99 Boston, 92 Dallas

If anyone missed last nights game, they missed the most impressive win of the Celtics season. Dallas gave the Celtics everything they had, and the Celtics proved again why they are the defending champions. The greatest thing about this team is that they play for 48 minutes, while other teams lose gas. The Celtics were looking up at the Mavs the whole game as they were down by 15 at one point, they didn't have Doc because he got ejected, and Dirk was on top of his game, however, there is one thing that got lost in the Mavs playbook. How do you stop Paul Pierce. The Truth was absolutely fantastic Thursday night. After coming off a night that he dropped 30 against the Hornets, he dropped 31 on Dallas, and it seemed like he scored every point in the 4th quarter. Pierce scored 18 of his 31 points in the fourth quarter, but gave plenty of credit to his argumentative coach.

"It gave us a nice little spark," Pierce said. "It can go one of two ways. The coach is gone in the last game before the All-Star break, you can pack it in. But this group is very competitive. We're going to fight."

It's true, many teams would have laid down after being down 15 the game before the All Star break, but not the Celtics. Heart like this is the reason why they are going to win a championship.

Ray Allen was thought to be questionable to play tonight due to his thumb injury, but he was able to shake it off and drop 20, including a lot of clutch free throws.

And the other guy I have to give a shout out is Rajon Rondo. Even though my Gabe Pruitt Tommy Award was completely wrong, this guy made me glad I was wrong. Rondo had a monster game in which he fucked around and got a triple double. Rondo finished with 19 points, 15 rebounds and 14 assists, including some crucial jump shots. It was good to see the young man finish the half season with style and now he can go home and nap a bunch during All-Star weekend.
