Pat Knight Fired

To think he was only 852 wins away from tying his father (Bobby Knight) for the all time wins record in NCAA history. Knight is 50-60 in his first Division I coaching job and his third full year as head coach. He had only one winning season (19-16 in 2009-10) at Texas Tech.

It was day and knight on how much difference between he and his father had as an influence at Texas Tech. Before Pat took over Bobby had this program consistently in the tournament, Pat on the other hand didn't. It's a shame because I was rooting for him when he took over hoping he would be like his father and throwing chairs and constantly getting ejected but that didn't happen.

URI should get him, he'd be better then the shitbum they have now.

Tommy Tuberville To Texas Tech

Former Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville has been named the next football coach at Texas Tech, the school announced Saturday.

His deal is for five years and in the range of $2 million a year, a source told ESPN.com's Chris Low. ESPN

I thought Texas Tech was doomed up until this move. Tommy Tuberville is a bigger name than Mike Leach and formerly coached a far superior school and in a far superior conference previous to Tech. He had an 85-40 career record as a coach in Auburn, so he can coach. The offense is most likely going to change, but the recruits could wind up being better than what Leach was going to bring in. I expect a mediocre year next year, but fully expect Tech to be relevant after that.

Texas Tech Losing Top Recruit

"Texas Tech's top-rated recruit, four-star WR Kadron Boone of Ocala (Fla.) Trinity Catholic, the No. 96 prospect in the ESPNU 150, is expected to reopen his recruitment in the wake of Mike Leach's firing.

"I've been talking to schools just in case something like this happened because you never know what is going to happen," Boone told ESPN.com's Gerry Hamilton. "I've been staying in contact with LSU, Cincinnati, Louisville, Florida, Miami and West Virginia. All I can do is take this in, get home or talk to may parents tonight and get their reaction and go from there (ESPN)."

Well there you go Texas Tech, it has already begun. I believe Texas Tech made a huge mistake firing Leach. Just like Kansas I expect them to fall off the map, and it will all be because some snot nose kid made a big deal out of nothing....nice job.

Breaking News: Texas Tech Fires Mike Leach

"Texas Tech has fired football coach Mike Leach. The school handed a termination letter to Leach's attorney, Ted Liggett, on Wednesday just before the two sides were to appear in a Lubbock, Texas, courtroom for a hearing on the coach's suspension.

Liggett says the letter says Leach is "terminated with cause effective immediately." Leach was suspended by the university on Monday while the school investigated allegations that he mistreated an injured player. Receiver Adam James alleges Leach twice confined him to small, dark spaces during practice after the player was diagnosed with a concussion (CBSSports)."

Well Texas Tech can now joining Kansas in programs that have ruined themselves. Leach is the main reason Texas Tech was relevant and with him gone I think over the next couple of seasons you will see this once great offense go to pieces. Maybe what he does was wrong, but to be fired for it? Sorry, I'm not buying that for a second...

Mike Leach Suspended

Texas Tech suspended coach Mike Leach indefinitely after a player and his family filed a complaint about the player's treatment after an injury.
A source close to the family said James sustained a concussion on Dec. 16, was examined on Dec. 17 and told not to practice due to a concussion and an elevated heart rate. The source said Leach called a trainer and directed him to move James "to the darkest place, to clean out the equipment and to make sure that he could not sit or lean. He was confined for three hours."

A source told the Associated Press that James said Leach told him that if he came out he would be kicked off the team.

According to the source, Leach told the trainer, two days later, to "put [James] in the darkest, tightest spot. It was in an electrical closet, again, with a guard posted outside." ESPN

I'm sorry but has this world come to? Now football coaches can't be mean to their players? I thought this was America!!! What really pisses me off in cases of Mangino and now Leach is that someone actually told someone and made a fuss about what happened at practice. Practice is supposed to be a safe zone where everyone can say derogatory remarks to each other, get into a scuffle, and get treated like shit by coaches and it be O.K. But a few pussy kids are deciding to shit in the apple pie and get their coaches in trouble. I think Leach is a hell of a coach and if Texas Tech gets rid of him, he will be successful anywhere he goes. (Maybe Kentucky)

Mike Leach Suspends This Guy

Texas Tech offensive lineman Brandon Carter, the day after a frustrating last-minute loss at No. 17 Houston, has been suspended indefinitely by head coach Mike Leach, an athletic department spokesman said Sunday evening.

‘‘Brandon Carter has been suspended for a violation of team policy by coach Leach,” said Blayne Beal, Tech associate media relations director. ”His suspension is indefinite.’’more

I don't know much about Brandon Carter all I know is that he is terrifying. I basically just wanted to put a picture of him on DC so that is why this story is on here.

Graham Harrell Heads To CFL

"Graham Harrell is headed to the CFL. The record-setting Texas Tech quarterback signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Thursday. Harrell is the NCAA Division I career leader in touchdown passes but wasn't drafted by the NFL (Sportsline)."

DP and I were talking about this last night, and this is just fucking nuts. How can a guy who broke all kinds of record end up not even getting a shot at the NFL. I know he played in a pass heavy offense, but he has to have some skill to do what he did. I mean Brian St. Pierre made it to the NFL, and he is the worst QB I have ever seen in person. He awful, but still had some time in the NFL. Do I think Harrell would have been a starter in the NFL??? Probably not, but you can't tell me that he would be a bad backup for a team like the Patriots, Packers, and other pass heavy offense...

Anyways, I wish him the best. He deserved better...

Crabtree Breaks Foot

"Former Texas Tech receiver Michael Crabtree, a top-five prospect for April's NFL draft, will miss eight to 10 weeks of training with a stress fracture in his left foot, sources confirmed Saturday to ESPN Scouts Inc.'s Todd McShay (ESPN)."

A lot of people think Crabtree is the best player in this years draft. I am not as sold, but now you have to wonder if his stock will be hurt a little with this injury. Teams are not going to be able to see him in the combines, but I still think he will be a top 7 pick in the draft, but there are a couple linemen that may be moving up a lot of teams draft boards with this injury. Hopefully he will be able to prove he is on the right track to getting healthy before the draft in April.

Crabtree to Enter Draft

"Texas Tech wide receiver Michael Crabtree is expected to announce at a 3 p.m. ET news conference on Tuesday that he will enter the NFL draft, two people close to Crabtree said Friday (ESPN)."

Smart move by this kid to make the jump to the NFL. His stock will never be higher than it is right now, and I think he will be a top 15 pick easily. I am not as high as everyone else on this kid, though I do believe he is going to be a very solid WR. Crabtree had 93 catches and 18 touchdowns in the regular season, averaging 94.6 yards per game. He won the prestigious Biletnikoff Award for the nation's top receiver.

College Football Recap

27 (1) Alabama, 21 (16) LSU

This was an awesome game and definitely lived up to it's high expectations. After a rough start from Alabama, they were able to grind it out and win. Glen Coffee and John Parker Wilson were the catalysts to this victory in "Death Valley" John Parker Wilson threw for only 215 yards, but he had some big throws in crucial parts of the game. Glen Coffee ran for 126 yards and the game winning TD. As for LSU Jarrett Lee now has 13 picks on the year with 6 being returned for TDs. He is by far the worst QB in the country and it is time Les Miles goes to the backup Jefferson.

23 (3) Penn State, 24 Iowa

Sucks for Penn State. They had the easiest schedule on their way to the national championship, however they were caught in the vaunted "trap game" to Iowa. Darrell Clark had a terrible game going 9/23 with 1 pick. Iowa kept the game close for a majority of the game and were able to get in field goal position at the end and Daniel Murray was able to hit a 31 yarder to win the game.

20 (9) Oklahoma State, 56 (2) Texas Tech

Graham Harrell again put up video game numbers as he threw for 456 yards on 40/50 attempts with 6 TDs. 3 of those 6 TDs went to outstanding WR Michael Crabtree. I didn't respect Texas Tech that much until this game. They are a scary team and can get games out of control fast and actually play a little defense.

The Rest Of The Games

2 Texas Tech vs 9 Oklahoma State

I know this will be an emotional week for Texas Tech, but they will not stumble verse OK State. Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree cannot and will not be stopped today. I expect Tech to start fast making OK State have to play catch up and throw the ball and Zac Robinson is just not equipped for that.

Tech 35-21

(7)USC vs (21)Cal

This seems like the first big game USC has played since Ohio State, but this game should be a walk in the park for the Trojans. Sanchez and the rest of the fun bunch is too much for Cal to keep up with it. USC's defense incredibly talented and quick and will dominate this game.

And my unranked game is Kansas over Nebraska

Just because I wanted to use that picture, and I hate Nebraska

College Football Picks

(1) Texas vs (6) Oklahoma State

Last week I went against Texas and they screwed me. So this week I am going to pick them to beat the surprising Oklahoma State Cowboys. Colt McCoy is the best quarterback in the country and his stats are video game like. RB Chris Ogbonnaya not only has an awesome name but will be able to run over this Oklahoma State defense all day. I like Zac Robinson, but sorry you just aren't going to win this game but they keep it somewhat close.

Texas 35-28

(3)Penn State vs (9) Ohio State

Penn State all the way. Penn State has a better offense and a better defense. The big story will be the two QBs, PSU Darrell Clark and OSU Terrelle Pryor. Clark has been the biggest surprise in college football and has been able to run an unbelievable offense. Pryor on the other hand has been able to bring Ohio State back and ranked in the top ten, but he will not be enough to take this game.

Penn State 42-28

(7)Georgia vs (12) LSU

LSU needs to win this game and they know it. After getting embarrassed by Florida they need to win out and that starts with Georgia. It is at Tiger stadium and that will mean all the fans will be in their corner. Jarrett Lee has had an up and down season and will have to straighten out to beat a tough Georgia defense. I am not worried about LSU's defense stopping Knowshon Moreno even though he is averaging over 100 yards a game. Georgia's offensive line is their biggest weakness and look for LSU to take advantage of that.
LSU 21 to 10

(7)Texas Tech vs (23) Kansas

Tech easily. I hate Kansas and I don't think they should do well in football and for that reason alone I am picking Tech big.

Tech 42 to 7
