Dice K Needs Tommy John

Red Sox pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka has elected to have Tommy John ligament replacement surgery on his right elbow and intends to inform the team of his decision when he meets with club officials this week, according to a baseball source. ESPN

This is huge news for the Red Sox who lost their pitcher to put them over the hump. The thing that sucks the most is that he tried every option before realizing he had to get this done. This may be the last time we ever see Dice K in a Sox uniform as he is a free agent after this year and the recovery time is a little over a year.

Dice K finished his Red Sox career with a 49-30 record with a 4.25 era and 568 Ks. To put that in persecutive that's a lower ERA than Josh Becketts Red Sox career era and a pretty good winning percentage to boot. I'm not going to say that the season is over, but it looks glum with this more than significant loss.

RIP Dice K

Dice K To Get Tommy John

Boston Herald
Daisuke Matsuzaka may wind up needing Tommy John surgery on his right elbow, but any decision on that significant procedure, which would require a 12-month minimum layoff, is believed to be weeks away.

In the meantime, Matsuzaka flew home to Japan yesterday, in part to seek traditional Japanese treatment opinions and remedies for his ailing right elbow.

Even if the more extensive MRI reveals a full tear, there is still a chance Matsuzaka will be able to pitch with it and not risk further injury, as there are currently major league pitchers with partially or fully torn UCL’s doing that, according to a baseball source familiar with the type of injury Matsuzaka has.

Well that would suck if Dice K needed Tommy John because he wasn't having a bad year. With John Lackey being the worst pitcher of all time the Sox need some arms in the back end of the rotation. And with all due respect to the Wake and to Alfredo Aceves I feel thats not what need if we are going to be going to the championship.

Terry Francona says that he doesn't need to get surgery so I'm going to stick with that.

Hopefully his Asian medicine will do the trick.

Dice K On The DL **UPDATE** FOR THE YEAR

The Ace of the pitching Dice K went on the DL last night due to elbow stiffness. This comes after a game where he was hit with two come backers and obviously that matched up with the elbow pain made him walk 7. He should actually be applauded by such a gutty performance and to stick out as long as he did with his elbow hanging by a thread.

The MRI showed a sprained elbow and a more extensive report should be coming out today. But the Sox have called up Michael Bowden and with Wakefield already taking John Lackey's spot in the rotation they may lean on Bowden, Alfredo Aceves or get around to calling up Felix Doubront.

Oh yea.... Shut up with the Derrek Lowe rumors, it's not happening.

UPDATE

A buddy of mine who works at the hospital in foxboro saw he and doctor Thomas Gill going in for surgery. We will keep you updated

9 Red Sox, 5 Twins

Again, Dice k is proving to everyone why he is the best pitcher on the staff. He is able to deal with adversity of errors and early missed calls by Varitek and still give a gutty performance for the win.

But other than Dice k the 2nd most impressive thing of the day is from the batting line up. We got on Carl Pavano early and often chasing him out of the game after 5 innings when he gave up 7 runs.

Adrian Gonzalez continues to mash as he hit another home run, Youk is shaking off his bad early start and the Sox in my eyes have officially turned it around.

Also, something to note is that Jose Inglesies is up with the team.

5 Angels, 3 Red Sox

I don't count games with rain delays in the middle of them as actual games so I'm going to act like this game never happened. If it did happened it started with a pretty good pitchers duel with Josh Beckett and Ervin Santana for 4 innings with no earned runs.

How it ended was Bobby Abreu hit a two-run, two-out single off Daisuke Matsuzaka in the 13th and the Los Angeles Angels closed out a 5-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox at 2:45 a.m.

Francona knows that Ace K doesn't RP and does NOT pitch after midnight. 2 things he failed to pay attention to.

Either way it sucks to have lost a winnable game.

Mariners vs Red Sox Preview

The Red Sox hope to feed off of last nights win as they take on the Mariners tonight. On the bump for the Sox is their Ace Dice K aka Ace K who is coming off of 2 hits off of his last 15 innings against, for Seattle they turn to Jason Vargas who is 0-2 with a 5.53 era.

This is a good offense to go against after facing a decent Orioles line up. The Mariners are allergic to offense and if it wasn't for Felix Hernandez or Michael Pineda no one would be excited about this team. Their only offensive player is Justin Smoak who has been on a tear recently, but if we don't kill ourselves with walks our letting Ichiro or Figgins tear up the basepaths we should be alright.

Sox win 6-0
Tommy Award: Dice K

Everything Is Good In Daveville

Dice K throws almost 2 perfect games, the Celtics sweep the Knicks, Rajon is the star of the show and slaps Bob in the face with his dick, Michael Ryder saves the Bruins series and LeBrick misses another big shot..... Life is well.

Why might this be happening you may ask? It's simple, it's because I'm always right about everything. Dice K is the Ace of the Red Sox staff and just had some bad luck due to injuries and Varitek sabotaging starts. Bobby Valentine, The Captain, BMack and whoever doubted Dice K can go to hell and die. I tip my hat to BoSoxAtl who kept the faith. I mean remember when The Captain was trying to be clever and calling him Dice-L (which doesn't even make sense)? Hows the crow taste Homo.

Now on to the Celtics? Remember how BMack basically said Rajon was regressing and shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Derrek Rose? Too bad fat head didn't realize that Rondo had no help with a back up pg all year and was worn down. He used his quick judgement based on 1 game against the Bulls late in the season.

Michael Ryder.... greatness. I loved how all the Bruins fans out there were calling for Ryders head, and wanted to play a pussbag rookie over the veteran. All Ryder did after that was score 2 goals including the game winner saving the Bruins season. Once again the Captain has another dish of crow.

LeBron..... big time shot..... misses. Enough said. Biggest choke artist in the world. Can't wait to see him next round.

9 Red Sox, 1 Blue Jays

Ladies and Gentlemen I want to re introduce to you the best pitcher on the Boston Red Sox. Dice K aka Ace K tore up the Blue Jays and pitched 7 innings with 1 hit, 1 walk and 3 Ks. He was hitting his spots, not listening to Jason Varitek and only pitched 89 pitches in those 7 innings. To be honest I think Francona should have let him go the distance as he retired 16 batters in a row and was rolling. Dice K got ahead of 70% of the hitters he faced and it was overall another magical performance by Dice.

But some credit has to go to the offense and the offensive juggernaut known as Jed Lowrie who went 4-for-5, with a homer and 4 RBI. Jed is now hitting just a mere .516 this season. But he isn't the only one as Jacoby Ellsbury hit another homer and Youk hit his 2nd. Carl Crawford finally got a hit as he hit the wall for an RBI double. People were booing him all game for the slow start. It's good to see him make solid contact.

The Sox got 3 of 4 against Toronto and now are off to Oakland. Just 5 games away from .500.

Leave Dice K Alone!

I know last night was a horrific showing of baseball, I know he hasn't had a great start to the season. But you know what, leave him alone. Red Sox fans in general are willing to jump down anyone's throat at the drop of a hat, but Dice K at least deserves a little bit of a leash.

He's done all the right things this offseason to try and improve. It's not like he did his thing in Japan and came into the season out of shape, he's trying. Even though he's pitched as bad as he has, it's still as good as what John Lackey has shown. I know that's not the greatest argument, but still.

I'm the biggest Dice K fan, I still think he has the potential to be great. I think he just tries to hard to adjust between each start. He needs to just do what he does, even if he only lasts 5 and a third innings. Last night we saw him trying to pound the strike zone and obviously that didn't work. He needs to go out try to hit the corners even if that means walking 4.

So relax Dice alone and give the man room to breath.

Red Sox vs Indians Preview (Sox Lineup Is In)

The Red Sox need to win, they are 0-4 for the first time in 15 years and there is only one man to pull them out of this funk. That man is Daisuke Matsuzaka. The once 18 game winner/ World Series Champion is taking on Mitch Talbot and the Indians. Dice is the man to turn to also because last year he was 5-1 when pitching after a Red Sox loss. More importantly, he allowed one run and nine hits over 16 innings to win both of his starts against the Indians, continuing his epic run of dominance in this series. For his career, Dice is 4-1 with a 2.34 lifetime ERA versus Cleveland. He's been nearly unhittable in two starts at Progressive Field, holding the Indians to four hits over 15 scoreless innings. Brilliant!

But enough about how great Dice K is, what has been the issue thus far in the season is our hitting. In the 4 games this season they are hitting .186 which is horrendous figuring all the hype surrounding it. It doesn't matter how well Dice pitches tonight, if the Sox can't score we will be in trouble. I don't like this moving Crawford all around every game that's going on and I don't like the changing of the batting order. I know we like the L/R way of hitting but fuck that, just stick to one line up Tito and let it ride. My patience with that assclown is already wearing thin this season.

Either way, I think the Sox can get to Mitch Talbot early and often.

Sox 10-0
