Ochocinco Reacts to Chris Henry Death

It will be very interesting to see how the Bengals approach the rest of the season after the passing of Chris Henry. Mark Schlereth put it well on ESPN when he was was talking about how players move on in the NFL. He went on to explain as a former player how his teammates would have horrific season or career ending injuries and the team would simply move the practice to the other side of field rather than stopping. You cannot compare injury to death but the point being made is the Begals don't have a choice, they're playing the San Diego Chargers on Sunday and they need a big win.

Chad Ochocinco wants to fight Shawne Merriman for real

Ochocinco has came out and not been descret about his dislike for Shawne Merriman recent. Here are some of the quotes in no chronological order:

"I think back when we played last time," he continued. "I can't remember. I don't know. You know what, I think I copied his dance after I scored, and I think it pissed him off." -Ochocinco

"Tough? Why? That's not how I look at things. I'll whoop his ass, right now, like Will Ferrell. Yeah, like in 'Step Brothers."' -Merriman

"Merriman sent Ochocino a twitpic of the two players' faces superimposed over those of actors Ferrell and John C. Reilly in an advertisement for the movie "Step Brothers" with the message, "see u sunday."" -CBS Sports

"I will beat Shawne's head in, right now," he said. "It's not even fun. This is not in fun. This is personal. Bring it on. It is what it is. I think he might be one of the only people I don't really get along with. I want to fight. I'm not sure how to get the fight on without him suing me." -Ochocinco

"It would be a joke man," "It's like a little kid, you hold out your hand and you hold their head and they swing, you know, and they can't do anything. It's one of those things." -Merriman

"Roger has nothing to worry about in this case. I'll keep it legal -- as possible," -Merriman

Ochocinco is 6--1, 192 pounds. Merriman is 6-4, 265

My Take:
I love Ochocinco with a passion. I think his antics are wildly hilarious and it's great for the game. Other than the many times his mouth and some of his actions have gotten him in trouble with his team, his lively flavor and attitude is fun to watch. The man certainly works extremely hard and has elite talent....but not....as a fighter against Shawne "steroids" Merriman. Did everyone just overlook and forget that it was only 2 seasons ago that Merriman was suspended four games for taking performance enhancing drugs? *This whole only four games thing in the NFL blows my mind but I'll save that article for the next player that gets caught and no one cares. Anyway, back to the fight...is Ochocinco seeing the size of Merriman? Merriman is a fucking monster to put it boldly and frank. Like I said I'll be one of the first people to defend Ochocinco's actions but if this is real, I'm genuinely concern for the injury that would keep Ochocinco off the field come the hopeful playoff run. Being as all these quotes came before Chris Henry's death this morning, I don't see Ochocinco or Merriman even caring about one another. Sure they will hit each other a few times during the game but beyond that, they're going to play and leave.

Ocho...if you read this...here is your touchdown celebration sunday if you want to keep stickin' it to that "lights out" bullshit (obviously it comes with a fine almost equal to my yearly salary but I respect it every time):

>Bring a battery powered lamp (turned on all game)...bring it either to the endzone or the Charger's sideline and simply just turn it off......and only if your winning.

I can't think of anything that would be more subtle that would piss off Merriman more than that. And for the record, Step Bothers is a fantastic movie...kiss the baby Shawne Merriman you Tia Tequila Chris Browner

More On Chris Henry's Death

Chris Henry Is Dead

"Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry has died from injuries sustained while jumping into a pick-up truck during a domestic dispute (CNN)."

This guy had been a fuck up his entire life. He had loads of talent wasted it by getting arrest and in trouble with the Bengals, and now his life has become tragic. Apparently his fiancee and he were in a fight. She tried to drive away, and Henry decided to go all Bruce Willis on her and jump in the bed of the truck. He didn't make it very far, and fell out. He died in the hospital...

Ocho Cinco Not Playing Tonight

The Bengals season keeps getting worse. Today, Chad Ocho Cinco was deactivated for violating team rules. The Bengals have not come out and stated what Chad did, but they are sticking with their story that he will not play tonight against the Steelers. In the long run it really doesn't matter, because the Bengals season ended before it even started. Chad has been a headache all season, and I am sure Marvin Lewis has nightmares about this guy, because he is one of the main contributors to his failures as a coach. I think Lewis is going to be fired at the end of the year. It really is a shame, because I really thought he was one of the better coaches in the NFL, but these "deactivations" are too little too late. This team has been running wild for too long, and even as they finally come down on one of their players, look who is taking his spot...Chris Henry...Wow.

Bengals Resign Henry..WHAT????

I heard the rumors, but I refused to believe, but today the rumors became truth (for once). I'm sorry I know this guy is talented, but hasn't this team had enough shitdicks on it? Even head coach Marvin Lewis said he was "not interested" in bringing Henry back. Apparently he was overruled. Henry is suspended for the first 4 games of the 2008 season, and the Bengals have to hope that he can stay out of trouble. There is no question they are a much more dangerous team with Henry on it, but at what cost?

Chris Henry Reinstated By NFL

The NFL has reinstated the very troubled WR Chris Henry today, but also suspended him for the first four games. The Bengals already have stated that they will not take him back, which is a great move because they have had nothing but off the field problems. I know he is a great talent, but I don't see any team taking a chance on him. He has had a terrible record which includes being suspended for 8 games in 2007, punching a University of Cincinnati student (charges were dropped), and if the Bengals won't even take him back you know he is a bad dude. Just another thug that is a great waste of talent...

Chris Henry gets Released

It's about God Damn time. After his last incident which involved assault and breaking a car windshield with a beer bottle the Bengals finally cut their loses and cut his ass. He has been arrested 5 times since 2005 and is just a bad apple. However, he is extremely talented and I would definitely take a chance on him, he is young, tall and extremely athletic. Also, Henry getting cut definitely mean Chad Johnson is a Bengal next year.

Here is the breakdown of Henry's arrests:
* December '05: Speeding, marijuana possession, no valid driver's license or auto insurance
* January '06: Multiple gun charges in Orlando, including assault with a firearm, while wearing his #15 jersey. Plead guilty.
* May '06: Investigated in sex crime. No charges were ever filed.
* June '06: Arrested for DUI. Charges dismissed when defense proved breathalyzer was faulty.
* September '06: Teammate Odell Thurman gets a DUI. Henry, a passenger, vomits out the window.
* October '06: NFL levies two-game suspension
* January '07: Pleads guilty to giving minors alcohol the previous spring.
* April '07: Suspended for first eight games of '07 season.
* June '07: Henry and teammate Reggie McNeal allegedly assault a 16-year-old boy. The charges were deemed unfounded and dismissed.
* November '07: Accused of assaulting a valet at Newport on the Levee. No charges were filed, but Henry is banned from returning.
* April '08: Assault charges
