Jalen Rose Going To Jail

A Michigan judge has sentenced former NBA guard Jalen Rose to serve 20 days in jail for a drunken driving crash along a snowy suburban Detroit road in March (sentenced actually to 92 days overall, with all but 72 days suspended, he also gets 1 year probabtion).

I usually going on a whole rant about how he is rich and should've got someone else to drive, which is damn true, but you know how I feel about that, so I will just give Jalen a little credit.

He admitted what he did, and even old the officer that he had six martinis that might, and pleaded guilty to the charge. 20 days in jail sucks, but it could've been worse and I hope ESPN doesn't fire him over this. He admitted what he did, he is going to serve his time and should be allowed to move on with his life once he has.

Hines Ward Obviously Framed For DUI

"Ward is claiming that even though he was cuffed for the offense, he wasn’t intoxicated. “From our preliminary investigation, we can tell you that we are confident that the facts will show that Hines was NOT impaired by alcohol while driving,” his rep Andrew Ree" Ward was "caught" "drunk driving" while in Georgia.

See, obviously the cops were out to make another athlete into a bad guy. It's sickening to be honest. First Casey Anthony is found innocent, then Catherine Greig is granted probation and now this. Just another case of some yahoo cop trying to make a name for himself. Since it was in Georgia I'm pretty confident in saying that the cop was most likely racist and seeing a Asian/Black guy driving is like prime rib to a dog down there. It's a shame that America hasn't got past all of this racism by now.

Shin Soo Choo Busted For DUI

"Shin-Soo Choo spent Tuesday afternoon talking to each of his teammates, one by one, to express how sorry he is for his off-field arrest on suspicion of drunken driving and the embarrassment it caused. The Indians outfielder was arrested Monday after a breathalyzer test showed he had a blood-alcohol level of .201 -- more than double Ohio's legal limit of .08.

According to police, a patrolman first spoke to Choo at 2:25 a.m. He told the officer he was lost and needed directions to Avon Lake. Choo was allowed to continue driving, but was later pulled over when he twice crossed the double-yellow lines and drifted into a bike path. He told the officer his GPS had broken and he was unable to get directions home. Choo's eyes were bloodshot and he smelled of "an alcoholic beverage," police said, and he was ordered out of the SUV.

Choo was unable to complete a heel-to-toe walking test, losing his balance and he failed two other sobriety tests, the report said. He was taken to the police station and was given the breathalyzer test. Choo was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, having an excessive blood-alcohol level and a traffic violation (ESPN)."

Doesn't sound like it's going to be a big deal, as the MLB doesn't suspended players for DUIs, but this is starting to get out of control. It is only the beginning of May and already 6 MLB players have been arrested for DUIs. I don't know what the deal is, but these dudes really need to start hiring drivers or something.

Choo seemed really sorry about the whole thing, and I doubt this will be an on going problem.

What's the odds it happened after leaving a karaoke bar?

Derek Lowe Gets DUI

"The Georgia State Patrol says Atlanta Braves pitcher Derek Lowe has been charged with drunken driving. State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright says a trooper stopped the 37-year-old Lowe's vehicle about 10 p.m. Thursday on an Atlanta street.

Wright says that during the course of the traffic stop, the trooper detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage and administered a field sobriety test and Lowe was arrested. Wright says Lowe declined to take a breath test. He says Lowe was charged with DUI, reckless driving and improper lane change. He was released, and Wright didn't know if Lowe had an attorney (WEEI)."

From his time time the Sox this shouldn't be all that shocking, there were always rumors about Lowe having a drinking problem, and being very hungover on days he wasn't pitching. The Braves organization has had a rough week, they already had a coach making homophobic remark and scaring kids, and now you have one of your top pitcher getting a DUI. I doubt much will come of this, but it's just another distraction.

Miguel Cabrera Charged With DUI

"Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera has been arrested on drunken driving charges in Florida. The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office said the 27-year-old's car engine was smoking alongside a road late Wednesday when a deputy spotted the vehicle.

According to the arrest report, Cabrera smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and took a swig from a bottle of Scotch in front of a deputy. Police say Cabrera repeatedly refused to cooperate, saying, "Do you know who I am, you don't know anything about my problems (ESPN)."

This is terrible news for the Tigers. Cabrera had seemed to turned the corner after an ugly incident in 2009 got into a fight with his wife while drunk out of his mind just hours before the Tigers blew the division lead to the Twins. Cabrera really seems like he has some mental problems when you read something like this. What "problems" does he think he has? I really have no idea, but he seems like a really unhappy person, and the Tigers are really going to need to keep an eye on what he is doing off the field. I am not sure what will happen because of this. The MLB doesn't really have a "conduct policy", so I would think any suspension would have to come from the team, and I think the Tigers would be foolish not to. You can let actions like this go unpunished, but the main thing is to get this guy some help.

Bucs Mike Williams Arrested For DUI

"According to a profootballtalk.com report, Bucs rookie wide receiver Mike Williams was arrested for a DUI Friday morning. The site reportedly received a tip in the morning and then confirmed on Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office’s website that Williams had been arrested.

According to the available information, Williams’ blew a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.065 and 0.061 percent into the breathalyzer . Notably, these counts are below Florida’s legal limit of .08, but urine testing was also being conducted. As of Friday morning, Williams was still in custody (WEEI)."

Mike Williams fell to the 4th round because of "character issues", but I really don't think this is going to stick. He was under the limit, and the fact that he has a breathalyzer to back him up can only help. He should be available for this week (though these is one report that says he won't, and one that he will), and from the information above I would be very surprised if he is suspended by the team or league.

Braylon Edwards Arrested

I was just starting to think that Edwards might be starting turning back into the receiver he was a couple years ago. I'm not saying it can't happen, but he is definitely going to miss a couple games after this...

The New York Post is reporting that Jets WR Braylon Edwards was arrested at 5:15 a.m. today and charged with DWI. Police say he was pulled over and blew a 0.16 on a Breathalyzer test, twice the legal limit.

“We are very disappointed in Braylon’s actions,” Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum said in a statement released by the team. "We are reviewing the information with the league and will impose the appropriate disciplinary measures (CBS)."

I know I always go on a rant that these guys have enough money that someone else really should be driving. I still believe that, but then I learned that there is a Player Protect program, which is a program that basically allows a player who doesn't feel safe driving him to call a phone number and make arrangements for a ride. So there is absolutely no fucking excuse for this and I hope he gets suspended 3 games.

"Alicia Butt" Blows A .33

A driver who ran a stop sign and nearly struck another car was charged with DUI and resisting arrest after she gave an officer a false name. That name of course is "Alicia Butt", which is one of the funniest fucking thing I have ever read in my life.

First off, I would love to know what her real name is, because I almost want to send her a thank you note for being this drunk and clever. The story only gets better..

"She consented to a breathalyzer test and her results were .331 and .330, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The deputy said she had a quarter-full whiskey bottle in her car, was barely able to stand and had urinated on herself, so he didn’t ask her to perform field sobriety exercises."

HAHAHAHAHA. Just the way that is written is classic. She couldn't stand, pissed herself, and gave the cop a fake name of "Alicia Butt"...Yea, there is really no need for the sobriety test.

Too bad she isn't a professional athlete, because she probably would've just got a slap on the wrist.

Big Al Gets A Big DWI

"I want to apologize to the entire Timberwolves organization, owner Glen Taylor, my teammates, coaches and Wolves fans everywhere for my actions last night," Jefferson said in a statement released Sunday by the Timberwolves. "I made a very poor decision and I am truly sorry for that. As a leader on this team, I know that more is expected of me, and I am disappointed in myself."

That apology got him suspended for 2 games without pay.

When I brought this up last night BMack said, "Why wouldn't he, he's in Minnesota." And I can't argue with that, Minnesota must suck and the fact your team is one of the worst in the NBA can't help anything. I probably would only drive drunk if I lived there. There will always be a place in my heart for Big Al because he really liked the Celtics when he was here, hopefully this is just a one time thing.

Vincent Jackson Pleades Guilty To DUI

Vincent Jackson pleaded guilty to a 2009 DUI charge on Monday and received a 4 day jail sentence and 5 years probation. I feel like I say this every time, but this is bullshit. If this was me or you, we would be inn jail for awhile, and this isn't even his first time!!!!

Anyways, Jackson will most likely be suspended a couple games from this, which he should nice he gets off so damn easy. Jackson likely will be a restricted free agent this offseason, unless the NFL and its players can agree to a new contract before March 5, but that ain't happening.

In the long run this doesn't mean very much unless he gets in trouble again. Jackson, and every other rich person that gets a DUI, you have a shit load of money, get someone to drive you...

Rey Maualuga Continues The Bengals Tradition

Rey Maualuga pulled the classic Bengal move, he has just been arrested on charges of drunken and careless driving. Apparently Maualuga hit a parking meter and two parked cars early Friday. I am actually a big Maualuga fan, but what the fuck is it with Bengals and getting in trouble? I somewhat understand, because there is just nothing to do in Cincy (trust me I have been there 3 times, it sucks), but still this team really needs to get it together. You would have thought the whole Chris Henry thing would have woken this team up, but I guess not.

You would think that the league will suspend him a game or two for this. Who would've thought that Chad Ochocinco would be one of the "good" guys on the Bengals?

Saints Bobby McCray Arrested For DUI

"New Orleans police say that Saints defensive end Bobby McCray has been arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and other counts. Police spokesman Gary Flot says McCray was stopped by an officer who saw him speeding about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. He was booked into Orleans Parish Prison on charges of driving while intoxicated, speeding, careless operation of a motor vehicle and not having his vehicle registration with him. Flot says McCray did not resist. A Saints spokesman says team officials are aware of the situation and will let the legal process take its course (ESPN)."

What a fucking idiot. His team is falling apart around him, and he goes out and causes a big distraction for the Saints. I still think the Saints can get it going again, but these are the types of things that can easily be avoided.

Note to all NFL players...Nothing good happens after mid night. Be smart. Go Home.

Why Not Get 3 DUIs In 3 Weeks?

"A 50-year-old Reno man has been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving for the third time in less than three weeks. Reno Police Sgt. Tom Robinson says John Parker was stopped Monday afternoon on a U.S. Highway 395 off-ramp on the south end of town after a concerned citizen alerted police about his erratic driving. He says a check of Parker's police record found he had been arrested on the same charge two other times since Oct. 2. Robinson says officers contacted the city attorney, who contacted a Reno municipal court judge so Parker's bail would be raised to $25,000. The judge also ordered that it be paid in cash rather than the usual practice of posting a bond for 10 percent of the total pending a court hearing (FoxNews)."

Listen I am no saint when it comes to having a couple and driving, but this guy is just a fucking moron. I think 1 DUI and I would probably stop being an idiot, but this guy just really doesn't care. I don't think he should be allowed out on bail, because most likely he'll do it again, and that is fucking scary...

Pulp Fiction Writer Gets A Year In Jail

"An Oscar-winning screenwriter of "Pulp Fiction" has been sentenced to a year in jail for causing a fatal traffic crash in Southern California. Roger Avary was sentenced Tuesday in a Ventura court. He also received five years of probation. Avary pleaded guilty in August to gross vehicular manslaughter and drunken driving for the 2008 crash that killed a passenger in Avary's Mercedes in Ventura County. Authorities say Avary's car was traveling at more than 100 mph when it crashed into a telephone pole. Avary's wife was ejected from the vehicle and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries (Fandango)."

If this was you or me we would be in jail for no less then 15 year. This is just like the Stallworth case, but worse since this dude was going 100 MPH with his wife in the car!!!! Anyways, Pulp Fiction is one of my favorite movies of all time. Maybe that's why he got off so easy....

Stallworth Released From Jail

Well that was fast...

"Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte' Stallworth has been released from a Miami jail after serving 24 days for DUI manslaughter. His attorney, Christopher Lyons, says Stallworth was released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center early Friday (Sportsline)."

It is kind of fucked up to think about how much the public rips apart Vick, yet I bet no one will say boo about Stallworth. It is just funny where the priorities are. Don't get me wrong both are terrible people, but I just find that funny. Anyways, it is also fucked up that he only served 24 days in jail. If DP or I killed someone in a DUI crash we would not be seeing the light of day for at least 10 years. It really is bullshit...

Stallworth Going To Jail

"Donte' Stallworth began serving a 30-day jail sentence Tuesday for killing a pedestrian while driving drunk in Florida, a punishment made possible by his cooperation with investigators and the fervent wish by the victim's family to put the matter behind them. Stallworth, 28, received the sentence after pleading guilty to a DUI manslaughter charge for striking and killing Mario Reyes while driving drunk March 14 in his black 2005 Bentley. The athlete also reached a confidential financial settlement with the family of the 59-year-old construction worker (Sportsline)."

This story really bothers me, because if this was any of us we would have been in jail for 15 years. The only reason I accept this at all is because the family of the victim was behind it, but in the end it was probably all about money. Goodell is going to need to step in here and suspended Stallworth for at least 6 games next season. If they are suspended players for DUIs and acting like idiots, then driving drunk and running over a guy should be met very harshly....

Joba Chamberlain Pleads Guilty To DUI

"New York Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain pleaded guilty Wednesday to a Nebraska charge of drunken driving and was given probation (ESPN)."

No real big story here, but the good news for Yankees fans is that this will not affect his season. I really like how the judge handled this...

"You probably worked long and hard to get where you are today," Judge Laurie Yardley said before sentencing Chamberlain to nine months' probation. "It takes about 10 seconds to wipe all that out." Chamberlain nodded and said, "Yes, ma'am," and Yardley told him "don't come back."

Though I would have thrown him in jail if he called me ma'am, but the Judge was cool about this and didn't get all high and mighty. Joba has been looking great during spring training, and is ready for the season to start. For some reason I just don't see him being able to stay healthy as a starter. Eventually I see him being the next Papelbon, and closer for the Yanks, but we'll have to see how my prediction works out.

Guy Gets DUI Without Leaving A Barstool

Police say that Kile Wygle, 28, had one too many before wheeling his homemade oddity around the neighborhood on March 4.

Wygle was charged with driving the bar stool while under the influence of alcohol and driving while under suspension. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges and asked for a jury trial. No court date has been set.

According to a report by Officer Michael Trotter, Wygle told him that his bar stool can reach a speed of 38 mph but that he was traveling only about 20 mph when he wrecked.TCD

This is amazing and is a hero to all men. Sure getting a DUI blows, but getting one while riding a barstool drunk kind of rocks. This is an amazing invention and I hope I one day get busted for riding a barstool drunk.

The Daily DUI

"San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of drunken driving. Jackson failed sobriety tests shortly after 2 a.m. on state Route 52 in San Diego, said California Highway Patrol Officer Ray Scheidnes. He said he didn't know Jackson's blood alcohol level. An officer stopped Jackson after spotting the player braking abruptly, speeding and weaving in a 2008 GMC Sierra, Highway Patrol Officer Brad Baehr said. Jackson was on probation for a previous DUI arrest, he said (ESPN)."

What the fuck is this guy out drinking for? His team just moved on in the playoffs, and this dumbass goes out and drinks to 2am, and on top of it decides driving is a good idea. Want to know why the Chargers won't win it this year? Because their players don't care. That's what LT never really plays in the playoffs, and this team finds a way to have the most talent in the NFL, but never go anywhere. I hate the Chargers to much, and I hope they throw this guy in jail, just for being a fucking moron.

Walker Wiggles Into DUI

"Former NBA player Antoine Walker has been charged with suspicion of drunken driving in Miami Beach. Police say Walker was driving a black Mercedes without the lights on when he was pulled over early Monday morning. Police say officers smelled alcohol and that Walker looked sleepy. Police say he refused to take a Breathalyzer test (ESPN)."

I always loved Antoine Walker, but I am not surprised by this. What else does he have to do? You know he wants back into the NBA, but that is probably not going to happen. If I was the cop I would never be able to arrest him. This is the same guy who when asked "why do you take so many threes?" he replied, "because there are no fours". Enough said...FREE ANTOINE!
