Floyd Mayweather Gets Punchy

Floyd Money Mayweather is having his Tiger Woods like fall from grace pretty impressively. First he goes on a racist tangent about Manny Pacquio and then he gets in a scuffle with his girlfriend and hits her a couple time and is big trouble.

I'm pretty sure this is getting blown out of proportion, but I don't respect a man who hits a woman so in my eye's he's pretty much a scumbag. I guess in the altercation he threatened the woman's life who he lived with her two kids, which sounds nothing different than my childhood.

When this turns out to be nothing, I guess I'm rooting for Manny.

Floyd Mayweather Join New Weight Class

Floyd Mayweather has decided that fighting Manny Pacquiao isn't the challenge he is looking for, so he has decided to switch to fighting women instead.

"Police sought boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. for questioning Thursday about a domestic battery report filed by an ex-girlfriend who recanted a similar claim in 2005, police and his lawyer said.

"She alleges he hit her. We're looking for him to get his side of the story," said Officer Barbara Morgan, a Las Vega police spokeswoman. "We're looking to talk to him as a potential suspect."

No warrant was issued, and no charges were immediately filed (ESPN)."

There is a very good chance Mayweather did nothing wrong, but fuck him. After his stupid racist rant the other day, and now this the media is all over him. Yet, am I the only one who doesn't care? Boxing is dead till they get this guy in the ring aginast Pacquiao and if he doesn't do that then I hope he spends the rest of his life behind bars, because that's what he deserves for ripping off boxing fans, and killing the sport.

Mayweather In Trouble For Racist Comments

ESPN is reporting that the National Federation of Filipino American Associations are lashing out against Floyd Mayweather, Jr. after he released a racially insensitive video about Manny Pacquiao, who hails from the country.

“Once I stomp the midget, I’ll make that mother [expletive] make me a sushi roll and cook me some rice,” Mayweather said in the video.

Pacquiao responded by calling the video “an uneducated message,” but the NaFFAA is willing to go farther than that.

“We are outraged by Mayweather’s racially offensive remarks,” the NaFFAA said in a statement. “This disgusting diatribe against Pacquiao is a racial slur against all Filipinos and Filipino Americans and an embarrassment not only to the boxing community, but to all Americans. Talking trash may be common between boxing rivals, but Mayweather’s racially laced profanities brazenly crossed the line of decency and respectability. Pacquiao, on the other hand, has taken the high road and acted like the gentleman that he is (WEEI).”

I don't really have a problem with what Mayweather said, because at the end of the day these guys are going to end up in a ring together, and Pacquiao will get his chance to shut Mayweather up. But there are a couple things I do have a problem with.

First off, if this was turned around and Pacquiao went off on a racial slur rampage against Mayweather this country, and Mayweather would've thrown a fit. But yet no one really cares about this. But whatever, that's just the way things are.

What REALLY pisses me off is that fact that Mayweather is talking shit when once again he was the one who stopped this fight from happening. When they were first promoting this fight I really wanted Mayweather to win. I still think he will win, but I'm rooting for Pacquiao. Mayweather is a douche, he won't fight Pacquiao because he is worried about losing his undefeated stature, and decided it was better to diddle himself for a year.

Anyways, boxing is dead to me until these two fight.

Mayweather Is A Pussy

Floyd Mayweather Jr. allowed a deadline for striking a deal on a superfight with Manny Pacquiao to pass without saying anything. Last time this fight was cancelled was because Pacquiao wouldn't agree to the drug testing Mayweather wanted. Pacquiao has since caved to those demands, yet Mayweather still won't fight him. Mayweather says now that he is in no rush to fight Pacquiao.

All of this is just complete bullshit. The real reason he won't fight him is because he has an actual shot at losing this fight. Don't get me wrong if this fight was tomorrow I would still say Mayweather would win, but he is worried about losing his "undefeated status".

Boxing is so fucked up. Someone really needs to step up and make this fight happen. I've said it before and I'll say it again...there is no way I am watching another boxing event until these two fight. This sport has ripped me off enough, that there is no way I'm falling for it again unless the fans get what they want.

Basically, stop being a pussy Mayweather and give the fans what they want/deserve.

Mayweather vs. Pacquiao Back On?

Well at least Pacquiao's trainer thinks so...

"I think the fight will happen," said Roach. "It will probably be November, maybe October," Roach added. "November's not a great pay-per-view month, but I think it will happen."

To me this means that Pacquiao is going to stop bitching about the drug testing, and finally cave. I have stayed true to my word that I will not watch boxing until these two fight. Boxing always pulls this shit, and I am hoping this time they get it right, because if not this sport is dead to me. I refused to watch either of these guys last fight, because it is not the fight everyone wants, and that is what should happen.

Mayweather Blasts Pacquiao

"Floyd Mayweather Jr. blamed Manny Pacquiao for the collapse of their prospective bout Thursday, claiming the Filipino boxer refuses to accept a reasonable compromise on drug testing concerns. Mayweather also says he's still ready to sign a deal for the fight, which was slated for March 13 at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas before Pacquiao promoter Top Rank declared it dead Wednesday night.

"In my opinion it is Manny Pacquiao and his team who are denying the people a chance to see the biggest fight ever," Mayweather said. "I know the people will see through their smokes screens and lies. I am ready to fight and sign the contract. Manny needs to stop making his excuses, step up and fight (CBSSports)."

I am not watching a single boxing event until these guys fight. I said it yesterday, and I'll say it again, boxing always finds a way to shoot itself in the foot, and this just proves that. I am on Mayweather's side here, since he isn't fighting about, but rather that this is a fair fight. I know the testing is a little much compared to what the Nevada Boxing Commission does, but I really don't care. Just get it gone, and get in the ring!!!!!!!!

Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Fight Cancelled

"The much-anticipated showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, tentatively scheduled for March 13 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, has collapsed, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum told ESPN.com on Wednesday night.

"The fight's off," Arum, who promotes Pacquiao, said from Las Vegas.

The fight died after a last-ditch attempt at mediation between Top Rank and Golden Boy, which represents Mayweather, failed in an effort to determine the drug-testing protocol.

Pacquiao had agreed to move off his hard-line stance of refusing a blood test inside 30 days before the fight, but Mayweather wouldn't budge off his desire for random testing all the way until the fight, Arum said. Nor would Mayweather agree to a public apology for remarks he made accusing Pacquiao of using performance-enhancing drugs, Arum said.

"I am very disappointed that we could not make this fight for the fans and I am angered because of the false accusations from Golden Boy and the Mayweather camp that I used some type of drugs, and that is why I have instructed our American lawyers to proceed with the lawsuit to clear my name," Pacquiao said in a statement (ESPN)."

Well boxing has done it once again. Just when there was a chance of this sport becoming relevant once again they go and blow it. To be honest there has to be much more to this then just the steroid testing, but still I blame Pacquiao. Why not just agree to all the testing. There is so much money to be made here, and yet they are willing to throw it all away just because Mayweather wants more testing, just seems silly to me.

Anyways, way to go boxing, you have once again shown us that the fighters don't care at all about who is the best of all time (or about the fans)...

Pacquiao Files Suit Against Mayweather

"Manny Pacquiao upped the ante Wednesday in his standoff with Floyd Mayweather Jr. by filing a lawsuit alleging that Mayweather and others defamed him by falsely accusing Pacquiao of using performance-enhancing drugs. The suit filed in federal court in Las Vegas further complicates efforts to reach an agreement for a proposed March 13 fight between the two boxers. The fight has been stalled by demands by the Mayweather camp that both fighters submit to random blood and urine tests leading up to the bout.

Pacquiao claimed in the suit that he has never tested positive for any performance-enhancing drugs, but that Mayweather, his father and uncle, Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions chief Richard Schaefer embarked on a campaign to make people think he used drugs.

"The truth did not stop Mayweather and the others," the suit contends. "That is because they are motivated by ill will, spite, malice, revenge and envy."

Pacquiao's attorney, Dan Petrocelli, said his client could be out millions of dollars if boxing fans believe he used steroids or human growth hormone to win titles in seven weight classes.

"The damage to his reputation and lost business opportunities could be in the tens of millions of dollars," Petrocelli said (CBSSports)."

This fucking blows. Everyone wants to see this fight, and it seems like at the very least it is going to be delayed. Pacquiao might be right, and he may never have used steroids, but I find that there is zero excuse not to take more drug tests. What negative affect could it have? Anyways, these guys need to get this fight done. Boxing needs this, and there is just too much money being thrown around not to have a fight.

Manny Pacquiao Just Another Steroid User?

"The Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather welterweight title megafight, tentatively scheduled for March 13 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, is in jeopardy. According to Golden Boy Promotions, which is representing Mayweather, Pacquiao refused Tuesday to agree to the Olympic-style drug testing procedures the sides had been negotiating.

Mayweather requested that the drug testing for the fight be in compliance with the United States Anti Doping Agency, which handles drug testing for Olympians, "to ensure fair play and sportsmanship by both fighters."

Floyd Mayweather Sr., the fighter's father, has repeatedly accused Pacquiao of taking illegal substances, even though Pacquiao denies it and he has never failed a drug test. According to Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer, who is negotiating the deal with Top Rank president Todd duBoef, Pacquiao refuses to have his blood drawn within 30 days of the bout based on his superstition of testing so close to a fight.

"Todd told me that Pacquiao has difficulty with taking blood and doesn't want to do it so close to the fight," Schaefer said. "He, Pacquiao, would only agree to have blood drawn before the kick-off press conference and after the fight."

Told of Pacquiao's reluctance to be tested, Mayweather said he should explain himself.

"I understand Pacquiao not liking having his blood taken because, frankly, I don't know anyone who really does," Mayweather said in a statement. "But in a fight of this magnitude, I think it is our responsibility to subject ourselves to sportsmanship at the highest level. I have already agreed to the testing and it is a shame that he is not willing to do the same. It leaves me with great doubt as to the level of fairness I would be facing in the ring that night.

"I hope that this is either some miscommunication or that Manny will change his mind and step up and allow these tests, which were good enough for all these other great athletes, to be performed by USADA (ESPN)."

I honestly can't believe this story. Pacquiao was becoming a hero of mine, and if he won this fight he would go down as the best pound for pound fighter of all time, but you don't refuse this kind of drug testing unless you got something to hide. I hope it is just a "miscommunication", but I doubt it. I was going to root for Pacquiao in this fight, but now I hope Mayweather whoops the shit out of him. I'll lose all respect for Pacquiao if he is a steroid user, or refuses tests further...

What a blow it for be for the Philippines (and Mexico). There isn't really a lot of Filipino heroes, and if Pacquiao ends up being just another fraud it would be heart breaking for the entire area.

Mayweather Agrees To Fight Pacquiao

The proposed super fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather is getting closer.

Mayweather agreed to terms for the welterweight title bout on Tuesday, multiple sources with knowledge of the negotiations told ESPN.com.

The proposed date is March 13, although there is a chance it could move to May 1, sources said. Mayweather, according to a source close to him, is OK with either date.

Pacquiao and Mayweather have fought recent bouts at catch weights. However if they complete their deal, the bout would be contested at 147 pounds, the maximum for a welterweight fight, a source said. ESPN

I haven't been a boxing fan since Tyson stepped out of the ring, but this year I have got back into it and it's been awesome. The Mayweather/ Marquez fight was eye opening to me about how elusive and amazing Floyd really is. It honestly looked like he took a brisk jog after destroying Marquez. And the Pacquiao/ Cotto fight was really good too. I had no idea Pacman could take punches like he did and still utterly dominate Cotto. So who do I think is going to win? Mayweather easily do to size and quickness (I know, I feel crazy saying quickness referring to a Pacman opponent.) But I guess we will have to see whenever the fight is announced.

Pacquiao Calls Out Mayweather

"Manny Pacquiao believes the biggest potential fight in boxing will never happen because Floyd Mayweather Jr. wants no part of him. Pacquiao is training in Hollywood for his meeting with Miguel Cotto on Nov. 14 in Las Vegas, but the pound-for-pound champion spared a moment Thursday to evaluate his chances of fighting Mayweather, the unbeaten pay-per-view king. Although the matchup almost certainly would be a financial bonanza for both fighters, Pacquiao thinks fans shouldn't hold their breath.

"I don't think it's going to happen," Pacquiao said. "I'm sure he doesn't want to fight. Boxing for him is like a business. He doesn't care about the people around him watching. He doesn't care if the fight is boring, as long as the fight is finished and he gets [plenty of] money. ... I want people to be happy. You have a big responsibility as a boxer (Sportsline)."

You never know what to believe in boxing. This could just be an attempt to hype up the fight, or it could be for real. Either way, Mayweather would kill Pacquiao. If you want a good fight Mayweather should fight Sugar Shane Mosley.

Money May Mouths Off, Tiger and LeBron Nod in Agreement

It might take a few more years before we reach that racial equality Teddy Kennedy spent so much time fighting for. At least according to Floyd Mayweather Jr. Ahead of Saturday's fight against Juan Manuel Marquez, Mayweather had this to say about his legacy and fame:

If you're rich, you're a rich nigga," he said. "If you're poor, you're a poor nigga. If you're smart, you're a smart nigga. At the end of the day, they still look at me as a nigga." [Ed Note: At least they won't look at you as a nigger though right Floyd?]

This country needs to be more positive," he said. "We're already at war. We're in a recession, we're at war and we continue to be negative. The fans in the UK showed me more love than in my own country. That's crazy ... Sometimes I'll sit back, I'll be in my theater sometimes, and I'll think: 'Imagine if I was the same fighter that I am, and I was the same person that I am, and I was from another country. Can you just imagine how big I'd be?'

"But I wouldn't change my life for nothing in the world. There's nothing like being young, black and rich. But there are certain things you think about. If Floyd Mayweather was white, I'd be the biggest athlete in America. The biggest, the biggest. I know that for a fact."

This was allegedly in response to the way the media has handled his role in a recent Las Vegas shooting and his IRS problems. Now I'm with him up to this point. But his comments later on in the press conference just cross the line. Larry Merchant don't know nothing about what?

If he wants us white people to start respecting him, he better start respecting his elders. Emanuel is an Uncle Tom though.

Money May In Peak Form

Floyd is on his worldwide media tour promoting his upcoming fight with Juan Manual Marquez so we've seen him show up on ESPN News earlier in the week (video posted here) and just yesterday he made an appearance with Brian Kenny on the real ESPN.

Highly entertaining as all Mayweather interviews are. Also quite long, coming in at a shade over 13 minutes. Worth the full watch though. Floyd makes lots of great points and love him or hate him, it is almost impossible to disagree with him.

Fast forward to the 9 minute mark and you'll find him speaking not so nicely about current welterweight champ Shane Moseley (What? Are you talking about 5 loss Shane Moseley?). The recurring theme for the entire interview is Floyd's (perhaps accurate) view that the media has an Obama-like love affair going with Pac Man. The man has a point, in his entire career, Pac hasn't brought in the PPV numbers that Mayweather brought in during his last two fights.

Floyd Mayweather on ESPN Yesterday

Floyd "Money" Mayweather got a little heated during an interview on ESPN yesterday. He was on the defensive a bit, after the interviewer suggested that Pacquiao was the best pound for pound fighter after Floyd left the ring on his year and a half hiatus. Despite his arrogance, this guy sure is entertaining. Mayweather went on to state "I don't fight for bragging rights, I fight for checks." I think he draws so much of an audience because people would LOVE to see him get knocked on his ass for once, yet when it comes down to it he never fails to impress. Anyone in the sports world that's only in it for the money is technically in it for the wrong reason, but let's be honest here, it's the major motivator for the majority of athletes if you ask me.

Floyd Mayweather may be retired, but he is still ballin. With these hard economic times it is good to see someone is giving back:

I need to find out when Mayweather is coming to New Orleans next. I need the money and I will just constantly stand next to him and collect money.

Money May Wants Piece of Pacman

In the most predictable sports news of the decade, unconfirmed sources are reporting that Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather is getting hungry for a shot at Manny Pacquiao. These sources claim PBF made numerous phone calls in the hours after Pacquiao's dismantling of Oscar De la Hoya informing family and friends of his desires.

Pacman, for his part, is supposed to fight Ricky Hatton sometime in early 2009. This is a fight he is easily expected to win. Hatton, while younger than DLH is just as slow and would be no match for Pac's speed and power. Ricky's only advantage is his size and I think Pac has proven he can fight with the big boys. His trainer, Freddy Roach, said the fight will probably take place at a catch weight between 140 and 147.

Assuming a Pacquiao win, a fall clash with Mayweather would be the fight of the century. It would be speed vs speed and power vs power. Boxing has lost its mainstream fan base over the years because people perceive it as boring. The lack of a respectable heavy weight helps this perception but a match up between fighters of this caliber will certainly put that notion to rest.

An interesting side note to all of this is that one of May's phone calls allegedly went to his estranged father, Floyd Mayweather Sr. Pops claims his son was looking for a trainer but there is no reason to believe Jr would want to replace his uncle Roger. No reason other than the almighty dollar that is. Sr has been training Hatton and most agree he is doing a solid job. If he does too solid a job and Hatton pulls off the upset of upsets, Jr would be out one hell of a payday.
