"The New York Mets agreed to a three-year deal with free-agent closer Francisco Rodriguez, a source told ESPN on Tuesday. Rodriguez's deal, worth $37 million plus additional incentives, is pending a physical, which the New York Post reported will take place Wednesday (ESPN)."
The Mets needed a closer, since Wagner is all done, and now they got one. He led the league in saves last year, but there are some questions about how he will hold up over the next couple of years. His velocity has been decreasing over the last 2 seasons, and the Angels were sure to only use him for an inning a game (sometimes less). Still, he is a very good closer, and Mets fans should be happy to get him. My advice to the Mets is not to stop there, because K-Rod needs to be surrounded by a couple strong setup men to be effective.
