BC to Play in San Francisco

Once again, BC will make the trip to San Francisco, this time to play in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl. They'll once again face a quality opponent, this time in #15 Nevada. The Wolfpack are 12-1, their only loss coming at Hawaii. They were the ones who beat Boise State.

Oh, and San Francisco is about 220 miles from Reno. So, don't expect BC to be the favorites in this once. Then again, I think the Eagles' defense might prevent utter humiliation. And if BC do somehow find a way to win, it'll be a nice cap to a forgettable season. Though, that's wishful thinking.

BC football has gotten to the point that they're expected to make bowl games, even when having off years. That's good. But they've been stuck in this rut, cycling through the same low-level ACC affiliated bowls, for some time now. Can the program move forward, and contend for those higher games, like the Chick-fil-A and Champs Sports Bowl?

I doubt it, at least in the foreseeable future. And down the road in Storrs, the UConn Huskies are going to a BCS Bowl. They won the big game at the end of the year, which BC has failed to do in years past. And winners get the glory.

The game will be played in the Giants' homefield of AT&T Park on January 9, at 9.

Nevada/ Fresno State Moving To Mountain West

Fresno State and Nevada ended a day of fast-paced change by accepting invitations to join the Mountain West Conference, which has added three prominent members of the Western Athletic Conference in the past two months. ESPN

Suddenly the Mountain West Conference has just got a little sexier with the addition of Boise State, Nevada and Fresno State. With BYU up in the air of whether they will go independent or not, the MWC has blazed their own trail. Boise State is obviously a great addition, but Nevada and Fresno State were probably the best two teams left in the WAC so this sucks for them. I can't imagine the WAC surviving this with only Hawaii being the only team left.

I actually like Nevada over Boise State this year. Nevada is ready to jump and with Colin Kaepernick being a senior they need to go "all in" this year. I'm not saying that they will be a top 10, but I'm willing to bet my share of DC that they will beat Boise St. this year and will finish the year in the top 25.

College Football Picks

Two players: Julio Jones, Mark Ingram. Both of these players are impact players and even though V-Tech's D is impressive, there is no stopping those two players. Plus Bama's defense is going to rearing to go after that terrible Utah loss in the Sugar Bowl.

Nevada over (23) Notre Dame


Not only will Colin Kaepernick be a Heisman finalist, but he will lead the Nevada Wolfpack over the highly overrated Notre Dame. This game will be close, but that's Kaepernick's style.

Maybe My Favorite College QB

Just like legends in my mind who preceded him like Brad Smith of Mizzou, Bryan Randall of Virginia Tech, Josh Freeman of K-State, and Tyrod Taylor of Virginia Tech, my new favorite quarterback in college football is Nevada's Colin Kaepernick. I will boldly predict future Heisman candidate and future NFL quarterback. I remember seeing Colin play in his first game starting ever last year when he played Boise State and put up 243 yards passing with 3 TD's and rushing for another 177 yards and 2 scores. This year he threw for over 2,000 yards and ran for over 1,000. He is only going to get better as the years happen.

So with that being said let the 2009 Kaupernick Heisman talks begin.
