Conan Review

I love Conan, and it's well documented that DC loves Conan, however, I was not blown away by Conan's debut.

Maybe my expectations were too high, maybe I just loved the last couple of weeks he was at NBC when he was pissed, but I thought there could have been more.

He did some tired NBC jokes, but didn't go after them hard enough, it was cool seeing the masturbating bear and Andy Richter, but it was the same old format. It was a monologue, then some videos, then a boring interview, then a terrible band. Maybe this is what I expected as mid season show rather than a show they have had months to prepare for.

I feel like everyone was rooting for Conan, but he disappointed me last night.

I'll give it a 6/10 (and that's being generous)

I'm sure it will pick up.

Max Weinberg Leaves Conan

I am heartbroken....

"After months of rumors, it's finally official: Max Weinberg won't be going with Conan O'Brien to Conan's new show on TBS.

Guitarist Jimmy Vivino will be leading the house musicians, as he often did when Weinberg took breaks from the show to tour with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. James Wormworth, Weinberg's long-time on-air substitute, will be the group's new full-time drummer.

Vivino broke the news in an interview with the St. Louis Riverfront Times. "Max has his big band out there that has been his dream all his life," Vivino said. "And there's a kid in Jersey that works with him occasionally."

E Street Band guitarist Steve Van Zandt tells Rolling Stone that he's not sure what caused the split (CNN)."

This is really too bad. Max Weinberg was fucking hilarious with Conan. He was such a creep, and the show just won't be the same without him. I can't wait for Conan to be back, but I have to admit this really disappoints me, they have been together so long. Hopefully it is just Max getting older, and wanting to go on tour or something, because I would be really chocked if Conan and him were in any kind of tiff.

Fuck NBC

For the first week since Jay Leno’s Tonight Show return, he was tied by David Letterman’s Late Show, as both shows averaged a 0.9 adults 18-49 rating for the week of June 7-11. Coming off a week of repeats for both shows, Leno fell a tenth of a point and Letterman gained two tenths.

That put Leno’s Tonight Show two tenths of a ratings point below Conan O’Brien’s Tonight Show ratings trend, comparing the ratings for each show’s fifteenth sequential week (note the first chart below).

It was 0.6 ratings points below the same calendar week of Conan’s Tonight Show ratings last summer (note the second chart below). Interestingly, Letterman’s Late Show had the same rating as it did for the week a year ago. More

What this means is that Leno and Letterman are tied, and Jay Leno has worse ratings than Conan O'Brien. So the whole nonsense that happened with Conan, was a giant waste of everyone's time and money. I can't wait for Conan to come back and even though it stinks he won't be on a major network, I always thought he was far superior to all those other assholes.

Conan Signs With TBS

There have been endless rumors about where Conan would end up. I really thought (and hoped) that he would go to FOX, but TBS must've been throwing around a lot of money to land him (though there is no word how much yet). Anyways, the show will start up in November and George Lopez will move his show to midnight to make room for O'Brien at 11 p.m. Eastern.

First off, fuck George Lopez. The fact that he has a show makes me really question what people find funny. Has anyone ever heard him say anything funny ever? No, fuck you Lopez...die.

Now that that's out of the way, I have to admit I am really disappointed in this. I know everyone has cable now and it doesn't matter, but I wanted Conan on one of the basic stations (NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX). I really wanted him to go to FOX, because I think he would be allowed to do anything he wanted (look at the shit Family Guy gets away with), and I am a little worried about the "stars" he will be able to land on a cable show.

Still, all that really matters is Conan will be back, and the world is a better place with him on TV.

Conan gets $40 Million Buyout

There is no official word that this deal is done, but from everything I have been reading Conan will get a $40 million dollar buyout from NBC. There are some interesting rumors that say that part of the deal will be that he is not be allowed to talk about this incident if he was able to get a knew show. I think that is fucking retarded and a chicken shit move by NBC, but in the end Conan was painted into a corner and he is lucky just to get out of this contract.

Hopefully FOX will jump all over this opportunity. I know there are some people who don't care about this story at all, but Conan was been a fixture in my TV watching since I was a little kid, and I think he is by far the best Late Night host. Plus, on Fox he will be able to bring back a lot of his old skits that NBC thought weren't appropriate for the Tonight show (insult comic dog, masturbating bear, ect).

Anyways fuck NBC, do they even have any good shows anymore? The Office used to be much better then it is now. Heroes sucked after the 1st season, so why does this station even exist?

Conan In A Lot Of Trouble

We have been tracking this story since the beginning. Jay Leno has decided that he wants his old time slot back. NBC reworked Leno's contract and gave it to him, and tried to move Conan to 12:05am. There was a standoff for awhile, but it is basically done. Leno is taking the show, and Conan is out of a job, but this is only where the trouble begins.

See in Conan contract there is so mention of the time slot that he is in. Just that he is the 'Tonight Show' host. So, as long as Leno changes the name a little bit, Conan is fucked. Why? Well unless NBC fires Conan he is still under contract, which as 3 1/2 years on it. That means NBC can control him much like how the Lions controlled Barry Sanders years back.

It is a chicken chit move by NBC, but you can't argue that it is very smart. This way the dust will settle. Conan fans will forget about him, and in 3 years he won't be relevant, thus ending his career. I really hope he finds a way to wiggle out of this, but things are not looking good for our good friend Conan...

Conan Tell NBC To Fuck Off

"The not-so-funny NBC time-slot soap opera that has developed between funnymen Conan O’Brien and Jay Leno is apparently taking its toll on O’Brien who released a statement announcing that he would not accept the move to12.05am as proposed by NBC.

According to a “Tonight Show” insider, the comedian was absolutely devastated when addressing the issue with his team on Tuesday.

"Everybody has been walking around really sad and it's really weird as far as going on with the show. It's miserable around there and Conan gave a speech to all of his staff and he broke down crying,” said our source. “He is incredibly tight with his staff. This is the staff from his inception, from when he first started, which is why this is pretty unreal. This is the staff from the start (FoxNews)."

Conan it is time to go. NBC is one of the worst rated stations around, and you should jump ship to FOX. Let Leno fail with NBC. What sucks for Conan (and his staff) is that he moved out to LA, and now most likely will have to move again. NBC and Leno are a bunch of fucking douchebags, and I hope Conan does jump ship and crushes them in the ratings...

Jay Leno Is A Dink

The "Tonight Show" host feels like the redheaded stepchild of late-night TV after NBC's abrupt decision to cancel Jay Leno's10 p.m. experiment after just five months -- and return the car-loving comic to O'Brien's coveted 11:35 p.m. slot.

"This level of sh- - -iness was not expected," one source said. "He's done a great job for NBC. He moved his entire staff, he moved his family to LA. And five months later, they repay him like this?"

As it stands now, the source said, "Conan would be happier somewhere else."

The pompadoured host has "many options," including a move to Fox, which for years has been looking to create its own late-night show.

Jay Leno is the fucking Brett Favre of TV. He announces his retirement, then turns around and bitches when it comes time to go. Conan has been waiting patiently for years to get his chance to be the #1 guy. They screwed him by putting Leno before him, and now they are going to turn around and delay the start of Conan's show until midnight. Sorry, but that is fucking stupid. I hope Conan jumps ship and goes to Fox. If he does he should bring back more of his old skits (masturbating bear, FedEx Pope, Triumph the insult comic dog).

Conan is the man, and I hope he does well when he moves up to the Leno spot. I am interested to see if his humor translates to real celebrities, because most of his humor is about how terrible his show is. Anyways, anything is better then Leno at this point, but fuck Jimmy Fallon. I really fucking hate that guy....
