Rangers Make Play For Beltre

ESPN's Karl Revech tweets Monday that the Rangers have made an "aggressive play" for Beltre.

I don't like this at all, because most likely it means the Yankees are getting closer to signing Cliff Lee. Scott Boras is seeking a deal in the five-year, $75-million range for Beltre, which I think is ridiculous.

The Rangers still have Michael Young under contract for three more seasons, so if they acquire Beltre they'd either need to trade Young or use him as a DH.

Anyways, we will keep you updated as this story develops, but if this rumor is true it doesn't look good for Rangers fans that were helping to hold on to Cliff Lee.
