Clippers Trade Baron Davis To Cleveland

"The Los Angeles Clippers and Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed in principle to a trade that would send Baron Davis and the Clippers' 2011 first-round draft pick to Cleveland in exchange for Mo Williams and Jamario Moon, league sources confirmed to ESPN.com (ESPN)."

I love Baron Davis, but he come into this year completely out of shape, and has been heckled by the owner of the Clippers. So, it was time to go. This move saves the Clippers a ton of money and although I don't like Mo Williams he was pretty good when Lebron was there, so maybe he can regain his stride with Griffin.

Baron Davis is still due $28 million over the next two season, so getting him out was a must for LA. Moon's contract is up after this year, so that'll be off the books. Plus, Williams contract is for a little over $9 million this year with a player option for $8 million next year. If the Clippers could somehow get him to not want that, this would be a great deal, but most likely he will pick up his option.

For Cleveland, ummm this isn't going to end well. Baron Davis got fat for the Clippers now he is going to the worst team in the NBA. Something tells me he isn't going to put 100% effort in (great beard though). But the big thing here is they might get the #1 pick in the NBA draft. This isn't an awesome draft, but the Cavs need a "face of the franchise" guy, and this is really the only way they are going to get one.

Cavs 108 Celtics 88

The Celtics were the better team in the first half, but the Cavs just had too much talent on their side, and blew out the Celtics in the 2nd on their way to a 108-88 win. Lebron had 36 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds, and Mo Williams scored 14 of his 19 points in the 4th quarter.

I wouldn't read too much into this loss. The Celtics were playing without arguably their best player (Pierce), and the Cavs could be the best team in the NBA. With that being said, there has been an ominous trend all season that the Celtics play really well in the 1st half only to turn around and fall flat on their faces in the 2nd. Whether it is age, bad coaching, or just a lack of focus the Celtics need to figure this out before the playoffs begin.

Still, you couldn't expect the Celtics to win this game, and there is a silver lining to this game. Shaq injured his thumb and early reports say it could be serious. Obviously this is good news for the Eastern Conference, since the Cavs will be weak up front without him, or at least until they get Big Z back.

Another good sign is that Ray Allen continued his hot streak with 21 points, and Rajon Rondo had another good game putting up 19 points, 11 assists, and 4 boards. I feel like the Celtics as a team are heading in the right direction, but I would really like to see them play some stronger in the 2nd half once Pierce returns.

Cavs Trade For Mo Williams

Finally it seems like Cavs have got Lebron some help. Mo Williams is headed to Cleveland in a 6 player 3 team deal that is being finalized as I type. The 3 team involved Milwaukee, Cleveland, and Oklahoma City. The Bucks will receive Damon Jones from Cleveland along with guard Luke Ridnour and forward Adrian Griffin from Oklahoma City. Oklahoma City will get veteran forward Joe Smith from Cleveland. Mo Williams averaged a little over 17 points a game last year, and might give the Cavs just enough to be back in contention in the East. The question is, is it enough to challenge the Celtics, Pistons, 76ers, and Magic?
