URI vs St. Joes

If URI wants any shot at getting back into the big dance, then today is a MUST WIN. St. Joes is a bubble team just like the Rams, so it would be a pretty big win. Hopefully we can end a very bad week on a good note, and not go 0-3 at home. I had such high expectations of this past week, but the team totally killed it with their lackluster play. That being said, they could salvage it with a win against a very solid St. Joe's team. St. Joe's has won at Creighton, UMass, Siena, and Temple. They almost beat the Cuse, Charlotte, and X on the road. This is not going to be a pushover at all. Rhody needs to stay focused and GET JIMMY OPEN LOOKS. Martelli is a great in-game coach, vs Baron who is a absolute joke of an in-game coach. Will this be the difference and give St. Joe's the edge that they will need in this one. Parfait needs to shut down Calathes and his 3 point shot, as well as his penetration. For Rhody, Baron should bench Seawrong. It seems like no one even wants to play anymore. I don't see a lot of emotion at all. Please win today Rhody. Please. Please. Please don't fuck up and entire season in one week.

PS-Fuck St. Joes stupid mascot.

98 Umass 91 URI

Once again I am dissappointed by the basketball team. They dont deserve any of the fan support they are getting. Two straight sellouts this week, two choke jobs. I cannot believe that this team went from being a possible 5 seed in the tournament, to probably not even making the tournament anymore! They have lost 4 of their last 5 because they have been playing good teams. Jim Baron is an awful in game coach and last night showed it again. His substitution patterns are ridiculous. I cannot believe how many times Umass got penetration and scored on easy floaters and layups. It seemed almost everytime that Lowe would just dribble right by Parfait and score. Cmon Baron, clog the lane, play the zone, do something! The turning point in this one was definetely when Seawrong is dribbling the ball at the top of the key, turns it over and then committs the intentional foul. He costs us 5 points right there, as we were only down
one with the ball, going to down six with the ball. Game. Set. Season. I guess this team wants to play in front of half full stadiums for the rest of the Jim Baron era.

FUCK YOU JIM BARON....you are the definition of mediocrity
FUCK YOU KAHEIM SEAWRIGHT..are you a seinor yet?
FUCK YOU REFS....looked like morons on national TV

THANK YOU STUDENTS AND FANS..provided a great atmosphere only to have it ruined by the team.
THANK YOU WILL DANIELS...your the man, you score almost everytime you touchthe ball, but with the season on the line coach only plays you 29 minutes.

URI-UMass Preview

Tomorow marks the University of Rhode Islands 27th game of the 07-08 basketball season. Compiling a 20-6 record so far, they look to put a staple win onto their resume, one that is lacking of those. They welcome Umass to Kingston for a 7pm contest, which will be televised nationally on ESPN2. Rhody really needs to win this one. Not only are the on national tv, they need to add a somewhat signature win to their resume to impress the selection commitee. I am sure they will be watching, as URI and Umass are both potential bubble teams. If URI loses this one, they are severe danger of not getting an at large bid. However if Rhody can win it like they SHOULD, hopes of dancing will be looking bright. The Rams will be looking to avenge a tight loss a couple weeks ago in Amherst. Maybe this will be the game when Baron Sr. finally comes to his senses and runs some plays to get Jimmy open, but dont count on it. I see them having no problem taking care of buisness at home, but this team has dissappointed me so many times over the past few years, I just cant be confident anymore. GO RHODY. Heres a little Hellenga karma for you.

URI vs Xavier pregame

NOT IN OUR HOUSE

Tonight marks the biggest game in 10 years for the University of Rhode Island basketball team. They welcome in a Xavier team ranked 12th nationally, with very impressive wins over Micheal Beasley-State, Indiana and so on. They are in first place in the A-10, and a real tough matchup for Rhody. However, a very key piece of their puzzle for tonight Drew Lavender is injured, and will not be playing at 100 percent if at all. Xavier will be looking to blanket Will and Jimmy to try and shut the Ram's offense down.

On the Rhody side of things, all they need is a little home cooking. The Rams are 11-0 at home this season, and will be playing in front of a pinked out, sold out Ryan Center. Student tickets sold out by 10:30, and the Ryan Center was sold out by 11 this morning. The key to victory for URI tonight is going to be Will Daniels and Jimmy Baron. If Coach B can get them the ball and open looks, Rhody will take this one to the bank. We can't be relying on inconsistent play from Mbang, Cothran, and Ulmer. 7PM Tip on Cox 3. Get to the RC early.

Temple 92 URI 89

Dont get me wrong, I love URI basketball as much as anybody. Ive been to pretty much every game that I could since the early 90s. However, after last nights embarrasing loss to the Temple Owls, im going to rip this team a new one...They frustrated me so much I need to vent a little.

-URI is extremely overrated. There "best" wins are against a awful Syracuse team who just lost to USF by 11 last night, a garbage PC team, and a Dayton team who just keeps on losing to everyone they play. Couple that with losses to St. Louis and Temple, I dont know how they have been getting top 25 votes at all.

-With last night road loss, URI improves to 1-4 on the road in the A-10. Why the hell do they suck on the road. Its not like there playing at Cameron Indoor, the Dean Dome, in front of the Izzone or any other place that gives there team a tremendous homecourt advantage. They lost in front of 4,000 Temple fans that probably had the Liacouras Center not even half full. Clean
the sand off Rhody, and get it done on the road.

-I cannot stand Kaheim "Stonehands" Seawright. Everytime he touches the ball I immediately yell pass. While I know he had 15 rebounds last night which is very impressive, he only had FOUR points in 43 minutes of play. Are you kidding me? He also missed four freethrows in a row last night. Make one more basket, or one more freethrow you bum and we win the game. Oh yea, 4 turnovers as well. Is he a seinor yet??????????

-Thank god Baron lets Marquis Jones play. In 11 minutes, he was 0-3 from the floor taking two threes which he could never make in a million years. Had 1 assist, 1 rebound, and ZERO points. Also had a turnover. Glad to see Will and Jimmy sitting on the bench while hes playing.

Sorry about the rant DC readers, but I had to let off some steam about this team. We can totally turn our season back around with a win over Xavier on monday. You read it here first, Rhody WILL beat X at home on Monday. This will set the Jeff Lester Master Plan into effect. After a "great" season and a NCAA tourney appearance, Jim Baron will be courted off to rebuild St. Johns. In their coaching search, Rhody hires the one and only Bobby Knight, who is looking for a respectable school in a small conference ala Rick Majerus. Let the Knight Era begin in Kingston!
