fans," Young said, according to the television station. "At the same time, if them guys don't want me to be in there, it's time for me to make a career change for myself. Because the fact is I'm ready to play ball. If they're not ready for me to play ball, then somebody is."

I know I'm in the minority when it comes to this but I think Vince Young can still win some football games. I don't know what happened to him last year, but he is back and seemingly fine. With a heavy running game Vince can thrive with this Titans offense. he is a better passer than Kerry Collins, and may actually be able to win you games rather than just holding the lead. So I agree with Vince's demands, but if the Titans do too. He better better put up or shut up.

Collins To Start Next Year

There are reports that coach Jeff Fisher told QB Kerry Collins that he will be the starter next year. Jeff Fisher is a great coach, however, this is just the wrong move. Collins had a productive this year, but it wasn't that great. When he is starting a lot of things have to fall in place for the Titans to get the W. The first is that he can't win a game by himself so the running game has to be effective to set up the play action, and the defense has to be dominant. If that doesn't happen Collins can't shoulder the load. Vince Young may not be the answer but at least he is a more explosive option. Everyone forgets that Vince Young was able to bring the Titans to the playoffs a couple of years ago, and that he can actually play football. Collins had a nice year, but Young is the future and Fisher needs to go to him.

Vince Young Still The Future

Vince Young is still the QB of the future of the Tennessee Titans. After a tumultuous season, it is good to see the Titans are still keeping the faith with the guy they drafted. I think Young needed this year to clear his head, and after witnessing success from the sidelines, I believe he is going to strive for that next year. Vince is still an unbelievable talent and if he can put it together I believe he will be the quarterback I thought he would be.

Collins Starting QB Of Titans Even When Young Comes Back

How far Vince Young has fallen in only a couple of days. First he gets hurt, and is out for at least a month. Then Young became suicidal, and the Titans have to call the police to find him. Now, its seems like Fisher has lost faith in Young, and is going to go with the veteran QB Collins for the rest of the year. I actually agree with this. This team is way too good to have an unpredictable QB like Young. He has been terrible for 2 years now, and it is time to give the ball to someone who won't cost you the game. I don't thin Collins will win them many games, but this defense is so good that he won't need to. Their running game is outstanding and I think with Collins at QB this team could be a Super Bowl caliber team.

Vince Young Suicide Watch

According to ESPN, "According to Nashville Metro Police spokesman Don Aaron, Young "abruptly" left his home in Williamson County at around 7 p.m. Monday without his cell phone. Those with him at his home, including family members, were "concerned with his emotional well-being," Aaron said. and Police issued a bulletin to all on-duty officers to be on the lookout for Young and negotiators were also placed on stand-by, a procedure that is common in such situations, Aaron said."

Oh no. If anyone has been following this web-site, they know I have an ungodly amount of faith in Vince Young, but this doesn't sound that great. In fact, it sounds terrible. Vince hasn't lived up to expectations coming out of Texas and the pressure might be too much. No one calls the police if someone is bummed out, Vince Young is flat out on suicide watch.

Vince has said some odd things this off-season, including threatening to retire. His maturity has always been in question, but I hope for the Titans and Vince Young's sake he is able to shake this and right the ship.

Vince Young Falling Apart?

There are reports coming from multiple news sources that the Titans had to contact police to find Vince Young.

The Titans described Young as "emotionally down", and people close to Young were concerned about his state of mind. During the Titans last game, Vince Young threw two interceptions, then came to the sidelines emotionally shaken up, as the fans booed him off the field. Fisher (the Titans coach) had to force him to go back on the field, as Young kept coming up with different reasons why he couldn't play (tight hamstring, sore arm, etc.).

Finally he did go back onto the field, only to endure a knee injury. Young is now out for probably a month. I really never thought Vince Young was this easily shaken up. After watching his great win over USC in college, I thought he was one of the more courageous players that would be in the NFL, but now he kind of sounds like Dave Chappelle when he took off to South Africa because he couldn't deal with the pressure.
