Cashman On His Way Out?

Things don't seem to be very happy in Yankee land. After the Yankee lost out on Lee, Crawford, overpaying for Jeter, and having to deal with whatever is going on with Pettitte, one would think because of their past history that heads were going to roll.

Well, it's starting to look like that is going to happen...

"Cashman's decision to go public with his disagreements "were a sign of larger disputes within the Yankee front office," says CBSSports.com's Danny Knobler. Sources in the Yankee organization tell Knobler that ownership wasn't pleased with recent Cashman acquisitions like Randy Winn, Javier Vazquez and Nick Johnson (MLBTradeRumors)."

The "decision" that they are talking about is the signing of Soriano. Cashman has come out and stated that he was not a fan of the signing and refused to have anything to do with it. He didn't think it was a good idea to pay a non-closer closer money, and also didn't want to give up a draft pick. Yet, the Yankees front office (Hal Steinbrenner and Randy Levine) did it anyways.

I am not sure what will happen first. The Yankee fire Cashman, or he walks, but whatever the outcome I think this will be his last season with the embattled club.

Cashman A Thorn In The Red Sox Side

Sox tried to put Chris Carter through waivers to make him the player to be named later in the Wagner trade. Cashman claimed him, forcing the Sox to basically keep Carter on their 40 man at least until the end of the year. Mets will still be able to acquire him over the winter, but now the Sox roster flexibility is a little less than it would be. Someone else will have to be taken off the 40 man in order to put Byrd on.

Man this this fucking annoying. It is a good move by the Yankees, and you would have to think Theo is just fucking pissed, but I respect it...

Yankees Give Cashman a 3 Years Deal

The New York Yankees Signed GM Brian Cashman to a three year deal. I guess it is a good thing to stick by a guy (usually the Yankees don't), but I am still really surprised the Yankees are bringing him back. The Yankees are coming off their first missed playoffs since 1993, and they bring back their GM? The Yankees are going to have a good amount of free money this offseason, since Giambi, Mussina, Abreu are coming off the payroll. Cashman will have his work cut out for him, since not only does he need to figure out what players to sign, but he also needs to make a decision on what to do with this young talent. Last offseason he had the chance to trade players like Hughes and Kennedy for Johan Santana. He turned it down, and now it is looking like neither of those players are going to work out (still some hope for Hughes). So, once again I am really surprised they are bringing this guy back.
