Jordan Sort of Disses LeFag

"There's no way, with hindsight, I would've ever called up Larry, called up Magic and said, 'Hey, look, let's get together and play on one team,'" Jordan said after playing in a celebrity golf tournament in Nevada. "But that's ... things are different. I can't say that's a bad thing. It's an opportunity these kids have today. In all honesty, I was trying to beat those guys."

That goes to show the competitive nature of MJ. However, in LeBron's defense, Jordan played with the worst talent in NBA history. The Celtics and Lakers were getting older and he only really had Isiah Thomas, Charles Barkley, Hakeem to deal with. LeBron couldn't have won it on his own because he lacks what Jordan had and that's the killer instinct. You see Kobe have it, and even Wade have it to an extent, but LeBron is too passive to ever be that guy. Also, the NBA has the best talent it has ever had in the history of the sport, and it's becoming more and more evident, that the era of the one man team is a thing in the past.

Jordan to be Bobcats owner

The AP reports that Commish, David Stern, said in a statement on Saturday that he expects His Royal Airness to become the majority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats. Jordan and his management group have struck a deal with the current ownership which would make Jordan the majority owner of the franchise.

There are a lot more complicated details to this deal which I'll refrain from boring you with. The bottom line is Jordan will be the majority owner, and I don't expect him to be one of these absentee owners. I see him being more in the mold of a Mark Cuban, courtside and vocal about things going on - basketball and otherwise. I don't think he'll be as obnoxious as Cuban, but if anyone doesn't think he'll be a highly visible owner they are kidding themselves. It's MJ!

History shows that these types of owners don't always pan out, and Jordan's track record of basketball decisions isn't in his favor. (See, Kwame Brown #1 overall.) His best bet would be to own the team and let some other people help with the basketball decisions, but I doubt his ego will let him do that. The same thing that made him the most driven champion of all time is also the same thing that leads him to be a prick at times.

Anyway, the Bobcats are a long way from being really relevant, so he's got his work cut out for him.

Oh, and then there is that whole gambling thing. He might have to tidy that up a bit, now that he's an owner.

MJ Says Thanks But No Thanks LeBron

Michael Jordan appreciates LeBron James' gesture but asked by his friend Ahmad Rashad if he thought his No. 23 should be retired by the NBA, Jordan wasn't exactly on board with the idea.

Jordan was a guest via phone on NBA TV's "All Access with Ahmad," and offered up some more names worthy of having their numbers retired.

"Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Bill Russell, all those guys should have their jerseys retired, too," Jordan said. "I understand his gesture, but I am in the same group as those guys so I wouldn't want to see my jersey retired unless you retire those guys. It is a compliment. I totally understand that. I appreciate LeBron for doing that and it is very thoughtful." More

See LeBron that's something that you lack, class. MJ knows that he didn't build basketball from the ground up, that people who came before him, may have been even more influential then his Airness. So shut up LeBron and keep talking about playing football, because you know, things like that are relevant.

DC Discussion: Jordan vs LeBron

Last night at scotch club, I claimed that Michael Jordan could give LeBron a game today. I didn't say he was going to win, but consistently get 5-7 points in a game to 11. BMack and others believed he wouldn't score one point, or one point if he was lucky. I think Jordan could make up for his loss of quickness and age with outsmarting LeBron in different facets of the game, but they weren't having it. So since we couldn't come to an agreement, I want to pose the question to our audience. Do you think Jordan could give LeBron a game in 1 on 1 today?

Jordan- Russell To Play Charity Game?

The owner of the Utah Jazz's NBA Development League team wants to see Michael Jordan go 1-on-1 against Bryon Russell one more time.
Brandt Andersen is offering a $100,000 donation to the charity of the winner's choice if he can get Jordan and Russell to play a game of 21.
Jordan's jumper over Russell in Game 6 of the 1998 NBA finals gave the Chicago Bulls a 4-2 series win over Utah. Jazz fans still insist Jordan pushed off Russell.
During Jordan's Hall of Fame speech, he said he was motivated by Russell's trash talk toward him during his first retirement.ESPN

I think this is pretty awesome, however, this will never go down because Jordan has way to much pride to play this game. Byron Russell will do it in a second I bet, because Jordan pushed off on him and because Jordan talked shit about him during his hall of fame speech. I bet MJ will just donate 100,000 dollars to the charity.

Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan
Michael Jeffrey Jordan (born February 17, 1963) is a retired American professional basketball player and active businessman. His biography on the National Basketball Association (NBA) website states, "By acclamation, Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time." Jordan was one of the most effectively marketed athletes of his generation and was instrumental in popularizing the NBA around the world in the 1980s and 1990s.
After a stand-out career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Jordan joined the NBA's Chicago Bulls in 1984. He quickly emerged as one of the stars of the league, entertaining crowds with his prolific scoring. His leaping ability, illustrated by performing slam dunks from the free throw line at Slam Dunk Contests, earned him the nicknames "Air Jordan" and "His Airness." He also gained a reputation as one of the best defensive players in basketball. In 1991, he won his first NBA championship with the Bulls, and followed that achievement with titles in 1992 and 1993, securing a "three-peat." Though Jordan abruptly retired from basketball at the beginning of the 1993-94 NBA season to pursue a career in baseball, he rejoined the Bulls in 1995 and led them to three additional championships (1996, 1997, and 1998) as well as an NBA-record 72 regular-season wins in the 1995–96 season. Jordan retired for a second time in 1999, but he returned for two more NBA seasons in 2001 as a member of the Washington Wizards.
Jordan's individual accolades and accomplishments include five MVP awards, ten All-NBA First Team designations, nine All-Defensive First Team honors, fourteen NBA All-Star Game appearances and three All-Star MVP, ten scoring titles, three steals titles, six NBA Finals MVP awards, and the 1988 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award. He holds the NBA record for highest career regular season scoring average with 30.12 points per game, as well as averaging a record 33.4 points per game in the playoffs. In 1999, he was named the greatest North American athlete of the 20th century by ESPN, and was second to Babe Ruth on the Associated Press's list of athletes of the century. He was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame on April 6, 2009 and will be inducted in September 2009.
Jordan is also noted for his product endorsements. He fueled the success of Nike's Air Jordan sneakers, which were introduced in 1985 and remain popular today.Jordan also starred in the 1996 feature film Space Jam. He is currently a part-owner and Managing Member of Basketball Operations of the Charlotte Bobcats in North Carolina.

5 Elected to NBA Hall of Fame

"It was only a matter of time, and now Michael Jordan is in the Hall of Fame. Jordan was elected to the class of 2009 today with David Robinson, John Stockton, Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan and Rutgers women’s coach C. Vivian Stringer (Boston Herald)."

Great class this year going into the Hall of Fame. All had unbelievable careers, and it is always nice when there is no real argument about a class. If there is an argument chances are they shouldn't be in the Hall of Fame. Robinson, Stockton, and Jordan defined an era. Jordan is the most important basketball player of all time. He brought a marketability to the sport to a whole new level. He has swagger, but the difference from most guys today is that he always backed it up. Sloan has been a great coach for a very long time, and I don't know a damn thing about Vivian Stringer, but I am sure she probably deserves it.

Celebrity Thoughts

Kanye West: "I realize that my place and position in history is that I will go down as the voice of this generation, of this decade, I will be the loudest voice," he said in an interview on Wednesday. "It's me settling into that position of just really accepting that it's one thing to say you want to do it and it's another thing to really end up being like Michael Jordan."

By the beard of Zeus how can he compare himself to MJ? Michael Jordan would never be caught dead sporting a man purse. Other than that though, yea pretty much the same.
