Greg Oden's Brother Anthony Will Also Be Unable To Play Sports

But not due to health problems, due to stupidity.

"As ArkansasSports360.com reported previously, Oden, 21, was booked at 8:52 a.m. July 9 in the Washington County Detention Center. He was released at 10:27 a.m. on $2,000 bond, following his arrest by a Fayetteville Police Department officer. Charges included driving left of center, failing to yield to an emergency vehicle, no proof of ownership, driving on a suspended/revoked license and no driver’s license in addition to the DWI and possession charge.

It was Oden’s second arrest since July 4, 2010. He was charged then with DWI and suspended for the season opening game. Oden left Arkansas last year while dealing with what team officials described as “mono.” He re-enrolled for the spring and was among the players being considered for a starting tackle position."Arkansas360

It's something about the little brothers of famous people, ya know. I mean case and point is Marcus Vick, he could have been at least on an NFL but raping, holding up kids at gunpoint and being a fucking moron prevented him from going on to the next level and it seems that Anthony Oden caught that bug too. Another thing is that when you are the kid brother of someone famous you know that the spotlight will be more on you due to your family, so it would be dumb to put yourself in these situations. Like this story, I have no idea if he was a good player or if this is going to hurt Arkansas, but I know it's Greg Oden's brother and he's an asshole.

I Hope The NCAA Strikes Down With Great Vengeance And Furious Anger

Ohio State gave themselves a 2 year self imposed probation and decided to vacate all last years wins (12) and the victory they had in the Sugar Bowl slap on the wrist because of all the trouble for the tattoo parlor scandal that left them Jim Tressle and Terrelle Pryorless.

I think this is a bullshit self imposed fine and I hope when they meet with the NCAA they laugh in their faces and take away the passed 4 years of wins, suspend them from the postseason for the next 3 and take away 10 scholarships. What they are trying to do is smoke and mirrors to pretend like they took action, but they really didn't.

I think the NCAA will go two ways about this, the 1st is leave it as is and try to get passed this embarrassing event, or make an example of them and throw the book at them. And as an avid Ohio State hater, I hope it's the latter and I hope for some reason the sack wack Urban Meyer.

Terrelle Pryor Skipping Senior Season

Amidst all of the turmoil at Ohio State, their star quarterback Terrelle Pryor is skipping his senior season. At 1st glance, there is obviously a lot of shit that is going to fall on him this year, and probably a lot of stuff is going to be dug up on him resulting in his dismissal anyways. Pryor instead is going to enter the NFL supplemental draft that is coming up.

BMack said that this kid sucks, and I disagreed yesterday, but once again stats will back me up and prove that BMack has no idea what he is talking about when it comes to talking college football ala his Julio Jones claim. BMack constantly calls all flashy black players disappointing... racist. Pryor had a 31-4 record as a starter, rushed for an Ohio State quarterback record 2,164 yards and while also passing for 6,177 yards. He was often at his best in big games, holding the school record with seven games with at least 300 yards of total offense and 22 games with at least 200.

Definitely worth a look for any NFL team that would have some time to mold him. This is just another devastating fall to the program that Jim Tressel fucked.

With The 5th Pick In the 2011 NFL Draft the Arizona Cardinals Select.....

DP's Pick:
Von Miller OLB Texas A&M

With Arizona's 3-4 scheme and Joey Porter not coming back Von Miller can be an immediate impact rusher immediately. He has progressed maybe more than any other player in college football in one year. He his extremely athletic, fast and has a huge motor. He will be able to slide right in at Arizona.

BMack's Pick:
Von Miller OLB Texas A&M

I hate agreeing with DP, but of all the picks in the draft I feel most confident in this pick. If Von Miller (who might be the best player in the draft) falls this far the Cardinals have to pick him. Arizona's OLB are aging or nonexistent, and this is by far the best LB in the draft. He can rush of the edge, which is huge with a team playing a 3-4 defense. This guy could be the next Clay Matthews, and I really expect big things from him.

With The 1st Pick In the 2011 NFL Draft the Carolina Panthers Select.....

DP's Pick:

MARCELL DAREUS DT Alabama

This might be a bit of a homer pick because I love the Tide, but I recently have fallen in love with this kid. He's a big mama jama at 319 and has been really successful in a 3-4 and 4-3 schemes at DT. With his quickness he could also be shifted to DE with a 3-4 scheme. The new trend is the Panthers taking Blaine Gabbert here and I just think that would be dumb because they have to give Jimmy Clausen at least another year (even though I'm not a fan). If worse comes to worse he'll tank it and they pick up Andrew Luck or Matt Barkley.

BMack's Pick:

Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri

Let me start by saying that I hate this pick. I agree with DP that Clausen should at least get another year before they just give up on him (and I also agree that I am no longer a believer). Yet, with a new coach the Panthers are going to look for a new "face of the franchise". Sure, this guy isn't a big name, but he will be by the time the draft comes around. ESPN always hypes all these guys, so by then he'll be the "next big thing".

Gabbert has the build of an NFL QB at 6'4" 234 lbs. He is a very accurate QB, although some of his stats don't show it. Scouts point out he didn't have a lot to work with at Missouri. He's got a great arm, and can move around the packet enough to avoid sacks. I'll say I don't like this pick, and if we were just making a list of the best guys in the draft I would probably have him at 5 or 6, but like I said before the Panthers are looking to completely rebuild and a new coach with want "his guy" under center, and that guy will be Blaine Gabbert.

About Time Jim Tressel Got Into Trouble

Wearing a sweater vest doesn't make you an honorable person...

"According to a report by Dan Wetzel and Charlie Robinson of Yahoo! Sports, “coach Jim Tressel was informed that several Buckeyes players were selling memorabilia more than eight months before the school claims it was made aware of the scheme.” That startling accusation stems from a two-month investigation by the website (NBC Sports)."

The NCAA tried to protect Ohio State giving the players that cushy suspension, and not letting them play in a Bowl game, but if this report is true they HAVE TO go after Ohio St/Tressel. If he knew this stuff was going on, and knew if was against the rules then he should've suspended these guys. I know, easier said then done, but now things could get a lot worse in a hurry. Not just from the NCAA, but from Ohio State itself, as it is in his contract that he if he knows of rules violations he is to report to the AD.

Ohio State is one of the schools that the NCAA will do anything to protect, but if this is true then it is time for them to send a message. That message should be that Tressel be suspended for just as long as his players are (5 games).

College Football Recruiting Day

The Top recruiting classes go as follows:
1. FSU
2. Bama
3. Auburn
4. USC
5. Texas
6. Georgia
7. Ohio State
8. Clemson
9. Notre Dame
10. LSU
11. Oklahoma
12. Florida
13. Tennessee
14. Oregon
15. North Carolina

Finally the right Florida team is on top of this board, Jimbo Fisher really recruited the shit out of this class as he got 12 people in the ESPN top 150 including playmaking NT Tim Jernigan and Karlos Williams and Keelin Smith two really good safeties. FSU will be a top 5 team this year led by EJ Manual now that the scumbag Christian Ponder is gone and the powerhouse will be back for years to come.

Oregon vs. Auburn Preview

So after all these shitty bowls we finally get to the one that matter. There is no argument that these are the two best teams, and there is also no doubt that the scoreboard is going to light up tonight.

The over/under of this game is sitting right around 75 points. Let me repeat that, the over/under is 75!!!! That's crazy, and should make for a hell of a show tonight. Both these teams like to run a very fast paced offense, and after such a long layoff the difference could be whoever shakes off the rust faster.

We can't talk about this game without talking about the best player in college football... Cam Newton. Newton has rushed for 1,409 yards and 20 touchdowns but was just as good with his arm, finishing as the nation's top-rated passer with 28 TDs and six interceptions.

I believe that Oregon has the better all around team in my opinion. Darron
Thomas has had a hell of a year at QB with 28 TDs and only 7 INTs, and they have the best running back in the country in LaMichael James, who has 1682 yards rushing with 21 TDs.

Most of the time I pick the team with the best player. In this game that would be Cam Newton, but Auburn has had to comeback in a lot of games this year, and if they let Oregon come out to an early lead I could see them running away from Auburn.

Ducks win 38-27
Player of the Game: LaMichael James
Game starts at 8:30pm on ESPN

Rich Rodriguez Out At Michigan

"Embattled Michigan football coach Rich Rodriguez has been fired, a source tells ESPN's Joe Schad. Michigan released a statement Wednesday saying athletic director Dave Brandon will discuss the state of the program at 12:30 p.m. ET. The source told Schad that Rodriguez is meeting with his staff. A players meeting is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon (ESPN)."

They had been back and forth over the past couple of days, but ti seems like he is finally being let go. I hate Michigan, I really do, but even I think this is a mistake. He has only had 3 years, and I do think he had them generally going in the right direction. Instead of firing him I would've gone out and got a top notch defensive coordinator, because if they had any defense at all they could've been a top 25 team.

NCAA Should Be Ashamed Of Themselves

Ohio State has won the Sugar Bowl in an exciting game that ended up being a lot closer then it seemed like it was going to be early. It should be a day when we celebrate college football, but instead we saw all the skeletons in their closet.

The NCAA made a very controversial decision to let quarterback Terrelle Pryor, running back Dan Herron, receiver DeVier Posey, left tackle Mike Adams, and defensive lineman Solomon Thomas play in the Sugar Bowl and serve their 5 game suspension next season for selling memorabilia items and receiving improper benefits. These 5 guys ended up being the difference in this game. Thomas had a huge interception, Pryor was 14 of 25 passing for 221 yards and 2 touchdowns and adding 115 rush yards on 15 carries. Herron added 87 rush yards and a touchdown, and Posey hauled in a 43-yard touchdown and led the team with 70 receiving yards.

There is no reason that these kids were able to play. They broke the rules and the NCAA acknowledged it by suspending them next season, and yet here they were winning their school money and raising their draft stock.

I don't just blame the NCAA either. I feel Ohio State should've stepped in and suspended them if the NCAA didn't have the balls to. But once again we learn that NCAA and schools only care about enforcing the rules when it doesn't affect their cash flow.

Cam Newton Eligible, His Dad Was The A Hole

"Based on the information available to the reinstatement staff at this time, we do not have sufficient evidence that Cam Newton or anyone from Auburn was aware of this activity, which led to his reinstatement," said Kevin Lennon, NCAA vice president for academic and membership affairs. "From a student-athlete reinstatement perspective, Auburn University met its obligation. ... Under this threshold, the student-athlete has not participated while ineligible."

Good. Now everyone get off his back, give him the Heisman and fucking move on. Sometimes it's hard to feel bad for athletes, but I did with Cam Newton. Other colleges and shady people were taking shots at the Auburn QB out of spite because the Tigers were winning and their teams weren't.

Newton has had a hell of a year individually and although it will be tarnished because his Dad was shopping him around, he should still win the Heisman.

I guess Cecil Newton was shopping him around and since he went to Auburn without a pay for play contract it's irrelevant.

In other college news Jon Gruden is said to have zero interest in joining the U.

TCU and I Are Cool Now

The Horned Frogs have accepted an invitation to join the Big East as an all-sports member, sources told ESPNDallas.com's Richard Durrett on Monday morning. TCU has scheduled a press conference for 1 p.m. CT to make "a major announcement involving the TCU athletics program." ESPN

Way to have balls. TCU wanted to get recognized nationally, they did something about it. The Big East is a little questionable for a Texas team to join, however, you have to admire their will to embrace a somewhat tougher conference.

Hows the crow taste Boise.

Hahahaha Boise State

The drumming that Nevada put on Boise State in their 34-31 win should be talked about here.

I don't care how Nevada won and I don't care about the kicker situation,(obviously Nevada's special teams were too intimidating for Boise State to handle) I care that we don't need to hear from Boise State anymore.

Boise State has been a constant thorn in my side for years. I'm sick of them playing a fluff schedule and then complaining on how the NCAA doesn't respect them. Yes we remember their funny hijinks against Oklahoma, and that was a cool story, but they are just bitchy at this point and I'm glad they got humbled.

They beat an overrated Virgina Tech team and Oregon State.. sweet. Try playing in the SEC, Pac 10, or Big 12, d bags.

Boise State and TCU are scam artists. They found a clever get rich quick scam that got the public to support them using the David vs Goliath and the NCAA is trying to screw them theories.

Boise State and TCU are no longer David's. They have Goliath programs in David conferences. I'm not taking away from the program, they have a good football team, however, just imagine the outcry if Bama or Auburn ran through the Toledos and San Jose States of the world on a weekly basis en route to the coaches trophy.

Boise State go screw and join a real division. Until then you're a 3rd grade bully picking on 1st graders.

Proving The Big Ten Is A Joke

"Illinois and Northwestern agreed Friday to run every offensive play toward the same end zone in their showdown at Wrigley Field this weekend to avoid the possibility of players running into a padded brick wall at the other end of the field.

The surprising announcement came just one day before Saturday's game at the historic home of the Chicago Cubs. Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany said the NCAA waived several playing rules "in the interest of student-athlete safety (CBS)."

Are you fucking kidding me? What is this a two hand touch game in the backyard? What a joke. If the field doesn't fit, then don't play there. It is really that simple.

How the fuck did no one measure this before committing to having the game there? I mean I hope someone is getting fired. Another funny thing is what about those people who bought tickets near the endzone that they aren't going to be playing towards? I mean that sucks, now all the action is going to be on the opposite side of the field.

Anyways, this wouldn't happen in the SEC and the Big Ten should be ashamed of themselves.

Someone's Getting Sued

The field is shoehorned between the third base dugout and the right field fence, leading to tight squeezes behind both end zones. Things grew so cozy on the east end that the goal posts behind it are attached to the fence instead of rising from a stanchion connected to the turf. Some have expressed concern over the layout of the field. Part of one end zone only has six inches of room between the back line and the ivy wall, with only light padding around it. The other end zone lies in front of the third base dugout protected by padding. NESN

If anyone has seen any video everyone and their mother no some kid is going down when Northwestern takes on Illinois. You basically fit a football field in where a football field doesn't belong. I don't know why the NCAA would risk liability to have a game here (maybe Cam Newton is behind this somehow). But this is a dumb idea and if a kid gets seriously injured there will be a lot of finger pointing.

Urban Meyer and the SEC Teams Should Be Ashamed Of Themselves (2 UPDATES)

So now that Ex-Gator and Auburn quarterback Cam Newton is rushing Auburn to the best team in the SEC and leader of the Heisman hopefuls, every other SEC is bringing up his troubled past.

Yes, Cam Newton got suspended from Florida and left after he found out Tebow was coming back. That's well documented and accepted. Now Florida is saying that he got suspended from the team for buying 3 papers online and cheating. I know that Urban Meyer has denied releasing this information, but lets not forget how big of a scumbag he actually is. I would not put it past this man, he in the past has been arrogant, and a drama queen(remember the "heart attack" incident), meanwhile every other player who plays for Florida gets arrested and for some reason the NCAA turns the other cheek. I can really see Urban Meyer pissed his team isn't in the top 25 and out of the spotlight and try to have negative press toward his rival.

I know there is already drama surrounding a potential pay-to-play controversy, which Auburn has denied vehemently. The past is the past, and should be left there. We can only take Auburns word for it and have the NCAA investigate privately.

What is getting lost in this whole negative press is that Cam Newton is probably going through a whole lot of bullshit that he could be innocent for. It's probably creating controversy in his day to day activity, whether it be walking to class, eating lunch or going out to dinner in the Auburn area. This is probably going to destroy his well deserved Heisman trophy (which it should be his to lose) amidst the whole Reggie Bush scandal.

However, if he does get found guilty I retract everything I just said.

***UPDATE***

ESPN Dallas' Ian Fitzimmons reporting that within 3-4 hrs the NCAA is going to suspend Cam Newton. Obviously a huge blow to Auburn, and this will kill any chance of him winning the Heisman. We will have more information when it becomes available.

***UPDATE 2***

MSNBC is now reporting that the suspension rumors are untrue, and he should be on the field against Georgia. The rumor gained so much attention that Vegas has pulled the line for the game off the board. We will let you know more when it becomes available.

Urban Meyer Is A Bumbling Hypocrite

Urban Meyer said that he and the football team only likes to have players that respect women. But yet he reinstated Chris Rainey whom got arrested for hating women and send texts to a woman, "Time to die bitch". In my eye's he should be suspended for the season which he was originally suspended for. But I guess a loss to Bama and LSU really made Chris Rainey really sorry and all has been forgiven.

Urban Meyer has to go down sooner or later. Since joining the team 30 of his guys have been arrested and there is no doubt in my mind the recruiting process is dirty. I can't wait to sit back and watch all Tebow and Florida's wins go away.

Boise State Is Annoying Me

I like Boise State when they were a gimmick team that got lucky every once in a while and beat Oklahoma with a hook and latter and a statue of liberty play. However, now that they beat Virginia Tech, I'm going to have to listen to their BCS Championship BS all year. They are like the Brett Favre of college football, they are always around and always get talked about far to much. I really hope some team in the WAC is able to pull a miracle and upset the Broncos (I'm looking at you Kaepernick and Nevada). A lot of people root for this underdog and think they are deserving but to be honest with you, I would rather watch the third best SEC team in a BCS Championship game then Boise State.

Fuck Idaho, Die.

Nevada/ Fresno State Moving To Mountain West

Fresno State and Nevada ended a day of fast-paced change by accepting invitations to join the Mountain West Conference, which has added three prominent members of the Western Athletic Conference in the past two months. ESPN

Suddenly the Mountain West Conference has just got a little sexier with the addition of Boise State, Nevada and Fresno State. With BYU up in the air of whether they will go independent or not, the MWC has blazed their own trail. Boise State is obviously a great addition, but Nevada and Fresno State were probably the best two teams left in the WAC so this sucks for them. I can't imagine the WAC surviving this with only Hawaii being the only team left.

I actually like Nevada over Boise State this year. Nevada is ready to jump and with Colin Kaepernick being a senior they need to go "all in" this year. I'm not saying that they will be a top 10, but I'm willing to bet my share of DC that they will beat Boise St. this year and will finish the year in the top 25.
