Matt Jones Released

It is about fucking time. the jaguars finally released the "troubled" wide receiver today. Jones was having the best year of his career, with 65 catches for 761 yards and two touchdowns before being suspended. But Jones has sucked his whole career. After leaving Arkansas I thought he would have more of an impact, but he sucked. He will probably be a Raider or Cowboy next year. Oh well fuck him.

Matt Jones At It Again

Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Matt Jones, who served a three-game suspension at the end of the 2008 season, was arrested Monday evening in Washington County, Arkansas, and is being held.

Multiple media outlets reported that alcohol was found in Jones' system when he took a random drug test as part of a plea agreement that resolved his cocaine possession charge in July. He was charged with contempt of court.ESPN

Before I heard what this was for, I was going to bash Jones, but because Alcohol was the reasoning. I can't blame him. I can't eat dinner without having at least a beer, so if the man says he was at a golf course with a couple of buddies and had a couple of beers, let him go. Unfortunately for Jones, he should be suspended for a couple of games this year because Goodell needs to be consistent with his suspensions.

"Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Matt Jones will serve a three-game suspension for violation the NFL's substance-abuse policy after his appeal was denied Wednesday.
The league handed down the suspension in October, but it was delayed while Jones appealed. Jones, the team's leading receiver, was charged with cocaine possession in July when a police officer in Fayetteville, Ark., saw him inside a parked car allegedly cutting up cocaine with a credit card. In September, Jones agreed to enter a drug treatment program that could erase the felony charge against him (Sportsline)."

It is about time. I mean the guy was caught with coke in July, and it took all the way to December to suspend him? Honestly, this entire NFL system is becoming a joke. They finally hand down the suspension, after the Jags are eliminated from the playoffs. It is probably better for the team that he doesn't play the rest of this year, so that he can be healthy for next season. What a fucking joke.

Matt Jones Fires Back At Porter

Matt Jones has had about enough of Joey Porter "I don't even know why he's even thinking about me," Jones said. "I mean, maybe he likes other men and sits up and thinks about stuff, so I don't know. ... Is Joey Porter the commissioner? Then why would I even worry about it?(ESPN)"

Good, I am so sick of hearing from Joey Porter. He does the same thing Schilling does, which is shoot his mouth off about everything. I actually thought this was a hilarious come back. "Maybe he likes other men and sits up thinking about stuff"...classic. The only sad thing is now you know Porter is going to have say something else. Go to hell Joey Porter...

PS: I do think Jones should be suspended, but it's none of Porter's business.

Joey Porter Giving Everyone The Business

"But I'm still trying to figure out how a guy gets caught with cocaine in his car and still plays the game and nothing happens."

Actually, I again am on Joey's side with this. I have been wondering why Matt Jones is still playing and not only getting suspended for getting arrest but for substance abuse. Matt Jones was a perennial bust for the Jaguars until this year, but in my eyes (and Joey's) he should not have had the opportunity. If you are going to suspend Pacman for drinking, LJ fort spitting on a girl, Brandon Marshall for doing god knows what, you have to suspend Matt Jones for actually getting caught with cocaine. I don't think it is, but I could see how this could be misconstrued as a black/white thing.

Matt Jones Arrested

Jaguars wide receiver Matt Jones has been arrested on cocaine charges in Arkansas. "The preliminary arrest report shows an officer saw Jones sitting in the back seat of the car with a white card with a white powdery substance on it, and a credit card in his other hand." First Coast News

Well I guess if you are a bust in the NFL, and a former 21st pick, why not do a bunch of blow? Once upon a time, I believed Jones was going to be a great WR however the former quarterback from Arkansas then made the transition to WR when he was drafted. It hasn't turned out that great. I wonder what the Jaguars are going to do because they just signed Jerry Porter, which pushed Jones to the third spot. My guess is that he's gone.
