USC Stripped of 04 Title

The BCS stripped USC of its 2004 national title Monday.

The decision was not unexpected but required the NCAA's May 26 rejection of USC's appeal of sanctions stemming from the Reggie Bush investigation to move forward.
ESPN

This is one of the stupidest thing I have ever heard, I hate that the BCS just strips schools of Titles, awards, etc and we all have to pretend it didn't happen. Yes, they may have been playing with an impact player that may have been cheating, but you know what? It already happened.

If I were the BCS or NCAA I would leave whatever the school won up there, and then just paralyze the shit out of their future. Take away scholarships, post season bids and even their TV time in order to make sure to never violate the rules again.

And stripping a title away 7 years later does nothing really, I will always remember that USC won a championship and I will always remember that Reggie Bush won the Heisman. So... fuck off.

With the 22nd Pick In The NFL Draft The Indianapolis Colts Select....

DP's Pick:
Nate Solder, OT, Colorado

I'm not going to sit here and act like I thought of this pick. Todd McShay has this pick and it makes the most sense. If the Colts want to keep succeeding you want to protect the person that gives them the best chance... Peyton Manning. He's 6-8, 319 and with the Colts O-Line getting a little older it never hurts to get younger on the blind side.

BMack's Pick:
Tyron Smith, OT, USC

Smith should never have fallen this far, but if he does what a steal for the Colts. He is a guy who can step up immediatley, and the Colts really need to revamp their offensive line. DP is 100% right, if the Colts are going to do anything for years to come they need to keep the pressure off Manning. Smith is a little raw, but has the highest ceiling of maybe any offensive lineman in the draft.

With The 13th Pick In The NFL Draft The Detroit Lions Select....

DP's Pick:
Tyron Smith, OT, USC

The Lions would have loved if Prince or Peterson fell to them, however they have to settle for the big offensive tackle Tyron Smith. He can play on either side of the ball and has better upside than any other prospect in this draft. I'm not going to sit here lie to you like I know anything about blocking, so I guess he gets in the way of defenders better than the other people. Plus he has a pretty sweet name.

BMack's Pick:
Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska

Prince is still on my board, so this becomes an obvious pick for the Lions. Chris Houston is coming along nicely for the Lions, and if Prince can lineup across from him that would give them a nice young defensive backfield to build around. With Suh already up front, and an offense that is coming together (if they can Matthew Stafford healthy), it seems like we say this every year, but this is a team that could start challenging for a playoff spot soon. Amukamara had 5 picks in 2010 at Nebraska, and you have to be impressed with his tackling skills racking up 155 tackles last year. I always like CBs with size, and this kid has decent size at 6-0 and over 200 pounds.

Kiffin's Douchebaggery Knows No End

Kiffin is once again in trouble, this time it is for luring assistant coach Kennedy Pola away from the Titans without giving any kind of notice. The Titans are now suing Kiffin and USC. How much more is this guy going to get away with, and how pissed is USC right now?

Kiffin just has no respect for anyone, and it is going to catch up to him. Even though he was just hired he has to be on a short lease. It is amazing that he would do this to an USC alum (Fisher), and once again screw with the state of Tennessee. I mean hasn't he done enough to that poor state?

Whatever, fuck Kiffin. He's just an asshole, and USC is going to suck for a long time. Kiffin will be fired in the next 1-2 years, and he will have a hard time finding another job, because everyone is aware that he is nothing but problems wherever he goes.

USC Does Housecleaning

Southern California is cleaning house in its tarnished athletic department, throwing out much of what got the school in severe NCAA trouble.

Athletic director Mike Garrett and Reggie Bush's Heisman Trophy are the first two items to go.

In a letter to school supporters Tuesday, incoming USC president Max Nikias said Garrett will be replaced Aug. 3 by Pat Haden, the former Trojans quarterback who became a successful businessman and a member of USC's board of trustees. The school also will return its copy of Bush's trophy to the Heisman Trust, among several measures to disassociate itself from the tainted tailback. ESPN

I think this is BS, but I can see it from a schools side, because school is about academics and not about football. But c'mon, Reggie Bush, Pete Carroll and the rest of that USC squad did a whole lot for the school as a whole. I think thy should let Reggie keep his trophy and let his record and the school records stay also. Fuck the NCAA..

USC Is In Trouble

USC has received a 2 year postseason ban and a possible 20 forfeited scholarships for previous allegations surrounding Reggie Bush, that could possibly make him give up his Heisman Trophy. Now we can all start calling Pete Carroll a scumbag because he most likely saw this coming and jetted to the NFL.

This puts current coach Lane Kiffen in an awkward spot, because the spotlight was on him for bouncing on Tennessee to USC and now he can't do anything with it. I guess the 2 years will be more than enough time to rebuild USC.

Just Another Fucking Moron: The Anthony McCoy Story

Well, we have another guy going for the title of "stupidest asshole in the world". USC tight end Anthony McCoy tested positive for marijuana at the scouting combine. How fucking stupid can one person be? He knew when the combine was. He knew they would test, and yet still he decided to smoke weed before it. Why even risk it? It's totally not worth it, and now instead of being a 2nd round pick he will most likely be a 3rd or 4th rounder (maybe even lower), and probably cost himself a shit load of cash too.

If you are that big of a shithead I wouldn't want you on my team, because most likely you are fucking stupid enough to do it again.

USC Gets Commitment From 13-year-old QB

USC has received a verbal commitment for the Class of 2015, the problem? He is fucking 13 year old!!! Quarterback David Sills has been highly touted since beginning training with renowned QB coach Steve Clarkson in California. Sills currently is a seventh-grader at Red Lion Christian Academy in Bear, Del. My reaction to this...

I got a huge problem with this. It goes back to what I was saying with the whole getting arrested for doodling thing. The pressure on kids is crazy. It is not right to have high school games on TV. It's not right to have a huge press conference with a kid choosing what hat he will be wearing for the next 4 years, and it's definitely not right to recruit a kid when he is fucking 13 years old. Shame on USC for even accepting this, and shame on this kids parents for letting this get out of control. Kid probably hasn't even touched a boob yet, and he is picking what college he is going to attend. What a fucking joke.

Saying that the kids going to be nasty...

Lane Kiffin Already In Trouble At USC?

Well this didn't take long. Apparently there are reports surfacing that as the a high school AD for incoming recruit CB Nickell Robey said...

"[Robey's] planning to visit Southern Cal next week. Monte Kiffin has been very persistent. He's probably been in here more than is legal. Of course they don't pay attention to the rules (ESPN)."

Ok, this could be nothing, but Kiffin has had a history of not giving a fuck when it comes to the rules of recruiting. The NCAA is already all over USC, and this is not going to help anything. My prediction is that Kiffin is at USC for 3 years, fired, and then is never heard from again.

And with that I have to put this video up again...

Hilarious.

Kiffin Loves To Shit In The Apple Pie

So, now we are all reading about how Kiffin crashed a car while in Tenn, and there was no police reported filed. A tad fishy, but honestly at this point is anyone shocked? This is the same guy who started a shit storm with the Raiders (Don't blame him in the least for), then went to the SEC called out Florida and a bunch of other teams, had a decent year, and then jumped ship to USC.

Do I like his boldness? Sure, but this is all going to come back and bite him in the ass. USC is going to lose some scholarships, since they have been playing players for years. Once that happens and USC starts to falter their fans are going to blame the new coach...Kiffin. He'll be fired, and then what happens?

Well he has to be black listed at this point. I mean would you hire him? He has shown he will jump ship for any job that seems better. He has not once backed up his words, so what the fuck has he actually done? Anyways, I am ranting, when we should actually just all sit back and enjoy this amazing video...

Runaway Lane....never coming back. He really did't have a chance against Saban and Meyer.

Lane Kiffin Has Balls

Tennessee's Lane Kiffin has been named the next head coach at Southern California, athletic director Mike Garrett announced on Tuesday.

Kiffin would replace Pete Carroll, who jumped to the NFL as coach of the Seattle Seahawks.

Kiffin will bring his father and defensive coordinator, Monte Kiffin, and assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron to Southern Cal with him, and wide receivers coach Kippy Brown will be named interim head coach at Tennessee. ESPN

Does a guy have bigger balls than Lane Kiffin? He's the man, he tortured Al Davis while coaching the Raiders, he then went to Tennessee and created havoc for the SEC and pissed off Florida, than dicked over Tennessee and the SEC to coach USC. I love him, and his bold moves. Many people will see this as him being a dick, but who would turn down a job at USC. He already worked their from 01-06, and it is a much better job than in Knoxville. USC was supposed to have a bad year, but with this move, I doubt they will skip a beat. Lane can coach and he can recruit, and that's all USC needs. I'm sure he's not the most moral man either, so I wouldn't put "30 grand in a duffel bag" past him.

However, if he fails, this will most likely be the last coaching gig he will have.
One state feels he will fail:

Pete Carroll Going To Seattle

Pete Carroll has reached an agreement in principle with the Seahawks on a deal to be their next head coach, multiple NFL sources confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter early Saturday morning.

A Seahawks spokesman confirmed Saturday night that team CEO Tod Leiweke will fly to Los Angeles on Sunday to interview Carroll for the coaching position and that the talks could last into Monday morning. ESPN

I take two things from this, the first is that Pete Carroll has decided to make the jump back to the pro's because he feels it's time and he has already accomplished so much at USC, and the second is that USC's football program is about to go down hard. I personally am leaning towards the second one. USC just recently threw O.J. Mayo and the basketball team under the bus and controversial RB Joe McKnight has decided to go pro, when he really should have stayed another year. I think Carroll has started to feel the heat of the NCAA, and like Calipari, decided to leave before the shit hit the fan:

It will be interesting to see how Pete Carroll does for Seattle, and what happens to USC from this point forward.

USC 24, BC 13

A lot of people gave BC a chance in this game. And that chance would be if USC decided not to show up and give 100%, BC would win. In fact, I'd say that most people out there felt like USC at 80% would be quite sufficient to bury the Eagles.

Well, USC did show up. And Boston College still lost. But it was hardly the shellacking that was anticipated by some people (including myself) out there.

In fact, in many ways, BC cost themselves the game. Shinskie's interception, Montel Harris fumbling the ball on the USC 6 yard line. And of course the missed extra-point. BC struggled with the wet conditions much more than USC. And in the 1st quarter, BC was clearly nervous and jumpy, especially Shinskie.

The Mountain West officiating crew also did their part. These guys were probably expecting a match-up like BC/Arizona, not BC/USC. They weren't blatantly biased, except when it came to instant replay. What was clearly an incomplete pass (receiver out of bounds) was ruled a completion, then upheld. Instead of 2nd & 10 on the BC 44, the Trojans were given 1st & goal on the BC 6. They then scored a touchdown.

In the 3rd, with USC up only 17-13, BC punted. The ball bounced off a Trojan, who was engaged with BC's Luke Kuechly. Kuechly then pounced on the ball. The officials reviewed the play, then decided that the USC player had been blocked into the ball. Even though the USC player was blocking Keuchly forward, and literally stepped into the bounce of the ball. BC would have had possession on USC's 30 yard line.

Officiating aside, BC lost this game on their own. I like David Shinskie, but he's not the long-term solution at QB. He's steady. And against the likes of Maryland and NC State, he's more than adequate. But BC has a desire to move beyond the middle of the ACC. BC wants to do more than get to Emerald Bowls. David Shinskie simply isn't the QB to get them there. At least not now.

BC usually gets good QBs (Matt Ryan, Brian St. Pierre, the Hasselbecks), so I'm sure a solution at the position will eventually be found.

But I can't wait for BC's 2010 campaign. The QB situation will at least no longer be a massive question mark as it was in the summer of '09. Montel Harris (1,457 yards, 14 TDs) will be back for his junior season. Luke Kuechly (142 tackles, 81 solo tackles, 2nd in country in both categories) will be back for his sophomore season. And All-American Mark Herzlich will also return.

Did anyone else think how ridiculous USC's post-game exuberance was? I mean, they won a 3rd-tier bowl game in their home state against a team that has academic standards. Good job! Maybe next year you'll be able to beat Washington!

USC Getting In A Little Bit Of Trouble

Starting running back and leading rusher Joe McKnight did not travel with the Trojans to the Bay Area for Saturday's Emerald Bowl against Boston College, while tight end Anthony McCoy, offensive tackle Tyron Smith and defensive tackle Averell Spicer have been ruled academically ineligible, the school announced. ESPN

I still think that USC is going to win this Bowl game, but losing McKnight is definitely going to hurt. McKnight is in some trouble when it comes to a loaner truck that was lent to his girlfriend, and could be suspended by the NCAA soon. Say what you want about Pete Carroll, but guys like him and Coach Calipari coach college like you should, corrupt and through a dirty program. I personally think athletes should get more benefits than they do, so I have no problem with any coaches that get in trouble with their athletes.

Boston College vs. USC in Emerald Bowl

Normally, an Emerald Bowl berth is yet another ho hum Boston College post-season appearance. But when it's up against USC, that's no longer the case. Thanks to USC's 4 losses, the Emerald Bowl was able to snag USC. The Trojans had been in the BCS for 7 straight years.

It's a bit of a rematch, and a bit of a preview. BC's basketball team was eliminated by USC in the Tournament last March. And these two football teams will meet in 2013 (in California) and 2014 (in Boston).

This is great news for Boston College, who achieved an unexpected 8-4 record. Even without a win, this game will bring a lot of attention locally and nationally. Attention=recruits. Recruits=winning. Winning=more attention. More attention=more recruits.

The game will be December 26th at AT&T Park (where the Giants play) in San Francisco.

I Hate Pete Carrol But...

What he did at the end of the USC/UCLA game was nice. Before this play, USC took a knee, but UCLA then called a timeout. In response, this happened:

Pete Carrol was trying to end the game, but UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel didn't want it to end. Personally, I would've simply passed for a 1st down, or maybe ran the ball (UCLA had 2 timeouts remaining). But Neuheisel invited the touchdown pass.

But Pete Carrol's sideline celebration looks like a 12 year old girl at a Jonas Brother concert.

DC College Football Picks

We have a couple of good College football games this weekend, so here our are picks.
(3) USC vs (8) Ohio State

Ohio State again is going to choke again as true freshman Matt Barkley and Joe McKnight will be too much for Ohio State who could barely hang with Navy. Terrell Pryor is good, but still makes some dumb mistakes, and those dumb mistakes are going to kill any chance of Ohio State to win.

USC 35-21

(18) Notre Dame vs Michigan

Both teams have had an extremely impressive opening weeks. Notre Dame dismantled my Nevada Wolfpack, while Michigan beat some team bad. This game is going to push Michigan back on the map with this upset. Tate Forcier should get the bulk of the work under center again and is a shifty open-field runner who can pick up yards with his feet when nothing is available downfield, but he is more of a passer than a scrambler. He has a strong arm, keeps his eyes downfield and throws well on the run. And I like him over Jimmy Clausen, Golden Tate and Michael Floyd. Call me crazy but this is what is going to happen.

Michigan: 21-17

1 and 1 on the season

USC Starting True Freshman QB Matt Barkley

"Matt Barkley felt honored and thrilled when he learned he'll be No. 4 Southern California's starting quarterback in his first college game. What this precocious freshman didn't feel was surprise. From the moment the nation's most coveted high school player chose the Trojans last year, he envisioned his first season on campus working out exactly this way. "I don't feel intimidated at all," Barkley said Thursday night after another practice with the first-team offense. "There's been some great quarterbacks here, we all know that, and I'm just excited to be a part of it. ... I've been preparing this whole time like I'm the starter. That's what I came in here in January hoping to do (Sportsline)."

From everything I have read this kid is going to be a stud, but I still question this move my Carrol. USC is supposed to be in the running for a National Championship, and at head of the team will be a true Freshman? It is ballsy, but I have to admit I kind of like it. When Carrol picks a QB he usually sticks with him until he goes pro or graduates, so USC seems to have a QB for the next 3-4 years. Should be fun to watch if this gamble pays off...

Sanchez Impressive At Pro Day

"With another truckload of NFL-ready talent on hand, Southern California's Pro Day lived up to expectations Wednesday, and the workout will have an impact on how the first round shakes out April 25. Quarterback Mark Sanchez stole the show with a stunning throwing session (Sportsline)."

Every report I have read has said that they were blown away by the way Sanchez was throwing the ball. We all know that he will be the 2nd QB taken in the NFL Draft, but I wonder how high he can climb. Some mock drafts have Sanchez going #8 to Jacksonville and others have him going #10 to the 49ers. I think after today you will see Jacksonville taking a shot at him. Yet I still have my concerns...

USC has had a lot of big name QBs come out, and they really haven't done all that much (though they still have time). Matt Leinart is stuck behind Warner, but really hasn't done anything to force the issue. Palmer had a good couple of years, but hasn't been able to stay healthy, and his numbers seem to be on the decline every year. It is really funny that the guy who was backing up those two looks to have the most promising career (Matt Cassel).

My other concern is his health. He was beat up a lot at USC, and we all know he can take a hit, but how much can one guy take. If Jacksonville can't fix that terrible offensive line they might get this guy killed.

In the end he is a solid pick, and I actually like him a lot more then I like Matthew Stafford. Only time will tell, but I think Jacksonville should take a shot at him at #8.

Mark Sanchez Going Pro

This is a great move. Especially now that Bradford is not in the draft, this now turns into a two horse race between Sanchez and Stafford. I believe that Stafford will be the first QB picked, but Sanchez will be a great pro qb as well. Sanchez played great in his one year of starting for USC, but I don't see his inexperience hurting him. I don't see the Lions picking any of these guys anymore, but I do see see one of these signal callers in a Jets uniform.
