Sorry, But It's Tebow Time (UPDATED)

I know it isn't Orton's fault, but the Broncos are in a tailspin, and it's time to look at the future. Right or wrong, they drafted a QB in the first round and it's time to see where he is in his development.

The Broncos have been outscored 53-19 over the last two game, and have lost 4 straight. Yet, Tebow continues to sit. Listen, I don't think he can do it either, but I do want to see it. The fans want to see it, and even in football terms it's a good idea to at least see where he is in his progress.

There are only 3 games left in their season, which could be a nice little window to the future. It is time to find out if this kid is going to be someone they can have any faith in going into next year (and years after), and him sitting on your bench is just giving another reason for your fans not to watch.

***UPDATE***

So much for that idea. The Broncos' official Twitter feed posted an update Monday afternoon indicating that Orton has retained the starting job (ESPN).

Orton Looking For A New Job Next Year?

"The NFL has certainly turned into the "League of Quarterbacks", as rule changes and offensive trends have made it so that a team's passing attack is much more vital to its success than a solid running game.

Although Denver Broncos QB Kyle Orton did a fine job to start the season, the Broncos' fortunes turned for the worse when he started to slide as well, and they're now fighting for their playoff lives after a 6-0 start. The Broncos will have a reasonably high first round pick thanks to the Jay Cutler trade with the Chicago Bears, but the pickings in free agency and the trade market are a little slim (ESPN)."

I like a lot of the QBs coming out in this draft, so the Broncos may actually take a stab at one. I feel bad for Orton. He is starting to be the new Brian Griese, good enough to hold a job, but the team is always looking for a better one. Either way I think Orton will start next season, but I would not be surprised in the least if they draft a QB for the future.

Kyle Orton Has Dislocation Of The Knuckle

"The Denver Post reports that Broncos QB Kyle Orton suffered an open dislocation of the knuckle on his right index finger during the team's preseason game vs. the Bears and is considered questionable for the start of the regular season at Cincinnati. He has been ruled out for the preseason finale against Arizona. If Orton can't face the Bengals, rookie Tom Brandstater would start in his place as backup Chris Simms is still rehabbing a high-ankle sprain suffered earlier this preseason (Sportsline)."

Orton has has a terrible start to his career in Denver. He isn't playing well and now they aren't sure if he is going to be able to start the season. Not to mention he has not been able to throw a pass to Marshall yet, and you can just tell this is going to be a long season for Denver fans. If I was them I would get Marshall back on the field, and try to get his value up again, then trade him, because when they traded Cutler they started the rebuilding process anyways...

Breaking News: Jay Cutler To Bears

The Chicago Bears pulled the big upset Thursday afternoon by acquiring Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler, a source told ESPN.com.

The deal includes Bears send Kyle Orton and two first round picks for the 2009, 2010 years and this years 3rd round pick, and the Bears get 5th round pick for this year and Jay Cutler.

This is a hell of a move by Chicago. They are instant Superbowl contenders for next year. Cutler is a young, "potential" filled QB, and if he can win a couple of games on the offensive end, the Bears will win 13 games a year. As for the Broncos, they get Orton, who is manageable, and they will probably pick up Josh Freeman or Mark Sanchez in the first.

BMack's Take:

"Denver agrees to trade Pro Bowl quarterback Jay Cutler to the Chicago Bears. The Broncos will receive first-round picks in 2009 and '10, a No. 3 pick this year and Kyle Orton, the 'Chicago Sun-Times' reports (Sportsline)."

Wow, I am even shocked about how much the Broncos got. I think Cutler is a very good QB, but this is just silly. We all know the Broncos had to move this guy, and the Bears still have to give up 2 first round picks, a third round pick, and Orton. At least now the Bears finally have a QB, but man this really gives the Broncos a chance to rebuild quickly. Good for Josh McDaniels for getting this done so fast, and for this much....more tomorrow.

Looks like the Rex Grossman Era Is Back

Bears quarterback Kyle Orton was taken from the field on a cart late in the second quarter Sunday, and a source told ESPN's Michael Smith that a high ankle sprain will sideline him at least a month.

God dammit. I really thought we were not going to see Rex Grossman anymore. I hate him more than anyone else in the NFL. Not only is he a terrible QB, he went to Florida, so that adds extra incentive for my hatred. Rex Grossman is terribly inconsistent and will single handedly lose games for the Bears. Kyle Orton was having a surprisingly good year thus far and it is a shame to see the former Purdue grad go down.

Orton Named Bears' Starting QB

Kyle Orton not Rex Grossman will be the starting QB for the Chicago Bears going into the 2008 season. Rex has been terrible this preseason, and the Bears have to be kicking themselves for resigning this guy. Orton hasn't been that much better, but doesn't turn the ball over like Rex does. Orton is by no means a great QB, but at least he can keep the Bears in the game. The Bears are going to have to rely on their defense and special teams once gain this year if they want to go anywhere. It is really a shame they didn't give this team a chance by signing a good QB.
