Fitzgerald Begging Arizona To Sign Braylon Edwards

"Adam Schein of Fox Sports and Sirius NFL Radio reports that Larry Fitzgerald and Kerry Rhodes have gone to management of the Cardinals to lobby for the team to sign Edwards (ESPN)."

In a lot of ways it makes sense. The Cardinals have brought in Kolb and they might as well give him as many options as possible. That being said, I like Early Doucet and would like to see what he can do as a #2 WR. Edwards is good and they should grab him if the money is right, but I have a feeling he is going to want to get paid like he is a #1 WR and he just drops too many balls for him to get that kind of money.

Then again, the Cardinals are trying to lock Fitzgerald up long term and might want to do anything just to make him happy.

How Stupid Can You Get?

Braylon Edwards had to feel on top of the world. He caught a touchdown and a 2 point conversion in Sunday's win over the Patriots. He'd shut up Joe Namath by catching 5 of the 6 balls thrown in his direction. Then he got drunk and decided to be chauffeur to two teammates.

Do these athletes realize that this is a world full of consequences? Edwards should. He was hanging out with Donte Stallworth the night he drove drunk and killed a man. So maybe Braylon should know better. Does he not have two buddies in his contact list he could call. "Hey could one of you pick me up and the other drive my car home?"

And where is Coach of the Millenium Rex Ryan on this one? I'm not blaming him for Edwards' behavior. Then again, Rex hardly instills discipline. When in Hard Knocks did he talk about the importance of making smart decisions? He probably had his mouth full of double-stuffed Oreo's.

And what are the Jets going to do to Edwards this week? Essentially nothing. Which kind of pisses me off because they're pretending to do something. "He will not start... He will dress. He will play at some point." This isn't baseball. Starting a game doesn't mean much, especially for a wide receiver. That just means he's on the bench for the first play.

Hey, if you don't want to suspend him in a key divisional game, I can understand. But don't be a bullshit artist and pretend you're punishing him because he'll miss 1st & 10. The Jets which will play Edwards when they want to, and won't hold him back in an effort to discipline him. Which is fine, but don't try to make it seem like you're punishing him.

Braylon Edwards Arrested

I was just starting to think that Edwards might be starting turning back into the receiver he was a couple years ago. I'm not saying it can't happen, but he is definitely going to miss a couple games after this...

The New York Post is reporting that Jets WR Braylon Edwards was arrested at 5:15 a.m. today and charged with DWI. Police say he was pulled over and blew a 0.16 on a Breathalyzer test, twice the legal limit.

“We are very disappointed in Braylon’s actions,” Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum said in a statement released by the team. "We are reviewing the information with the league and will impose the appropriate disciplinary measures (CBS)."

I know I always go on a rant that these guys have enough money that someone else really should be driving. I still believe that, but then I learned that there is a Player Protect program, which is a program that basically allows a player who doesn't feel safe driving him to call a phone number and make arrangements for a ride. So there is absolutely no fucking excuse for this and I hope he gets suspended 3 games.

Namath Blasts Braylon Edwards

All eyes are on the Jets, and this won't make thing any easier. As a Jets legend doesn't think very highly of Braylon Edwards...

"(Edwards) can't catch the ball ... or rarely does. He has as many drops as he does catches."

On Wednesday, Edwards responded. While he said he respected the Jets legend, Edwards was not pleased, saying: "Tell him next time he's here, stop by my locker and tell me that."

Really shouldn't be a big deal, but if they lose to the Patriots this weekend it could get ugly quick in New York. Rex Ryan's mouth has back them in a corner that is they aren't one of the best teams in the NFL they are going to get ripped apart. I doubt this will be the last comment against the Jets, and there is really nothing untrue about what Namath said.

Braylon Edwards To Be Suspended?

"On Monday, New York Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards was officially charged with a misdemeanor assault stemming from his altercation at a Cleveland-area nightclub weeks ago. Prior to his trade, the Jets did a thorough risk management assessment and background check, and GM Mike Tannenbaum asserted that the risk in trading for Edwards was "manageable." But now, with the official charges laid on the table, is there a suspension coming from the NFL? According to Mark Cannizzaro of the New York Post, it's unlikely. An NFL spokesperson spoke with Cannizzaro, and noted Edwards' lack of any prior conduct issues. In that case, the spokesperson noted, "we wait for a court resolution. Then we would review the facts for any possible discipline (ESPN)."

Even if he does it won't be for very long (I don't think he'll serve a game). I hate Edwards, he just has too many things against him in my book (Michigan, fucking my fantasy team, thinking/acting like he is great, ect), but I am going to put that aside for a second. He is one of the hardest players to figure out. On one hand he is fast, can jump, and be a game-breaker. On the other hand he (like Roy Williams) can disappear, and he also drops way too many catchable balls...

Edwards Punches Lebron's Friend

"The NFL is investigating whether Cleveland Browns wide receiver Braylon Edwards violated the league's conduct policy following accusations he assaulted a man outside a nightclub. Edwards allegedly punched promoter Edward Givens, a friend of NBA superstar LeBron James, early Monday morning following an argument in downtown Cleveland.

"We are looking into it," league spokesman Greg Aiello said Tuesday in an e-mail. "It is premature to speculate about potential discipline."

Although Edwards has not been charged with a crime, the league's conduct policy states that discipline may be imposed for "the use or threat of violence." James called Edwards "childish" for punching his friend (ESPN)."

Edwards is such a punk. Who punches a guy who ways like 130 pounds. All Braylon will ever be is another over hyped WR who is more trouble then he is worth. He has feet for hands, and really doesn't even play like he is a #1 WR on a bad team. I bet the NFL suspends him for a game or 2 for this stunt...

Jets Shopping Thomas Jones

"Michael Lombardi of the National Football Post has heard "talk" that Thomas Jones could be back on the trading block, depending on what the Jets see out of draftee Shonn Greene through this offseason. In mid-May, Lombardi suggested that if he ran the Seattle Seahawks, he'd be on the phone this offseason to the Jets about a trade for Jones. The Cleveland Browns have also been linked to trade rumors regarding Jones, with Braylon Edwards as the bait to land the veteran ball carrier (ESPN)."

I hate the Jets, but this is a good idea by them. I think Thomas Jones is overrated and the Jets have a lot of good RBs (Washington/Greene). What they could really use is a play making WR, but I think the Jets are going to be a year away from being a playoff team. Sanchez is going to need time to grow, and I don't believe in any of their other QBs. If they could get a player like Edwards it could really help Sanchez grow as a QB, but draft picks could also help the team in the long run.

Giants Out Of Edwards Trade Talks

"A source close to the Giants tells me the club is out of the Braylon Edwards talks because the price was too steep. A week ago, it looked like it would happen. Now, it doesn't, with the team committed to finding Plaxico Burress' replacement in the draft. The Giants talked about Anquan Boldin, too, but those talks are dead, too, according to the source. The Giants must find an outside receiver in the draft because, as one source said, "they don't have a No. 1 or No. 2 receiver. They're all threes and fours (Sportsline)."

Oddly enough I am disappointed by this. I hate the Giants, but I also hate Braylon, and I love when players I hate go to teams I hate. Sounds odd...but in my sick mind it makes sense. Anyways, this report is 100% right that the Giants HAVE TO do something about their current WR situation. My thinking is that they should go after Ocho Cinco. I know he is a pain in the ass, but Coughlin can hold him together for a season, and if he is they can cut him. You would think a 2nd or 3rd round pick could be good enough to land him, and that is obviously worth it for the Giants current situation....Otherwise the Giants are going to have to draft a WR, and most of the time it takes a year or two at least to develop one.

Giants Going After Edwards

"Sources close to the New York Giants confirmed the club is working on a deal that could deliver Cleveland wide receiver Braylon Edwards before or during the April 25 draft. However, they said that no deal has been consummated and that it is a work in progress. "But something is going on," said one league executive, "and the Giants are in the middle of it (Sportsline)."

There are a lot of reasons why this would be a great move for the Giants. After losing Plaxico to douchebaggery they need a big strong WR, who can be a playmaker for them. Edwards (even though he sucked last year) could be the answer. Eli needs big WRs to be affective, so I think this is something the Giants have to look at.

This could be a good move by the Browns too, depending on what they get. If they were somehow able to get a first round pick (or more), then they should jump on it. They seem to want to completely rebuild after trading Winslow, and the best way to do that is to stockpile picks.

In the end I hope this happens because I hate Edwards, and I hate the Giants, so I like when these types of things merge.

Browns Looking To Trade Braylon Edwards?

"With everyone waiting for the next word to come out of the NFL owners' meetings on the Jay Cutler situation, another potential trade market is heating up. After a report surfaced over the weekend that confirmed the New York Giants' pursuit of Braylon Edwards, there has now also been "talk" at the owners' meetings about the Philadelphia Eagles possibly making a play for Edwards as well, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer (ESPN)."

Putting my hatred of Braylon Edwards aside, I think it would be stupid for the Browns to deal him. Last year was an aberration in my eyes, and I think he will have a monster year in 2009.

If this is true and he is going to be dealt then the Browns should really look to the Eagles. Philly has a shit load of draft picks, and has been looking for a WR for what seems like forever. If you put McNabb and Edwards on the same team you would see the same kind of production that the Eagles saw with TO during his short time there. The best part of it is they would probably have to deal with half the bullshit that TO caused.

The Giants are also making a run at him, and I think a lot of their interest will hinge on what they decide to do with Plaxico Burress. Still, in the end I think the Browns will keep Edwards. He is just too talented to give up unless these teams are really looking to hand over some serious draft picks.

WTF Braylon!

I just picked this up from Deadspin and all I gotta say is, what the fuck Braylon. I know Michigan sucks right now, but that is what happens when you have a new coach that is implementing a new offense. I could understanding wearing a Ball State, URI, Delaware shirt, but wearing a Penn State jersey. What! Do you know what conference Penn State is in? and do you remember going to Michigan?

That's just not right man.
