Cedric Benson Goes To Jail.... Again

With all the Steelers getting framed for things the passed couple of offseasons, it's finally good to see the police finally arrested a criminal.

Travis County sheriff's spokesman Roger Wade said Benson was arrested in downtown Austin on a misdemeanor count of assault with bodily injury with family violence. Benson attorney Sam Bassett said in a statement the arrest followed "a conflict" between Benson and a male former roommate. ESPN

This isn't good for Benson figuring he is an unrestricted free agent, and the end is in sights for the lock out. Figuring there are going to be a lot of fines/ suspensions once the lock out is lifted I expect Cedric to be suspended for a game, due to his continuous awful off field issues.

Forgetting about this, any team that gets Benson will have a quality runningback. He has rejuvenated his career in Cincinnati and will be a high priority free agent, so it will be interesting if this incident effects that at all.

Just Another Classy Bengal

Cincinnati Bengals running back Cedric Benson was arrested Tuesday and charged with misdemeanor assault for allegedly punching a bar employee in the face nearly a month ago.

Another day, another Bengal on the wrong side of the law. The NFL will probably suspended him a couple games, but at this point what else can they do. It seems like every year the NFL is getting worse and worse with these kinds of stories. I mean just the Bengals alone are a black eye to the NFL. It is a joke that it is that hard for these guys to not be fuck-ups, but I guess that'll never change.

Cedric Benson To Play This Week

"Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said Monday that RB Cedric Benson would return to the starting lineup in Week 13 against the Lions. He's been battling a hip sprain. Benson practiced late last week and was believed to be a candidate to start against the Browns but was ruled inactive before kickoff. Benson's return should signal far fewer carries for Cincinnati backup running backs Bernard Scott, Larry Johnson and Brian Leonard (CBSSports)."

It sounds like Benson is fine, but I doubt he will be getting a lot of carries this week vs. the Lions. The Bengals should be able to put this game away early, and there will be no reason to risk another injury with him. The Bengals basically have the AFC North all wrapped up, and now will battle for the bye week (opposite the Colts) with teams like the Chargers and Patriots.

Larry Johnson About To Sign With Bengals (UPDATED)

"Former Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson was en route to Cincinnati on Monday and, barring a last-minute breakdown, he expects to sign with the AFC North-leading Bengals, a source familiar with the negotiations told ESPN's Michael Smith. A deal, if consummated, is expected to be for the prorated league minimum. The Bengals, along with several other teams, first expressed interest in Johnson last week as depth behind Cedric Benson, who suffered a hip injury in Sunday's 18-12 victory at Pittsburgh (ESPN)."

This move is made to keep the Bengals secure in case Benson is out for awhile. It would scare me a little bit to add a fucking punk like this to a team that has a way too many thug problems in the past, but if the honeymoon period can last through the season and Johnson can prove he has anything left in the tank, then this is a great signing. You have to wonder if the Bengals are really worried about when Benson can come back...

Bengals Sign Benson

The Bengals signed RB Cedric Benson today. Benson was a first round pick of the Bears in 2005, but has been a giant waste of space, and I don't expect much to change. The Bengals are going down in flames and signing bust running backs is not going to stop it. Marvin Lewis is going to be fired by the end of the year, and this roster needs a complete overhaul. It will fun to watch two bust running backs in Chris Perry, and Cedric Benson get destroyed by defenses.

Cedric Benson is Gone

Draft Bust Cedric Benson is out of Chicago. You can't blame them either, this guy has been a terrible football player and nuisance off the field. For a 4th over-all pick in the draft he has been terrible, in three years with the Bears he only ran for 1593 yards. The Bears probably were looking for a reason to cut him and this was perfect, two DWI's in one summer is pretty reckless. All the Bears need to do now is cut Rex Grossman and they will rid themselves of the two worse players on the team.

Oh yea, Matt Forte (second round pick for Bears) will now be the starting running back.
