Edge Experiment Over In Seattle

The struggling Seahawks cut ties with James on Tuesday, releasing the backup running back who never provided the pop Seattle hoped to get when it signed the 31-year-old in late August.
James failed to provide the punch Seattle hoped for when it cut T.J. Duckett to make room for James. He gained just 125 yards on 46 carries with no scores. He averaged just 2.7 yards per carry. ESPN

I think this was pretty obvious when he signed with Seattle. James was obviously at the tale end of his career, and even though with the Cardinals last year he was in the superbowl, he only had 4 decent games. James passed Marcus Allen as 10th on the runningback rushing record, and that's probably where he will end.

Edgerrin James Signs With Seahawks

The deal is supposedly worth about 2 million. Edge is tough to figure out because he was a shithead all last year for Arizona, but he did show some signs of life in the play-offs. Him, teamed up with Julius Jones, and TJ Duckett looks good on paper, but they are all under achievers. The Seahawks can surprise people coming out of the NL West if Hasslebeck and Housh stay healthy.

2 Teams Interested In Edge

"Two weeks ago, rumors emerged that the New Orleans Saints were taking a close look at free agent running back Edgerrin James, but then these were essentially dispelled by Saints' beat writer Brian Allee-Walsh of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
However, just when the Cincinnati Bengals thought they were going to be the only bidders for James' services in 2009, Alex Marvez of FOX Sports reports that the Saints are still definitely considering signing the Edge. Saints general manager Mickey Loomis told Marvez that "We've spent some time evaluating Edgerrin. We think he can still play. We're going to continue to evaluate that and see where it ends up. We haven't made a decision on Edgerrin yet (ESPN)."

If you are Edge you would have to want to play for the Saints over the Bengals. The Bengals are one of the worst franchises in the NFL, and are on a fast track to nowhere. Even though the Saints really have never done anything they at least have some of the pieces to make some noise. If the Saints were able to get their hands on Edge the Combo of him and Bush could prove very affective. I still think Edge has something left in the tank, and could be really affective in an offense that is so good at passing. We'll keep you updated, but I really do believe he will be a Saint within the next couple of weeks...

An Interesting Thought...

Bill Williamson of ESPN recently wrote an article that made a lot of sense to me. Basically says that he thinks the Cheifs should go after Boldin and Edge. Upon further thought I agree with this.

Think about it...Pioli just took over. He is looking to make a system that is much like the Patriots. Larry Johnson is declining, and almost everyone in the NFL uses a 2 RB system. You add guys like Boldin and Edge to a team that already has good leadership built in with Vrabel, Zach Thomas, and Cassel (much like how the Patriots added Dillon, Moss, ect with Brady, Bruschi, Troy Brown, ect). It is really an interesting thought, and if somehow they did do this they would suddenly be right in the middle of the playoff hunt instead of having to rebuild for another 2-3 years. Just a thought, but certainly an interesting one.

Edge Gets His Wish

The Arizona Cardinals granted running back Edgerrin James' wish to be released on Tuesday and cut two others who played significant roles in the team's run to the Super Bowl. After drafting Chris Wells int he first it seems as this was inevitable. Edgerrin James was already not happy with his role for Arizona, and now he will get the opportunity to sign with another team with perhaps a chance at a bigger role. The rumors down here are that the Saints are interested in the former U product. This would be a great signing by the Saints, and him mixed up with Reggie Bush will be a better version of the Duece/ Bush tandem.

And with that being said, here is a picture of Kim Kardashian:

James Asks To Be Released

Arizona Cardinals halfback Edgerrin James contacted Cardinals general manager Rod Graves Tuesday and pleaded with him to be released, according to a source. ESPN

Here is another example of a guy that should just be happy he is on a team. James was a brat all last year during the season when Tim Hightower became the primary runner, however, all was forgotten in the playoffs when he actually did play and ran pretty well. Edgerrin James is nothing but a name at this point of his career and I would be shocked if he latched onto any team as the featured back. There is no real market for him figuring Tampa Bay, New England and Cincinnati are all gone.

Arizona Is A Joke

The NFL had to extend the deadline to sell tickets again today, because the Arizona Cardinals can't sell enough of their playoff tickets to avoid a blackout in their area. Honestly, Arizona you can't get people to buy playoff tickets? If you fill your stadium during the playoffs then you don't deserve to have a team.

This news comes on the same day that Edgerrin James announced he will not under any circumstance return to the Cardinals. I know Edge is at the end of his career, but the Cardinals treatment of him this year was flat out awful. Tim Hightower is a joke, and will be nothing, but a short yardage guy the rest of his career. Edge can still run the ball a little bit, but the Cardinals plan is just to throw every down. I understand their thought process since they have two of the best WRs in the game, but this team is just so soft it's funny. That's why I really think rookie QB Ryan, and the Atlanta Falcons are going to beat the Cardinals in their own stadium this weekend.

Edge's Career Over?

Edgerrin James has had a hell of a career, but it looks like it is coming to a close. He has been critical of the coaching staff in Arizona, and it looks like he will have more reason to be, as he wasn't even played against the Rams. On the season James has 308 yards, but has been held under 60 yards in 5 games straight, and is losing carries to rookie Hightower. I don't know if this will continue, but it is looking more and more like James isn't even the #2 back (Arrington is)). Edge will most liekly get cut at the end of the year, but even if another team picks him up, I think he is all washed up. Too bad a good career had to end like this.
