Tim Tebow Wants Me To Hate Him

Tim Tebow is having his memoir come out called "Through My Eyes". I hated Tebow in college, then I kinda liked him because he got so much shit before being drafted that I thought I'd be cool if he actually made it. Ten he did a stupid Super Bowl commercial, and now this...

First off how the hell do you right a memoir when you haven't done shit in the NFL. If it was just about his college days then fine, but that should still be done after your career is over. Tebow isn't even the starting QB on a very average football team.

Then there is all this God stuff. I don't mind that people are religious, but when you throw it in everyone face it drives me crazy. It's basically like anything else, I don't mind vegetarians, but if you preach to me about how I should feel sorry for animals then I hate you. I don't mind conservatives, but if you preach to me about how I'm wrong and everything sucks unless your Republican, then I hate (looking at you Mr. Callahan). Well the same goes for this God stuff, and I'm sick of it. I get Mr. Tebow you love Jesus. Sweet, now go learn how to throw a spiral and shut the fuck up.

Love it, Love it, Love it. This kid wears a visor like a motherfucker. Him along with DJ Williams and Elvis Dumerville will make an extremely quick DE, LB core. Miller is going to be very good and will be the defensive rookie of the year.

With The 2nd Pick In the 2011 NFL Draft the Denver Broncos Select.....

DP's Pick:
Nick Fairley DT Auburn

They need to fix their D Line and commit to a defensive scheme and Nick Fairley is the guy who can do this. Many people believe he could have gone 1, so the Broncos will be really happy to get him at 2. He is a guy who can help this year without much seasoning. He weighs 300 pounds and can be a penetrating force on the defensive line. I really like this pick for the Broncos.

Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama

It's no secret that the Broncos biggest concern is their defensive line. They couldn't stop any running attack, and although I think Fairley has better upside this guy is bigger, and can be the anchor in the middle of their defense. He might not be as good at rushing the QB then Fairley, but from what I am reading his a guy who gives more effort on every play. Fox is going to be changing a lot of things on this team, and I think we have seen time and time again that if you have a great big man in the middle the pass rush can open up for LBs. This is the more safe pick then DP's, but I think it's the right choice.

Broncos/ Bailey Agree to 4 Year Deal

The source indicated Bailey signed a four-year deal that could be worth between $43 million and $47 million. The contract has $22 million of guarantees. In the first year of the contract, Bailey will make $15 million, which equates to the franchise number for a cornerback in 2011. ESPN

I really like this move for the Broncos/ Bailey/ NFL. Champ Bailey is still one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL and deserves the money and I'm glad that there was some loyalty with this deal. The Broncos have a lot of questions going into the season, how John Fox will do, if they will stand by Tim Tebow or not, Can Elvis Dumerville recover, so at least its a big weight lifted off their shoulders when they don't have to worry about a cornerback.

John Fox To Broncos

Well it didn't take long for John Fox to find a job after being let go by the Panthers. The Broncos and John Elway decided that John Fox is the guy to turn around the Denver Broncos after the Josh McDaniels experiment went horrifically wrong.

Fox did some good work in Carolina, he brought them to a superbowl, he made them competitive for a while, etc. I just don't like him. I don't have any reason to dislike him but I feel he isn't that good.

The Broncos have a better overall team then the Panthers and with the AFC West basically open for the taking he could do it, however, does he commit to Tebow. Tim Tebow was decent last year, but he's very unique. He will have to put in a lot of work to make sure he's comfortable and get ready to run silly plays.

I consider this a blah move.

Sorry, But It's Tebow Time (UPDATED)

I know it isn't Orton's fault, but the Broncos are in a tailspin, and it's time to look at the future. Right or wrong, they drafted a QB in the first round and it's time to see where he is in his development.

The Broncos have been outscored 53-19 over the last two game, and have lost 4 straight. Yet, Tebow continues to sit. Listen, I don't think he can do it either, but I do want to see it. The fans want to see it, and even in football terms it's a good idea to at least see where he is in his progress.

There are only 3 games left in their season, which could be a nice little window to the future. It is time to find out if this kid is going to be someone they can have any faith in going into next year (and years after), and him sitting on your bench is just giving another reason for your fans not to watch.

So much for that idea. The Broncos' official Twitter feed posted an update Monday afternoon indicating that Orton has retained the starting job (ESPN).

Josh McDaniels Fired As Broncos Coach

After 22 months of work in Denver, Josh McDaniels has been relieved as head coach of the Broncos. They replaced him running backs coach Eric Studesville.

I like Josh McDaniels and I was rooting for him to do well, however, he was way over his head when he took over the job. After winning his first six games his rookie season, McDaniels lost 17 of his last 22 and had to go. The first thing he did as a head coach was run their "franchise quarterback" Jay Cutler out of Denver, then runs their best playmaker out of town, then drafts Tim Tebow in the 1st round for god knows what reason and a spygate like controversy.

So the next question needs to be asked, what happens to Tebow? He was a McDaniels guy, and I don't really believe any other coach has faith that he could run an NFL offense.

The Broncos will be a "team in progress" for the next couple of years because McDaniels set them back years.

PSA: Don't Play For The Broncos

"Denver Broncos wide receiver Kenny McKinley was found dead in his home Monday in an apparent suicide.

Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson said authorities were called to McKinley's home in Centennial at 3:35 p.m. local time and found his body in the second-floor master bedroom. He said detectives believe McKinley, 23, was killed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound (ESPN)."

A truly sad story, but what the fuck is going on in Denver? McKinley's death is the latest in a series of tragedies for the Broncos in recent years. Cornerback Darrent Williams was killed in a drive-by shooting on New Year's Day 2007 and 3 months later backup running back Damien Nash collapsed and died after a charity basketball game in St. Louis.

This is getting really odd. There are obviously all unrelated, but how much bad luck can 1 team have? Must really suck to be part of this organization over the past 3+ years.

Maroney to Denver

Remember back in the day, when the WCW would lure older WWF wrestlers. We used to joke that the WCW was the WWF's retirement home. That's what the Broncos are turning into.

Maroney was shipped to the Rockies, along with a 6th round pick. In return, the Patriots received a 4th round pick, and some peace of mind.

Maroney isn't an NFL back. And with injury worries, I'm a bit surprised the Patriots were able to get anything at all for him. He's not a good receiver. His pass-rush protection is forgettable. You can't depend on him to get 1 yard on 3rd and short. And he'll frequently lose yardage. He lacks the one thing that's prized most in a runningback: reliability.

Talk about depreciation in value. The Patriots spent a 1st round pick and millions of cap space on this project, and now wind up with a 4th rounder (and lose a 6th rounder). Maroney serves as a good reminder that Belichick is mortal. And you've seen that the Patriots have since avoided drafting at that position.

Fred Taylor is the #1 back in New England. Today, at least. He was hurt last season. Considering his age, I wouldn't be shocked if he got hurt again. Morris will support, as will Green-Ellis. And the ageless Kevin Faulk will be the "passing down" RB.

In that lineup, there's simply no role for Maroney. When would he be the best (or even second best) choice to run the ball? And this isn't college football. Teams simply don't carry 5 runningbacks.

Looking forward, I'd like the Pats to draft a runningback in 2011. A power back. One who's proven that they can run through contact and still drive forward. Ever since the departure of Corey Dillon, the Pats have lacked that threat. And can you just imagine the headaches opposing defensive coordinators would have trying to stop both Brady AND a dynamic running game.

Surprise, Surprise Cutler Still A Douche

"Jay Cutler didn’t get off to a good start with Josh McDaniels when the former Pats offensive coordinator took over in Denver and apparently, he hasn’t forgotten. Cutler told the Chicago Sun Times, “I just didn’t feel I could trust Josh.” Cutler said that he knew he wasn’t McDaniels choice to be his quarterback, but the relationship broke down after he felt that McDaniels didn’t own up to his attempts to trade him. ”He acted like he had no idea what I was talking about,” Cutler told the paper. ”Then it took him two or three days to finally admit that he tried to trade me.” McDaniels had no comment (WEEI)."

Whether or not what he is saying is true, it really doesn't matter. Bottom line is that he is a Bear now, and is coming off a year in which he looked more like Rex Grossman then Brett Favre. He should probably focus on getting his act together, rather then worry about his former team.

I like Josh McDaniels, and although there have been a lot of stories of him "running players out of town", part of thinks he just dealt a bad hand of douchebags, and Cutler living in the past just gives my theory more credibility.

I Can't Believe I'm Saying This.....

I don't hate Tim Tebow any more.... In fact, I'm rooting for him.

When Tebow was at Florida I hated his guts, I wished he died, I hated his stupid face, his preaching, his good boy image and pretty much everything about him, but something has changes now and ..... I like him.

It could be that I love Josh McDaniels and his childish behavior on the field or that I strongly dislike Brady Quinn, but I'm pulling for the unconventional QB. It's almost the same feeling when Mike Vick came into the league and you were always asking yourself, "What is he gonna do next?"

When I was watching Sportscenter this morning I was actually really interested in seeing how Tebow scored. The Broncos have a silly team for the future, but something tells me it's going to work. Josh McDaniels had the balls to draft and put his coaching job on the line and you have to respect that.

So count me in on the Tebow bandwagon.

Westbrook To Pick New Team Monday

Reports have come out that Brain Westbrook will pick his new team by Monday. The three leading candidates all along have been the St. Louis Rams, Washington Redskins and Denver Broncos. Yet, some people think another team could be involved.

Who knows what he will pick, but to me the Broncos, Packers, and Vikings make the most sense. I have heard that Westbrook is trying to avoid playing for a team that has AstroTurf, so that could take the Vikings out. The Packers make a lot of sense to me. They have been looking for a 3rd down back for a couple of weeks now, and Westbrook would seem to be the perfect fit. Broncos also make a lot of sense with the injuries they have already had to deal with in their backfield.

Offense:
I imagine Kyle Orton will start with a sprinkle of Tim Tebow. I really don't think Brady Quinn will make an impact this year, due to him being awful. He had great protection in Cleveland, he just seemed to constantly being rushed and terrible. They got rid of Brandon Marshall but drafted an identical player in Demaryius Thomas, but he will most likely be a project. The rest of their WR's consist of Jabar Gaffney, Eddie Royal, Brandon Stokley all possession guys and none which will wow you. Their RBs are Knowshon Moreno and 10th-year veteran Correll Buckhalter. The obvious choice here would be Moreno, who will be entering his second year as a pro and seems to be prepared for a full load carrying the ball.

Defense:
With Elivs Dumervil out, the Broncos are going to have a long season on defense. Yes they have Champ Bailey, but the rest of their defensive players are undersized, the speed thing worked for the first couple of weeks than had an epic collapse in the second half of the year.

Overall:
Not bad, but not good.

Elvis Has Left The Building

Denver Broncos pass-rusher Elvis Dumervil's season might be sacked by a torn chest muscle. The Broncos ruled him out indefinitely and could miss the year.

This blows for the Broncos, as Elvis Dumervil was extended to a five-year, $58.332 million extension last month. That was the second biggest news in Denver behind Tim Tebow's arrival. Dumervil had 17 sacks last season and was a big part of the reason why Denvers defense was mildly successful last year.

I expected a 7-9 season from the Bronco's anyways this year, due to suckiness. But this definitely hurts them a lot, before the season even starts.

Broncos Ink Tim Tebow To 5 Year Deal

The Denver Broncos and Tim Tebow agreed to a 5 year deal with the Broncos for $11.25 million contract with $8.7 million guaranteed.

That's a pretty reasonable deal figuring Tebow was a first round quarterback selection. Tebow was the one rookie that couldn't afford to hold out or miss any time of training camp due to him being a "project quarterback". Josh McDaniels made his bed with this kid and will sink or swim with him as a head NFL coach. To be honest, my Tebow hatred has gone down a lot since he left the Gaytors. Part of me wants him to be decent so Josh McDaniels gets some credit, because he's my dirty little secret of NFL coaches.

Westbrook To Pick New Team Soon

Brian Westbrook is rumored to be close to signing with a new team. The problem is that no one seems to know, which one. Reports indicate that he is picking between the Redskins, Broncos, and Rams.

I really don't get the Redskins one. They have a bunch of RBs, and really don't have much use for Westbrook. I think a lot of it is just his tie with McNabb, and nothing will come of it. The Rams also don't make a lot of sense to me, since Westbrook would have 0% chance of even making the playoffs.

That leaves the Broncos. Sure they aren't the best, but at least they are competitive, and there is somewhat of a need there. So, if it is between these 3 teams the Broncos by far make the most sense.

Lions, Broncos, and Eagles Pull Off 3 Team Deal

The Detroit Lions, Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles closed on a three-way trade, sending TE Tony Scheffler and the Broncos' seventh-rounder to Detroit, LB Ernie Sims to Philly and the Eagles' fifth-rounder (No. 137 overall) to Denver. Might not seems like a big trade, but this deal does tell us a couple things.

To start I really like this deal for the Lions. Scheffler has great hands, and it could be a nice target for the young Lions QB (Stafford). It also means that Brandon Pettigrew is a huge fucking bust. The Lions took him early in the 2nd round last year, and this kid has already lost his job. Hopefully his knee is now healthy, and maybe this can buy some time to get his career back on track.

The Broncos pick up another draft pick, but this deal leaves them with former Patriots Daniel Graham has their starting tight end. He is ok, but he really isn't much of a pass catcher, so you have to wonder if the Broncos will not be in the market for a TE in their the draft or on the free agency.

The Eagles pick a LB, which they need, because their depth there is just terrible. This kid won't turn this around there, but he is young, and could fit nicely into the Eagles defense.

Overall, I like this deal for the Lions, and the Broncos are rebuilding so picks are important, but I can't really say i would be thrilled about this deal if I was an Eagles' fan.

Trading For Marshall Cheap?

After the Santonio Holmes trade there are rumors that the value of Marshall is in a downward spiral. Santonio Holmes was traded for just a fifth-round pick and his numbers are very comparable to Marshall's...

Santonio Holmes: 79 rec, 1248 yards (15.8 YPC), five TD.
Brandon Marshall: 101 rec, 1120 yards (11.1 YPC), 10 TD.

Obviously, I think Marshall is better, but his trade value, once thought to be a first round pick has to be going down. Marshall is a troubled player, much like Holmes (though Holmes has to deal with a suspension). My thinking is that Marshall will go for a late 2nd or 3rd round pick. If that is the case, and with all the picks the Patriots have, doesn't it make sense to pull the trigger on this deal? The Jets are going all out to win it this year with the additions of Holmes, Cromartie, and maybe even guys like Jason Taylor.

I'd also like to see this happen, because I don't want to see the Patriots waste any draft picks on offense (other maybe offensive line). I want all the picks to go to fixing that defense, and if you add Marshall to this offense you could really spend every pick on the defensive side of the ball. Just a thought, but if I was the Pats it would be hard not to take a look at this.

Broncos Trade For Brady Quinn

The Broncos acquired Brady Quinn from the Cleveland Browns for fullback Peyton Hillis, a 2011 sixth-round draft pick and a conditional pick in 2012. I really don't know what to think of this trade. Obviously the Browns have no faith in Quinn, but I still feel like they could've got more for him. That being said, he hasn't done anything to make me a believer that he can turn it around (yet he hasn't really been surrounded by much). It will be interesting to see if Orton holds on to his job. My guess is that he does, at least to start the season.

I'm interested to see how Quinn plays when he has a guy like Marshall as a WR (if he is still on the team), but so far in his career Quinn hasn't shown he can complete the deep ball.

So, overall I think the Browns could have gotten more, but at the same time I am not sold that Quinn is going to be anything more then a backup.

Moss Expects To Be Gone After 2010

There is a lot being made about Randy Moss' comments that he doesn't think he will be with the Patriots after this season...

"I don't think they are going to extend my contract here," said Moss. I understand the beast, the nature of it. I think that just with what I think and what I know I don't think they're going to re-sign me back. So, after this season if there is not a lockout I'll be looking for a new team. I got a lot of respect for the Patriots and what they did for me and my family. So, the only thing I can do is just play this year out and see what my future holds after that."

"You know the Patriots don't really pay, so when I got my second contract from them that was a blessing in disguise. I understand the business. I don't think they're going to re-sign me back. I'm not mad. I'm not bitter. It's just the way things are in this NFL, so like I said after this year I'll be looking for a new team. I think so (Boston.com)."

I know a lot of people are throwing a fit about this, but I really have no problem at all with it. In my eyes, Moss is just reading the writing on the wall. He is an aging receiver, and the Patriots have a track record of never overpaying for players. He knows that his value is going down every year, and the Patriots will probably try to get younger after this season.

I believe him that he has no animosity towards the Patriots. They resurrected his career, and he will probably still get a sizable contract somewhere else after this season, because of his time here.

The real reason I have no problem with this is because I really don't want Moss back after this season. Not that he isn't a great player, but I think he is going to be able to get more then he is worth on the open market.

The only question now is whether or not the Patriots will deal him before this season even starts. There have been rumors that Brandon Marshall could be traded for a 2nd round pick. If that is the case, the Patriots have 3 of those, so it could lineup nicely.

As to where Moss could be traded to (if it ever goes that route)...Cowboys, Bengals, Vikings, Bears, Ravens, Giants, Redskins, Seahawks would top my list.
