Ted "The Voice" Williams Enters Rehab

Well, that sure didn't take very long.

"Ted Williams, the homeless "golden voice" internet sensation, voluntarily checked into substance abuse rehab for his alcohol and drug dependency after admitting on a television show that he was still drinking, a spokeswoman for "The Dr. Phil Show" said Wednesday.

The decision to seek professional help came after "a lengthy one-on-one conversation with Dr. Phil," show spokeswoman Stacey Luchs said in a written statement, referring to show host Phil McGraw (CNN)."

The other day I wrote about how he was held by police for a short time because he had an argument with his daughter and people complained about the noise. Now he has admitted that he is still drinking. The good news now is that he has people like Dr. Phil taking notice. Even though Dr. Phil drives me nuts, he has the money and resources to help this guy. We all can hear the talent he has, but if he doesn't straighten himself out he will be right back on the street.

Well this didn't take long...

Ted Williams, the Ohio homeless man whose smooth radio voice made him an Internet sensation, had to do some quick talking to Los Angeles police. Officers were called when Williams and his daughter got into a heated argument Monday night at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel & Spa, Officer Catherine Massey said.

"I don't know how loud they were" but the argument at about 9 p.m. led to a disturbance report, Massey said Tuesday.

"It was minor. Both parties were angry but there were no signs of visible abuse," Massey said. "They were brought in, calmed down, talked to and released."

She said she did not know the nature of the argument. Williams and his daughter, whom Massey declined to name, were held at the Hollywood police station for less than an hour and they were not arrested, she said (FoxNews)."

There are a lot people (myself included) that are worried that this guy might fall apart with all this success coming so quickly. This is a guy who has had problems in the past, and has been living on the street for a long time. When suddenly introduced to a lot of money, obvious problems such as drugs/booze can arise.

Saying that, this story is really a non issue. People fight with their kids all the time, and he didn't hit her or anything, so it's all good. But everything this guy does for the next year or so will make news, so he needs to watch his step.

Ted Williams Gets Job

The Homeless man with the golden voice got a job with the Cleveland Cavaliers and good he should. When you have a voice like that he should have a voice in Radio.

“The Cleveland Cavaliers just offered me a full-time job and a house! A house! A house!,” repeated a stunned Williams, 71, 53, on local radio station WNCI. [video of the latest interviews below]

A caller to the show who said she represented the Cavs offered Williams a full-time job doing voiceover work for the team and parent company and a free home in Cleveland.

The Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, native trained to be a radio announcer before drugs and alcohol ruined his chances at a career, and he was reduced to begging on the side of a road in Columbus, Ohio, before the newspaper found him.

Local police would refer to Williams as “Radio man,” when chasing him from his usual begging spots, where he earned around $30 an hour, Williams said.

Pretty good deal for someone who was asking for change days before.
