Red Sox 9, Athletics 4

Victor Martinez was 5 for 5 with 4 doubles as the Sox' offense propelled them to their 30th win of the season. And yes, the Sox are still in 4th, but it's a strong 4th. They'd be leading the AL West, or be a very close second in every other division in baseball apart from the AL East.

John Lackey was as mediocre as ever allowing 12 freaking hits over 6 innings of hard work. He threw 116 pitches and allowed 4 earned runs. Declarmen and Bard were perfect when the game was tight. It was nice to see the Sox exploit Oakland's bullpen, pull away, and give Papelbon the night off.

Adrian Beltre was 3 for 5 with a huge 3 run homer. He's hitting .342 this season, but more impressively he's .367 with runners on and .423 with runners in scoring position. Screw run prevention, A-Bel is giving the Sox some much needed run production.

But as Victor Martinez and Adrian Beltre soar, Dustin Pedroia struggles. He was 1 for 5 last night, but he's 10 for his last 68 (.147), and only two of those hits were for extra bases. He'll likely break out of it, but he's a cornerstone to a successful Sox offense. Without Pedroia, and with Ellsbury "injured," this team lacks table-setters.

Interesting game to watch tonight as Daisuke Matsuzaka faces Ben Sheets. Daisuke's only allowed 3 hits in his last two starts. But he's also surrendered 12 walks. And I do mean surrender.

Holyfield Offered Title Fight

Are you serious? Has boxing really fallen this far? Heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev has offered a title shot to Evander Holyfield. The fight would take place in December. I really hope that Holyfield turns this down. One, its a joke, and this is just a sad publicity stunt. Two, I really would rather not watch Holyfield die in the ring. He has no shot to win this fight, and he needs to let it go. So many fighters stay in the ring too long, and end up hurting their legacy (Tyson, and Ali to a point). Please, this fight will be like when Apollo Creed fought Ivan Drago, and if I remember correctly that didn't go so well.

Rocky Balboa

We all love the Rocky movies, but there are many people out there that hated the 5th and 6th one. Well I have to tell you that I believe very differently.

Here is how I rank them:

1. Rocky I- Won best picture of the year, nothing more needs to be said
2. Rocky IV- Defeats Communism with one win, and a stirring speech
3. Rocky II- Gets his first win
4. Rocky VI (Rocky Balboa)- Little slow, but final fight more than makes up for it, plus good references back to old ones, oh and the best part is that Adrian is dead!
5. Rocky V- Not a good movie, but not as bad as everyone makes it out to be
6. Rocky III- Terrible for a bunch of reasons...1. Fights Hulk Hogan 2. Mick dies 3. Very gay scene when Apollo Creed and Rocky have very questionable "man hug".

Disagree as much as you want, but you know its true. When that scene came up you almost vomited.
