Some Love For Sam Bradford

A lot of people heard that Tom Brady broke the record for most attempts without an interception, but no one is really talking about Sam Bradford breaking Peyton Manning's record for completions as a rookie quarterback by completing 28 of his 37 throws. He has 335 completions in 2010, which eclipses Manning's 327 completions in 1998.

That's damn impressive when you think about the lack of talent that he has around him. It is very rare for a rookie QB to come in and have such a huge affect, but Bradford has done just that. Now we will see him in the playoffs something Peyton Manning was unable to do. If the Rams can get some more talent around him, and he can stay healthy Bradford might just turn into one of the best QBs in the NFL.

Celtics 109 Knicks 97

Last night was the first time in a long time that Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett dominated a game. Pierce scored 29 points, Garnett had 22 and Boston cruised to its third straight lopsided victory at home. Now if they could only do this against good teams.

Rajon only had 5 point, but he didn't need to score. His 12 assists were enough to keep the Celtics offense flowing (Rondo had 12 assists in just 27 minutes and tied Bob Cousy for 5th place among Celtics players for assists in one season with 642). This is actually the statline you want to see from Rajon. If he doesn't have to score, but puts up a bunch of assists, it usually means the Celtics offense is doing well.

The Celtics moved into a 3rd place tie in the East with Atlanta, which lost to Toronto last night. That is all well and good, but this upcoming road trip should give us an answer to whether or not the Celtics are playing better or just beating up terrible teams. On the road trip the Celtics play Houston, Dallas and Utah, all of which are playoff teams.

Drew Brees Already A Hall of Famer?

This has been on my mind all morning. Is Drew Brees already a Hall of Famer. My answer in short is no, but he will be.

So far in Brees career he has had 31,450 yards 213 TDs 112 INTs (including playoffs). He holds basically every major single season records for the Saints, and has even set some NFL records...

- Most completions for a season - 440 (2007 Season)
- Highest Completion percentage for a season - 70.62 (2009 Season)
- Most completions for a Super Bowl game (tied) - 32 (Super Bowl XLIV)

Pretty impressive for someone who is only 31 years old. There is no doubt in my mind that Drew Brees will be a Hall of Famer, because I believe that this young, high powered offense is going to be able to help him keep putting up amazing stats for at least the next 2-3 year, which will be enough to raise his numbers to the point that there is no question that he is a Hall of Famer. I've always been a big Drew Brees fan and I am glad that he has found a home where is will be treated like the great QB that he is. A couple more years of this and I think he enters the Manning, and Brady class.

Fisk Calls It Like He Sees It

People are going to slam McGwire for awhile, and he 100% deserves it, but I thought Fisk did a hell of a job...

"[McGwire] says, 'Well, it doesn't help eye-and-hand coordination.' Well, of course it does," Fisk told the Tribune for Wednesday's editions. "It allows you more acuity physically and mentally and optically. You are going to be stronger and you are going to be better.

"Some of these numbers that are out there are really warped. Should they be considered? You saw how McGwire was viewed in the Hall of Fame voting. If you take the length of time that [steroid users] use that stuff and subtract 15 or 20 home runs a year for those guys, where are their numbers then?"

Oh, and he doesn't stop there. He goes on to attack McGwire for saying that the PEDs did not help his home run production (the biggest piece of shit lie ever!!!)...

"That's a crock," Fisk told the Tribune. "There's a reason they call it performance-enhancing drugs. That's what it does -- performance enhancement. You can be good, but it's going to make you better. You can be average, but it is going to make you good. If you are below average, it is going to make you average. Some guys who went that route got their five-year, $35 million contracts and now are off into the sunset somewhere. Because once they can't use [steroids] anymore, they can't play anymore."

"Try having your knees operated on and catching for 30 years," Fisk added. "Do you think you feel good when you go out there? [McGwire] had to stand around and play first base. So excuuuuuse me."

Then he started after Clemens...

"The reason he got let go from the Red Sox [after the 1996 season] was because he was starting to break down," Fisk told the Tribune. "His last couple of years in Boston just weren't very productive, a la 'The Rocket.' Then all of a sudden he goes to Toronto and he wants to show somebody something. Then he gets two consecutive Cy Young Awards [in '97 and '98]. Come on, give me a bucket.

"It's obvious to players. You notice that stuff. You know how hard it is to play the game. You know how hard it is to be productive at any age, but especially at an older age. You see guys who are as productive later on as they were early [in their careers]. It offends guys that stayed clean."

Sorry about all the quotes, but they are all too classic to not put them up. I agree 100% with everything Fisk had to say, but the sad thing is there is very little you can do about it now, other then not letting it happen again. McGwire, Bonds, Sosa, are all in the record books already. I don't see the MLB having the balls to take them out, and you really can put a asterisk next to their name, because you don't really know who did and who didn't use steroids. I guess you could put it next to McGwire's name because he admitted it, but what does that do? If you did that it would just give another reason for guys like Bonds and Sosa to never admit it.

Baseball is my favorite sport right now, it is too bad that we sat back and revered something that was fake. Guys like Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth should be revered and atop the record books, but now we are stuck with talented players who may have been good enough to break these records without any help, but did it anyways (when actually the doctors should probably be the ones given credit).

It's just too bad.

Chris Johnson Going For NFL Rushing Record

"The Tennessee Titans may try to get Chris Johnson the single season rushing record on Sunday, especially if his teammates have a say. Johnson needs 234 yards to eclipse the record of 2,105, but for now the goal may be 2,000 yards. After all, you can't just hope for 234 yards any given game.

But they play the lowly Seahawks and, as Titans WR Kenny Britt told the Tennessean, "We know when his name goes in the history books, ours does too." So the players may be pushing Johnson to aim for the record, but Seattle coach Jim Mora was more realistic: "That's a lot of yards for one game (ESPN)."

It will be hard to get 234 yards, but with how bad the Seahawks have been playing anything is possible. At least this gives Titans fans a reason to watch. Also, it will be interesting to see how Vince Young bounces back after an awful game against the Chargers.

Prediction: Johnson falls 50 yards short of the record, but Titans win in a blowout.

Red Sox 4 Orioles 0

Lester vs. the Orioles is about the surest pick you can make in baseball. Lester is now 8-0 with a 2.18 ERA against Baltimore in 10 career starts. Last night he threw 7 scoreless innings while striking out 8. Papelbon got the final out with two on to earn his 132nd career save, tying Bob Stanley for the most in Red Sox history. Papelbon has 19 saves this season in 20 opportunities. Oh yea, and he 20 for 20 in save opportunities against Baltimore with a 0.39 ERA...WOW.

Pedroia started the scoring in the first inning with an RBI single, then in the 4th Tek made it 2-0 with his RBI single. J.D. Drew put the game out of reach in the same inning with a 2 run blast (his 10th of the season).

Once again Boston's bullpen was amazing throwing two scoreless innings while using 4 pitchers. With the win the Sox are now 3 1/2 games ahead of the Yankees for 1st place in the AL East.

Randy Johnson Joins 300 Club

"Johnson became the 24th pitcher to reach the milestone, and he did it as a mature pitcher, not the overpowering tangle of arms and legs who was all about strikeouts early in his career. He walked two, struck out two, allowed only an unearned run and threw 50 of his 78 pitches for strikes. He faced four batters above the minimum and got shutout relief from his bullpen (ESPN)."

Randy Johnson played most of his career has the angry head hunting power pitcher, but over the past couple of seasons he has transformed himself into more of a "pitcher". What I mean by that is he no longer has the stuff to overpower guys, but he still is affective by placing his pitches in the right spots, and out thinking hitters. This may be the last time we see a guy get his 300th win, so it is a very special day. In a time when very few pitchers pitch more then 6 innings you have to give credit to a guy who has been so good for so long. ESPN has a poll question of who is the most likely to do it after Randy, and to be honest no one is even close, and I really do not think we will see anyone do it in our life time. So congrats Randy enjoy the Hall of Fame.

K-Rod Breaks Save Record

Francisco Rodriguez broke the saves record last night when he recorded his 58th save of the year. This guy has been incredible this year, and he is going to get a huge contract going into next season. The question now is...does he deserve Cy Young consideration? I think so, but I don't think he will win it. Cliff Lee is having too good of a year for a closer to win the Cy Young. Saying that, people have to at least discuss him, because he just broke the saves record, and is most likely going to have over 60 saves for the season. Let me repeat that, 60 SAVES FOR 1 SEASON! That is incredible, and the Angels are the team to beat in the entire MLB.
