Bracket Updates

DP's

BMack

Well there is no way I can lose with all of BMacks teams not advancing and with me having Kentucky winning the championship. So if Kentucky losses we tie, if Kentucky wins I win. I'm fine with all of it resting on Kentucky's shoulders.

Top 5 DC Challenge
Group Standings
Rank Team Name Score Correct Best Score Best Correct Champion
1 John Swenson 63 42 69 43 Kansas (155)
2 josh dixon 60 37 74 39 Kentucky (163)
3 dan ebner 55 39 55 39 San Diego St. (134)
3 Stephanie Fiandaca 55 38 55 38 Kansas (151)

Josh Dixon has the best chance to win it all with Kentucky still in it.

Bracket Time!

Here is mine motherlovers I'm 0-3 in the past 3 years against BMack but the Golden Ticket is in with little to no thinking and I'm very confident this will bring me to greatness. Kentucky is poised to make a run and I feel like with Chris Wright back Georgetown can make some noise. Also feel K State and Frank Martin will be able to have K-State play like they should have all year, plus Jacob Pullen's beard deserves some love. As for Temple..... I was feeling it at the time.

I may be stupid with the Notre Dame 1 and done, but I told myself last year I would make them pay for what they did to me.

My Bracket (DP)

After thinking long and hard (or just going with what feels right), here is the first sneak peak of the 2010 Golden Ticket. Probably my most conservative bracket thus far. I'm pissed that Duke has such an easy road to the elite eight, but don't worry Villanova will take them out. I'm also a little concerned that Kansas has such a tough bracket.

Paul Pierce Day To Day With Foot Strain

Thank god!
The Truth on have a strained foot and is considered day to day.

If Paul Pierce had broken his foot which we the grumblings earlier on in the day this post would have been a lot more frantic and sweary. However, the Truth is only going to be out a couple of games and probably be back on the weekend. If he was going to be out for an extended period of time, I was going to say to pack it in, forget about trading anyone at the deadline and lets just let our expiring contract expire. However, the Celtis will be fine, let's take our finger off the panic button and just get healthy for after the All Star break.

Who To Watch For The 7:00 Games

(7) Boston College vs (10) USC
For BC
Tyrese Rice G 17.1
Joe Trapani F 13.5
Rakim Sanders G-F 13.0

For USC
Taj Gibson F 14.3
Dwight Lewis G 14.1
DeMar DeRozan F 13.6
Daniel Hackett G 12.5
Both teams are surprise teams. BC has beat the likes of UNC and Duke, but has lost to Harvard and USC won the Pac 10 which is weird figuring Washington plays there.

(4) Xavier vs (13) Portland State
For Xavier
B.J. Raymond G-F 14.1
Derrick Brown F 13.8
C.J. Anderson G-F 10.0

For Portland State
Jeremiah DominguezG 12.9
Dominic Waters G 11.5
Phil Nelson F 11.2
Andre Murray G 11.0

Xavier is one of the most overlooked programs in America. Portland State is your token Cinderella.

(5) Utah vs (12) Arizona
For Utah
Luke Nevill C 16.9
Lawrence Borha G 11.7
Shaun Green F 10.4
Tyler Kepkay G 10.1

For Arizona
Jordan Hill F 18.5
Chase Budinger F 17.9
Nic Wise G 15.1

Arizona is a controversial team for just being in the tournament, yet I smell upset.

(1) Louisville vs (16) Morehead State
For Louisville
Earl Clark G-F 14.0
Terrence WilliamsF 12.3
Samardo Samuels F 11.9

For Morehead
Leon Buchanan F 15.1
Kenneth Faried F-C 13.9
Maze Stallworth F 12.0

Morehead State is a funny name.

Afternoon Game Recaps: Fuck You Pittsburgh

(1) Pittsburgh 72, (16) East Tennessee State 62
Pittsburgh tried. They tried to fuck me and everyone's bracket but luckily they didn't. Pittsburgh had a lack of emotion and care in this game and they almost paid dearly. Luckily DeJuan Blair was the only one who cared as he went for 27 points and 16 rebounds. Either way, fuck you Pittsburgh.

(11) Dayton 68, (6) West Virginia 60
This game was the most frustrating game to watch as Bob Huggins got rid of any ounce of faith I had in him as a coach. West Virginia kept getting the game to two points but couldn't get over the hump. Dayton's Charles Little (and Dueling Couches reader) scored 18 points, and Chris Wright dropped 27. Even though West Virginia should have fouled when there was 2 minutes left, they didn't and that is why they are one and done.

Mizzou Handled Cornell and Arizona State handled Temple.

I only got Illinois wrong, but Bob's late games killed him. Anyways, here they are updated.

What To Watch For In The Early Games

(3) Cuse vs (14) Stephen F. Austin
Syracuse is a very offensive orientated team and Stephen F. Austin is all about defense. The players you want to look out for on both teams is Forward Johnny Flynn and thug/ girl beater Guard Eric Devendorf who are averaging 17 and 16 points. For Stephen F. Austin their stars are Center Matt Kingsley averaging 16 points and Forward Jash Alexander averaging 15. But like I said they are a very defensive team. S.F.Austin also has the smallest player in the NCAA in Eric Bell who is 5-3.

(9) Tennessee vs (8) Oklahoma State
This will be the most interesting game of the early games. Tennessee lost Chris Lofton who had a knack for the drama, but the still have Tyler Smith F 17.2 and
Wayne Chism F 13.8(who always is good for a few chuckles) and OK State who reminds me of that Villanova team a couple years ago because they have 4 amazing guards in James Anderson G 18.6, Byron Eaton G 14.1, Terrel Harris G 13.8, Obi Muonelo G 12.6.

(14) North Dakota State University vs (3) Kansas
Classic underdog story here, N.D.S.U can score a lot verse the defending champs. North Dakota State is led by G Ben Woodside who averaged 22 and F Brett Winkelman who averaged 18. For Kansas they have played terrific figuring they lost almost everyone last year. Kansas stars are G Sherron Collins and C Cole Aldrich averaging 14. I expect Kansas to win this easily.

(11) Utah State vs (6) Marquette

Marquette has been able to have an incredible year without star guard Dominic James, so this tournament will be difficult without them and starting with Utah State will be no easy task. The Utah State Aggies are led by Gary Wilkinson F 17.1, Jared Quayle G 12.9 and Marquette is led by Jerel McNeal G 19.7, Wesley Matthews G 18.4, Lazar Hayward F 16.1. The last time we saw Marquette was in the big east tourney where they lost a comeback at the last second.

Late Afternoon Games

(10) Michigan 62, (7) Clemson 59

What a game. Clemson's half court offense scared the shit out of me, but Michigan and Manny Harris was able to quiet the Clemson Tigers. Manny Harris was phenomenal as he was 7-15 shooting for 23 points, including a and 1 with the time running out. Hell of a game. Good luck against Oklahoma.

(3) Villanova 78, (14) American 65

Villanova gave me a scare as they were down big at half time, but late in the second everything clicked for them. They went on this ridiculous run, while American coach left prolific scorer Garrison Carr on the bench. It was a questionable move for me too. Dwayne Anderson and Dante Cunningham scored 25 a piece for Nova and ultimately shut uo the feisty underdogs.

(7) Texas 76, (10) Minnesota 62

Another game that was close early, but then Texas just caught fire. AJ Abrams had 26 points hitting 8-15 from beyond the arc for Texas. Minnesota seemed to run out of steam 13 minutes into the second half ultimately leading to their demise.

(4) Gonzaga A Lot, (13) Akron A Little

Game was close, Gonzaga just caught fire. Game over.

Oh yea, I'm 12 for 12 today thus far.

DP's 08 Midwest Bracket

Here is some reasoning for my Midwest prediction:
1.KU vs 16. Portland St.
Prediction: KU
Kansas has a very strong starting 5 and I don't think this will be the 16 over 1 upset.
2. Georgetown vs 15. UMBC
Prediction: Georgetown
I have Georgetown winning the whole thing, so this UMBC doesn't have a chance.
3. Wisconsin vs 14. CSF
Prediction: Wisconsin
Bo Ryan did the Superman dance
4. Vandy vs 13. Siena
Vandy was potentially the best team in the SEC and Sinea will be unable to slow them down.
5. Clemson vs 12. Villanova
Prediction: Clemson
Clemson had an incredible ACC run in the tourney, so look for that momentum to carry over against Nova.
6. USC vs 11 K State
Prediction: USC
I hated making this decision, Beasley vs Mayo. I am picking Mayo on this one even though I had K-State going to the Final Four a couple days ago.
7. Gonzaga vs 10 Davidson
Prediction: Davidson
Here is your token 7,10 upset. I like Davidson and could see them going on a little run.
8. UNLV vs 9. Kent St.
Prediction: UNLV
This one I had a bad feeling about, and seems as this could be my "Duh" pick. But I give love to the Runnin Rebels.

DP's NCAA 08 Bracket

1 North Carolina vs 16 Play-in
Pick: N.C.
It's in Raleigh, but the home court advantage won't matter too much this will be an easy victory.
2 Tennessee vs 15 American
Pick: Tenn. easily
I have Tennessee going to the final four and I will stay true to my word.
3 Louisville vs 14 Boise St.
Pick: Louisville
They're one of the best, if not the best team in the Big East. Boise St. I do not trust, and don't smell an upset yet.
4 Washington St. vs 13 Winthrop
Pick: Wazzu
I think they'll win this one big, for some reason I despise Winthrop.
5 Notre Dame vs 12 George Mason
Pick: George Mason
I've never liked Notre Dame, and I like the way George Mason spreads the court and gels offensively. George Mason gets the upset nod here and I hate Notre Dame also.
6 Oklahoma vs 11 St. Joe's
Pick: St. Joe's
The Big 12 is over-rated, I've never liked Oklahoma, St. Joe's is in the A-10 and I will show them some love here.
7 Butler vs 10 Southern Alabama
Pick: South Alabama
I am going to stay with the upset theme here and give the nod to S.A. I have picked Butler in years passed and they have let me down, so with that in mind, S.A. gets it.
8 Indiana vs 9 Arkansas
Pick: Indiana
I like Eric Gordan and Indiana this year. I like them so much I will eventually have them knocking off UNC.
