Hines Ward Obviously Framed For DUI

"Ward is claiming that even though he was cuffed for the offense, he wasn’t intoxicated. “From our preliminary investigation, we can tell you that we are confident that the facts will show that Hines was NOT impaired by alcohol while driving,” his rep Andrew Ree" Ward was "caught" "drunk driving" while in Georgia.

See, obviously the cops were out to make another athlete into a bad guy. It's sickening to be honest. First Casey Anthony is found innocent, then Catherine Greig is granted probation and now this. Just another case of some yahoo cop trying to make a name for himself. Since it was in Georgia I'm pretty confident in saying that the cop was most likely racist and seeing a Asian/Black guy driving is like prime rib to a dog down there. It's a shame that America hasn't got past all of this racism by now.

Hines Ward Out Vs. Miami?

"Steelers WR Hines Ward re-aggravated his hamstring injury and may not be available for the season finale against Miami. "He's just beat up," coach Mike Tomlin said. "You know if he's got a chance, he's going to show up for this team (CBSSports)."

The Steelers have very slim playoff hopes (though for some reason I still think they will make it), and they really need everyone to be healthy for the finale against Miami. Ward is getting older, but he bring toughness to the Steelers, and his blocking is some of the best in the league. My guess is that he plays. After giving Roethlisberger shit for sitting out with a concussion I think he will do whatever ti takes to tough it through this game...

Hines Ward Likely Out This Week

"Already facing another week of no Troy Polamalu, the Pittsburgh Steelers might have to play Thursday night without wide receiver Hines Ward. Via Twitter, NFL Insider Adam Schefter noted yesterday that Ward sustained a hamstring injury late in Sunday's loss to the Oakland Raiders. Moreover, due to the injury, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin says that Ward is in question for the game against the Cleveland Browns. Regarding the short week to recover, Tomlin said, "not favorable for him," per the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review (ESPN)."

Usually if a team is playing the Browns I would say rest you injured players, but the Steelers have to win this week, or they are going to be out of playoff hunt quickly. Ward is a tough guy, so I think there is hope that he will play, but hamstrings can be a pain in the ass for WRs. You have to wonder if Roethlisberger would chuckle a little bit if Ward was unable to play.

Ward/Harrison Fued Begins...

"Rodney Harrison promised to lay the lumber when he joined NBC. And man has he delivered. Thanks to Pro Football Talk, we've got the rundown on Ward and Harrison taking verbal jabs. It all started when Ward, on NBC's air, no less, questioned Ben Roethlisberger sitting out on Sunday against the Ravens. Harrison said he'd never say such a thing about his quarterback, and off ... we ... went.

"[Harrison] stirred up the whole thing with me throwing [Roethlisberger] under the bus," Ward told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "It really wasn't that at all. ... But Rodney Harrison, ex-Patriot, goes out and goes crazy and, 'Well, he threw Ben under the bus.'"

Harrison responded on the Dan Patrick Show on Thursday, saying: "I love Hines Ward. I think he's one of the toughest guys I've ever played with. ... [But] I would never question my quarterback, especially after winning two Super Bowls (Boston.com)."

Harrison has been going been very unbiased when it comes to criticizing players/coaches (as he went after Beleichick already this season). Harrison is right on the money once again here. It is basically exactly what I said when I read Ward's comments. Roethlisberger is one of the toughest QBs in the NFL, he has 2 rings, and is the leader of this team. You don't come out and say that he could've/should've played. I like Harrison in the booth as he makes thing interesting with his "tell it like it is" Barkley mentality. I don't always agree, but he is entertaining.

Anyways, I think this is a dead issue now. Roethlisberger came out and said him and Ward have patched things up, and I would be surprised if a veteran team like the Steelers would let it be a distraction.

Ward Calls Out Roethlisberger

"In a taped interview that aired on NBC prior to the Pittsburgh Steelers' loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night, Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward called QB Ben Roethlisberger's manhood into question.

Indicating that it was "almost like a 50-50 tossup in the locker room" regarding whether No. 7 should've played a week after suffering a concussion, Ward continued by saying, "I've been out there dinged up. The following week, got right back out there." Ward also noted the importance of the game, and why every player should be on the field if there's even a shred of a possibility they could play: "I don't think guys really worry about the future when they're playing currently in the NFL. Trust me, the players want to go out there because these games you don't get back. You're never going to get this Baltimore-Pittsburgh game back. This is a big game (ESPN)."

This funny because I said that Ward looked pissed off the whole game, which is odd since he is usually smiling nonstop. I have to say I am on Roethlisberger's side on this. He has played through injury before, and after seeing what happens to NFL players after they retire from these concussions I don't blame him for being cautious. Anyways, Ward should know better then to call out his QB to the media...he is better then that.

Hines Ward needs a shower

"Hines Ward is the dirtiest player in the NFL, according to a Sports Illustrated poll of 296 players released this week.

The Steelers' wide receiver, long considered the league's best blocking wide receiver, received 11.6 percent of the vote. He was followed by Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth (6.0), Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter (6.0), Bengals safety Roy Williams (5.1) and Titans center Kevin Mawae (4.6). Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan (4.2), Rams guard Richie Incognito (3.7), Falcons guard Harvey Dahl (3.7), Steelers safety Troy Polamalu (3.7) and Vikings defensive end Jared Allen (3.2) rounded out the top 10.

Ward, 33, has a long history of physical play. Last October, he was fined $15,000 for hits in back-to-back weeks that weren't penalized during the game. Later that month, Ward broke the jaw of Bengals rookie linebacker Keith Rivers with a surprise downfield block. The hit, which ended Rivers' season, did not draw a flag. "That's what he's known for," Bengals safety Chinedum Ndukwe said. "He's a blind-side guy."

Discussing his reputation with SI last year, Ward said, "It's hard to sit there and tell everybody it's a violent sport but tone it down a little. When I go across the middle, those guys aren't going to tackle me softly and lay me down to the ground. That's not football. I find it ironic that now you see a receiver delivering blows, and it's an issue. But I haven't changed. I've been doing it this way for 11 years."

The poll was conducted in September and included some well-known names in the top 20: Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis (3.2 percent), Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman (2.3 percent) and Jets linebacker Bart Scott (2.3 percent). Former Patriots safety Rodney Harrison, who retired last summer, received three votes.

The Broncos' Brandon Marshall, the only other receiver listed in the poll, received one vote. No running backs were selected, but one quarterback did get a vote: the Titans' Vince Young."

Superbowl Breakdowns

Today's edition of superbowl breakdowns focuses on the wide receivers. Pittsburgh won the match-up of the first two match-ups so lets see how this ends up.

Arizona Cardinals:
They obviously have better wide receivers in this match-up. Larry Fitzgerald may be the best WR in the NFL and has had a nothing short of spectacular playoffs so far, Anquan Boldin is another premier WR in the league, and although he has been an ass this year on th sidelines he is an amazing pass catcher, and Steve Breaston may be the best slot WR in the league. All of the fore mentioned guys are extremely explosive, are deep threats, and physical guys, many people compare this WR corp to the Rams that Kurt Warner led to the Superbowl against the Patriots, but there is one glaring difference. These guys can't be pushed around and can't be intimidated, like Holt and Bruce could. The only thing that can slow these guys down is if Pitt says fuck the run game, we are going to be in dime the whole game. Either way, this is an extremely tough match-up for Ike Taylor, Troy Polomalu, and Ryan Clark. I expect nothing less than 2 TDs in the air.

Pittsburgh:
Hines Ward is banged up but is going to play, Santonio Holmes has been a home run threat in the playoffs, Nate Washington is the burner, and Heath Miller is the check down guy. Although they aren't as explosive as Fitzgerald or Boldin, the Steelers WR's do their job. They are extremely physical, hardly drop passes and given the opportunity they can break one deep. No one ever knows what to think of the Steelers passing game, and even me being a Steelers fan have no idea who could lead the team in receiving yards any given week. The Steelers will probably spread the ball around, with a couple of deep bombs to Washington or Holmes, but who knows.

This match-up goes to Arizona.

Ward To Play In Superbowl Despite Injury

"Hines Ward needs extensive work to rehabilitate his sprained right knee for the Super Bowl, but Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin still expects the wide receiver to play." ESPN

This is great news for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Hines Ward is the heart of the offense and the Steelers best wide receiver. When Hines wasn't in the game against the Ravens, Ben looked a little less comfortable with his wide receivers. (Obviously Sweed couldn't shoulder the load figuring the blatant dropped TD pass in the second quarter.) Hines Ward is more than just a wide receiver, he plays like another offensive lineman when he blocks for runs. Ward was the MVP of Superbowl XL for the Steelers and now with him playing I am a lot more confident going against the Cardinals.

Keith Rivers Talks About Hit... or Mumbles

What Keith Rivers said:
"I mean, I would have done it," he said. "Honestly, whatever. It is what it is. You know, you reap what you sow. That's what happens. What goes around, comes around. We'll see what happens."

What he meant to say:
"Fuck, Fuck, Fuck, that motherfucking, asshole, cocksucker, fuck! I would kill that motherfucker if I had that chance, as a matter of fact I'm gonna kill that motherfucker now! Hines watch your ass! Will somebody please pass me my motherfucking ham and cheese smoothie!"

Terrell Suggs Mispoke about "Bounty" Comment

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs says he "misspoke" when he used the word "bounty" in a radio interview about the Ravens' defense targeting members of the Pittsburgh Steelers during their Week 4 game. ESPN

What he meant to say was, "We don't just have a bounty on Hines Ward, we have one including his family. Me, Ray, Ed Reed, Bart Scott and C Mac all threw in a million dollars into a pot and whoever rips off Hines Wards arm or can hear the slow crackling of a broken bone wins."

"Bounty" On Hines Ward

Terrell Suggs' suggestion that the Baltimore Ravens had a "bounty" on Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward and running back Rashard Mendenhall has gotten the attention of the NFL.
During the "2 Live Stews" syndicated radio show on Oct. 17, when he was asked, "Did you all put a bounty out on that young man [Mendenhall]," Suggs replied, "Definitely. The bounty was out on him and the bounty was out on [Ward] -- we just didn't get him between the whistles."

Listen Terrell Suggs, I am terrified of you and your defense and you did kill Rashard Mendenhall in the game, but you overlooked one thing. Hines Ward has a bounty out on you, just like he did to your boy Ed Reed.

and Bart Scott

You're next.

Call Hines what you want, but he is the best WR ever on the Pittsburgh Steelers (which includes John Stallworth and Lynn Swann who are both Hall of Famers) and he might be the most underrated WR in the league. He is willing to do the dirty work and you rarely see that with your big name wide receivers in the league and every team would love to have this guy on their team.

Hines Ward Breaking Jaws

Even though it was a clean hit in my eyes, there is no way that Ward's not getting fined for this hit. Poor Keith Rivers, he thought his rookie season was going so well until Hines broke his jaw. Welcome to the NFL.
