AMNRL Begins June 5!!

I know you have all been wondering, where did that Rugby guy go? What happened to all those sweet posts about a sport I never heard of and truthfully don't give a shit about? Well here I am fuckers so listen up;

American National Rugby League (AMNRL) is starting next week (June 5) so I will be starting up the weekly coverage again. The AMNRL features teams from the Boston 13's to the Jacksonville Axemen and in 8 other cities in between. It is the largest national Rugby competition we have in the US.

There a few places you can get solid Rugby League news however non of them are written by an actual player. Thats right, Im not only the CEO, but Im also a client (hair club for men?). I play for the Fairfax Eagles in Virginia. We have been in the AMNRL for about 3 years now and are looking to make a big splash this year.

There are a few other teams that have recruited some serious talent from other countries, including the Jacksonville Axemen who have a NRL (Australia) star playing for them, and the Philidelphia Fight who just brought on two West Coast Samoan Americans, and three Australians. The New York Knights will have their hands full defending their Grand Final title this Summer.

It is shaping up to be a great season. I plan to bring you scores from around the league, highlights, some game footage, good pics of live action and if your lucky some close-ups of some nasty battle wounds. That's the best part of having a writer who plays in the league right? Nasty battle wounds?

There's No 'Roughing the Passer' in Rugby

I just wish ESPN broadcast rugby once and awhile. I think a decent amount of people in the US would like it. The next Rugby World Cup will be in 2011, and maybe by then ESPN or another network here (Versus loves obscure sports, this obscure sport might actually get them some viewers) broadcast it.

Man Attacks Mascot At Rugby Game

This guy apparently jumped over the fence and decided to pummel, however, the mascot pummeled him. The funniest thing I have ever seen is the interview.

"Nine minutes from full-time, the Sea Eagles mascot was attacked inside the fence by a spectator, who wrestled him to the ground. But no Sea Eagle was losing last night, and the mascot eventually got to his feet and waved as the attacker was taken away by security."
