Good News For Red Sox?

Buster Olney made an interesting comment this morning about the relationship between the Angels and Scott Boras...

"They want Crawford, of course, and Beltre would be an excellent fit for Mike Scioscia's team, but remember, the Angels haven't gotten into a whole lot of give-and-take negotiations in recent years -- and Boras is the ultimate give-and-take agent. In recent years, there seems to have been a split between the Angels and Boras. We'll see if that's a factor."

From what I have read the Angels are ready to spend big this offseason, so I doubt this will matter much. I just really want Crawford, they Angels have have Beltre, because I know he is going to pull shit once he signs his name to whatever absurd contract he gets.

In not so good news, the Rangers are rumored to have jumped in the V-Mart race. I find that kind of funny, because all we did is hear they had too many good young catchers for like 4 years, and now they are out searching for one.

Save The Rays!!!

Buster Olney wrote a great article today about how the MLB should save the A's and Rays. The A's are rumored to be moving for San Jose, I don't know if that is a good idea or not, but I do like the idea for the Rays.

Olney thinks the Rays need to be realigned. "Selig has the power to affect change on behalf of the Rays, too, through realignment. He needs to get Tampa Bay out of the AL East, to give the Rays a consistent opportunity for success. This, in time, will give them a chance to build their brand and make their case for a new ballpark (Olney)."

So where do you move them?

The NL is what he says, and I agree. Move the Nationals to the AL East and send the Rays that way. Why do you do all this, because the Rays are a team worth saving. If they could get constant playoff chances they could get a new stadium, and no one needs one worse then the Rays. Plus I think they actually do have a fan base there if they had a chance year in and year out.

I know most of you will think this is because I just want the Sox to have more easy wins. Well, you are right, but I do actually think this would be a good for baseball. People want to see the Sox and Yanks in the playoffs every year. The Rays could be a nice new market to grow....Just an idea, but I like it a lot.

Miguel Cabrera Drunk During Game?

"Cabrera's contract makes him the centerpiece of their franchise; he is their best position player. ...On Saturday morning, Cabrera was staggering drunk and taken away from his home by police, and at some point, there presumably was some question about whether his condition would prevent him from playing in the game. Leyland always has the right to say "no comment" on questions about Cabrera, or any issue. But when he suggests that any inquiry about Cabrera's incident and condition are 'gossip,' well, he's dead wrong (Buster Olney)."

WTF? Well this is not good news for Detroit fans, as he is the centerpiece of their franchise. They have already had to deal with his rapid weight gain, which caused him to move from 3rd to 1st. I guess in the end this could be an isolated incident, and the way he played in the 1 game playoff makes you want to forget all these problems.

Buster Olney's Take On Wagner Trade

A lot of people are saying how they don't like this deal, but I don't get it. Am I sold that he is going to be great for the Sox? No, but who cares? If he sucks the Red Sox will have him ride the pine, and then in the offseason they will offer arbitration and get picks for him. If he ends up somehow staying then you get a guy who should be 100% next year, throwing in the high 90's, and is a lefty. Seems like a win, win to me. Papelbon is not the Red Sox GM, and I am glad they don't give a fuck about what he thinks...
