Bruce Pearl Canned

Tennessee Fired coach Bruce Pearl after a series of allegations for recruiting violations. After publicly backing him this summer after his first violation, i guess more shit hit the fan and their hands were tied. In six seasons, Pearl, led the Volunteers to their first No. 1 ranking in 2008 and first NCAA tournament regional finals appearance, missing out on a trip to the 2010 Final Four by a single point and a record was 145 and 61 at Knoxville.

You know where he needs to go? URI. Fuck this Jim Baron guy and his stupid son coming here from Virginia lets get a guy who isn't just "mediocre" and a guy who will get the job done. Even with all the nonsense that Pearl put Tennessee through, they STILL supported him, they STILL rallied for him, and the STILL were behind him, that's a coach I want. At URI we are stuck with a weatherman posing to be a coach and nothing would make me happier then see him get run out of town by a lynch mob.

I know there is no way in hell Pearl comes but a boy can dream.

Kiffin Loves To Shit In The Apple Pie

So, now we are all reading about how Kiffin crashed a car while in Tenn, and there was no police reported filed. A tad fishy, but honestly at this point is anyone shocked? This is the same guy who started a shit storm with the Raiders (Don't blame him in the least for), then went to the SEC called out Florida and a bunch of other teams, had a decent year, and then jumped ship to USC.

Do I like his boldness? Sure, but this is all going to come back and bite him in the ass. USC is going to lose some scholarships, since they have been playing players for years. Once that happens and USC starts to falter their fans are going to blame the new coach...Kiffin. He'll be fired, and then what happens?

Well he has to be black listed at this point. I mean would you hire him? He has shown he will jump ship for any job that seems better. He has not once backed up his words, so what the fuck has he actually done? Anyways, I am ranting, when we should actually just all sit back and enjoy this amazing video...

Runaway Lane....never coming back. He really did't have a chance against Saban and Meyer.

Lane Kiffin Still Impresses Me

Tennessee football coach Lane Kiffin said he takes investigations of the school's recruiting practices as a compliment.

Kiffin said the strength of Tennessee's recruiting class, ranked by most analysts near the top nationally, has caused the unusual amount of interest in the Volunteers' methods, which are under investigation by the NCAA and the Southeastern Conference.

Meanwhile, Sports Illustrated posted a photo on its Web site Friday that shows two University of Tennessee hostesses with football recruits at a South Carolina game.

The Knoxville News Sentinel reported that the women in the photo are Lacey Earps and Dahra Johnson. Both are members of Orange Pride, a group mostly comprised of female students which is responsible for entertaining recruits on campus visits, among other duties. ESPN

God I love Kiffin. If the NCAA should know anything, the one way they get recruits is by getting them laid. A URI player once told me that how they got a couple of good players, is by getting them laid. SO if that happens at URI, imagine the hotties in Knoxville. I also like how Kiffin turned this around and called it a compliment, while many coaches would be sweating this Kiffin just doesn't care. Good for him, good for the Vols. I mean he is going to go down hard one day for something, but I'm sure he won't care then either.

3 Vols Players Charged With Attempted Armed Robbery

"Three freshmen Tennessee football players, including highly touted wide receiver recruit Nu'Keese Richardson and starting safety Janzen Jackson, were charged with attempted armed robbery Thursday morning. Richardson, 18, and Jackson, 18, along with defensive back Mike Edwards, 18, and companion Marie Montmarquet, 22, were charged after a report of an armed robbery at a gas station in an area known as "The Strip" at the edge of Tennessee's campus (Sportsline)."

What a bunch of fucking idiots. You have a free ride through college and you throw it all away to steals some money from a fucking gas station? Sorry, that's retarded. This is really going to hurt this rebuilding program, and it is too bad because I like Kiffin a lot, but this is something that could set back his plans for the Tenn program.

Austin Rogers Tears ACL

The offseason hasn't been a good one for Tennessee on the injury front.

Fifth-year senior receiver Austin Rogers suffered a serious knee injury Friday during voluntary workouts and the initial diagnosis was a torn anterior cruciate ligament, which would cause him to miss the 2009 season.

Freshman running back Toney Williams, an early enrollee who was coming off a promising spring, already underwent ACL surgery last week after injuring his right knee earlier this summer during workouts

Lane Kiffin must be pissed. All of his potential play makers are getting injured. Lane Kiffin has already a rocky start for the volunteers, like calling out Florida, and having numerous recruitment violations. But all in all, it sucks to see a white wide receiver go down.

Lane Kiffin Is A Guy Who I Want To Coach My School

"The University of Tennessee has signed a football player who was involved in the rape and kidnapping of a 14-year-old female relative six years ago.

Daniel Hood, a 6-foot-5, 240-pound defensive end from Knoxville Catholic High, was only 13 when the incident occurred, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel. A 17-year-old accomplice was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Hood was tried as a juvenile and found to be delinquent by a jury “on the basis that he had committed the adult offenses of kidnapping and aggravated rape,” according to court records. Hood was placed in state custody until he was 17." AJC

See Kiffin gets it. You aren't going to win with nice people. This kid may have kidnapped and raped someone at one time, but that will all be turned into cheers ass he is raping other QBs in the SEC. Either way, I love Lane Kiffin and I hope he keeps it up.

Lady Vols Bounced in the First Round

Now I know a lot of you probably don't follow Womens College Basketball very closely, and honestly neither do I, but this early Tennessee first round tournament loss is pretty huge if you ask me. The loss is historical in a sense that the Vols have made 28 consectutive NCAA tournament appearances; coming away with NCAA championships the last 2 seasons. The Lady Vols have never lost in the first round, and also have never NOT made it to the Sweet 16 in the history of the Woman's Tournament. They were 51-0 agaist teams seeded lower than 4, and it's the first time in NCAA Tournament history that the defending champion was bounced in the First Round the following year.

Ball State, a 12 seed, and a first timer in the Big Dance put a drumming on The Lady Vols beating them by the score of 71-55. They were more aggressive, and were able to make the big play when it counted. The Vols seemed lacksadaisical in the second half, and the 5 seed couldn't manage to rack up a come back late in the game.

Pat Summit seemed a bit devastated by the loss. The team is still very young, and looks poised to make a run not only next season, but seasons to come. If I were Pat Summit I wouldn't quite reach for the panic button, but the loss does raise some eyebrows and proves that other teams are no longer afraid to face the Lady Vols no matter what the stipulations surrounding the game are.

The Savior Of Tennessee Football?

Bryce Brown, the No. 8 prospect in the ESPNU150, will play his college football at Tennessee. Brown picked the Vols over a list of finalists that included Oregon, LSU, Kansas State and Miami.

Now that Tennessee has revamped their coaching staff coach Lane Kiffin finally got his break through player. Bryce Brown is going to be the next great Tennessee runningback and put Tennessee back on the map in the SEC. It must be refreshing for Kiffin to be on the other side of the news and actually doing something productive for the Vols rather than some BS controversy.

Lane Kiffin Is Making Me Laugh

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee notified the NCAA it found a Southeastern Conference coach committing recruiting violations — the Volunteers’ own Lane Kiffin.
Kiffin was reprimanded by SEC commissioner Mike Slive on Thursday for falsely accusing Florida’s Urban Meyer of a recruiting violation.
Another violation occurred when a fog machine was used as a recruit entered the field at Neyland Stadium during his official visit on Jan. 9.

Under NCAA recruiting rules, schools are prohibited from simulating a game experience for recruits during official visits.

This has to be the best reasoning to get a violation from the NCAA. Who would have thought those tricky fog machines are bad for the NCAA. Urban Meyer must be in stitches laughing.

Updating Stories From Yesterday

Barry Bonds:

Bonds might have fallen into some luck as the Judge that is controling his case may not allow the positive steroid tests into the trial. I don't like it, but I understand it, since any good lawyer would be able to say that they may have been tampered with during their stay before/after the raid. The judge did go on to say that she will allow the recorded conversation between Anderson and Hoskins.

Kiffin:

DP and I loved the tirade Kiffin went on saying that Meyer tried to cheat to steal one of their recruits and still lost. Apparently the SEC did not find it as funny as we did, as Commissioner Mike Slive came out and reprimanded Kiffin saying...

"Coach Kiffin has violated the Southeastern Conference Code of Ethics," Slive said. "SEC Bylaw 10.5.1 clearly states that coaches and administrators shall refrain from directed public criticism of other member institutions, their staffs or players. The phone call to which Coach Kiffin referred to in his public comments is not a violation of SEC or NCAA rules. We expect our coaches to have an understanding and knowledge of conference and NCAA rules (Sportsline)."

At that point Kiffin backed down. Nothing will really come with this, but there will be some awesome storylines in the SEC this year.

Pat Summitt Wins 1000

Like almost every male in America, I only respect a couple of women. My Mom, my Grandma, my girlfriend and now I have to admit that Pat Summitt makes the cut. It could be that she single handedly brought women's basketball to light, or that she coached my future wife (Candace) or that she is just a hell of a coach.

The legendary Tennessee Lady Vols coach hit a milestone never reached in NCAA basketball history, after her team pummeled Georgia 73-43 at Thompson-Boling Arena. Summitt reached the never-scaled peak of 1,000 career victories, adding to an already monumental list of remarkable accomplishments. When I think of legendary college basketball coaches I think of Dean Smith, Bobby Knight, Roy Williams, John Wooden and you almost have to include Pat Summitt in that category. (I left Coach k out because he is a douche bag) So congrats Pat, and do you think you can tell Candace to drop that restraining order?

Let The Trash Talk Begin

"Just so you know, when a recruit's on another campus, you can't call a recruit on another campus," Kiffin said Thursday morning at the Knoxville Convention Center. "I love the fact that Urban had to cheat, and still didn't get him (Richardson). Great job man!"

Of course Lane is referring to Nu'Keese Richardson a Florida signee turned Vol. I love Lane Kiffin and he will bring Tennessee back to a prestigious program before Fulmer fucked everything up the past couple of seasons. Kiffin became awesome when he made Al Davis's life a living hell, and now that he is already taking shots at those panty wearing Florida Gators and their lame ass coach, only makes him higher in my book.

Lane Kiffin To Coach Vols

Tennessee has reached an agreement with former Oakland Raiders coach Lane Kiffin to take over as the Volunteers' next coach, with an announcement planned for Monday, barring any snags, according to multiple sources.

I like this move. I believe got a terrible deal in Oakland and he will thrive in Tennessee. Now that the Phillip Fulmer era is over Kiffin can focus on getting Tennessee back to the prestigious program it once was. Kiffin already has plenty of college experience when he was a coordinator at USC. I expect nothing less then a top 15 ranking next year.

Phillip Fulmer Out After This Year

ESPN is reporting, "Phillip Fulmer, who a decade ago brought Tennessee its first national championship in 47 years, will not return as the Volunteers' coach next year"

Not only should Fulmer be canned but his whole coaching staff should get the boot. Tennessee has been a huge disappointment for a while and is leading the Vols to a 3-6 record. His recruiting hasn't died down, his players just aren't playing for him. Since Tennessee is such a good school expect them to get a top tier coach.

Talk Like A Pterodactyl

The Tennessee starting tailback… was requested for media interviews. He had a demand: whoever interviewed him had to speak Pterodactyl, some made-up dinosaur language. No interview was conducted.

It was kind of funny and it fit Foster’s quirky personality. But… 10 yards away, Coach Phillip Fulmer was addressing reporters about his quarterback crisis… It was a national story about an offense looking for leadership. It could determine the fate of Tennessee’s season and Fulmer’s legacy.

“Veeeeek! Veeeeek! Veeeeek!” Foster shrieked.

Man, this is the coolest thing since Ricky Williams did a post game with his helmet on. I wish that every athlete was as cool as Arian. I personally would want people to interview me in Guinea Pig.

College Football Picks

O.K. Well if you have been following my College Football picks recently I have nothing to brag about. I am now 6-5 on the season, but I am feeling it this week.

The first game I have t start out with is (6) LSU vs (10) Auburn

I like LSU for a couple of reasons. 1. I don't respect any team that beats another 3-2. 2. Auburn has no passing attack. 3. LSU needs to win this game if they want to be in the National Championship.

So far Auburn's offense has been somewhat of a joke and LSU has been using the duel QB system ever since Bob's boy decided to be a shithead. Andrew Hatch and Jarrett Lee have both thrown for over 200 yards this season and Charles Scott might be too much for Auburn to take. Scott is a bruiser at 5-11 and 220 pounds and has averaged 11 yards per carry and also leads a very strong LSU rushing attack.

41 LSU, 14 Auburn

The Second game I will bee choosing is Tennessee hosting (4) Florida

Although this game will seem pretty obvious that Florida will win, it is still an SEC game and still at Knoxville. What I don't like about Florida is their rushing attack, because they have none. Tebow is leading the team in rushing with 92 yards so far this season and doesn't seem to be producing as much as last year. Actually, Fuck it. I can't bring myself to picking Florida and I am going with the Volunteers.

I like Jonathan Crompton better as a passing QB, and I like Arian Foster as a runningback. Together those two along with WR Lucas Taylor should be able to upset the number 4 Gators. I don't care if Tennessee has never beaten a Urban Meyer run football team.

21 Tenn, 14 Florida

(24) Florida State vs (18) Wake Forest

This may be Bobby Bowden's last season as a coach especially if he has another sub-par season and I think his players know it. So far this season Florida State has beaten two terrible teams and this will be their first true test. This year Florida State's defense is something to write home about and are currently ranked number 1 in the country. They also have received excellent Quarterback play from two guys not named E.J. Manuel, Christian Ponder and D'Vontrey Richardson. Ponder became the first Seminole since Charlie Ward in 1992 to throw for six touchdown passes in his first two career starts. Richardson has thrown for two scores and rushed for three others, including a 55-yard touchdown run against Chattanooga that broke a quarterback school record he tied the previous week.

I don't even need to write about Wake. They are going to lose, end of discussion.

28 Florida State, 10 Wake Forest

Also,
(5) Missouri vs Buffalo

Obviously going to be a BLOWOUT. Get it. Anyways I say Missouri scores no less than 65 points.

College Football Tonight

Rutgers vs Fresno State

Rutgers is my pick today. Although I love Fresno State quarterback Tom Brandstater and believe he will be a 1rst round pick this year, I think Rutgers is a better team led by quarterback Mike Teel and runningback Kordell Young. I think this Rutgers team will be better than last years team even without Ray Rice.

Rutgers 35, Fresno 21

(18) Tennessee Vs UCLA

As much as I want to say UCLA will pull this one off, it will not happen. Jonathan Crompton is the new quarterback for Tennessee, but their real playmakers are runningback Adrian Foster and wide reciever Lucas Taylor. The consistency of Tennessee will destroy UCLA. Meanwhile, UCLA is rebuilding.

Tennessee 45, UCLA 10
