Kiper and McShay Think The Patriots Will Pick...

Ricky Sapp from Clemson. I like their reasoning behind this pick. Both of them state that the Patriots biggest problem is getting pressure on the QB, and Sapp seems to have a nose for that sort of thing. To make him even more valuable he is good in the 3 point stance as well as being upright. Basically he could be very much like Willie McGinest, which the Patriots have been missing for awhile, a guy who can play on the line as well as drop back in coverage.

This guy is a freak, and I am really starting to get high on him, but the Patriots always pick someone that wasn't even on anyone's radar, so who really knows...

A Funny Wedding Story

This is a true story about a recent Wedding that took place at Clemson University. It was supposedly in the local newspaper and was mentioned on Leno the other night. Pretty funny if you ask me:

After just standing there, just watching the guests' reactions For a couple of minutes, he Turned to the best man and Said, 'F---you!' Then he turned To his bride and said, 'F--- you!'Then he turned to the Dumbfounded crowd and said, 'I'm outta here.'He had the marriage annulled First thing in the morning.

While most people would have canceled the wedding Immediately after finding out About the affair, this Guy goes through with the Charade, as if nothing were wrong.

Ass Rape Wednesday on ESPN

I do not know if ESPN has trademarked this yet but if not, I want royalties. Hell they have a name for every other day of the week and given the ACC action shown on the ESPN family of networks, it seems to fit.

In the early game, Miami stomped Wake Forest in Miami. The margin of victory was 25. Wake was coming off a buzzer beating loss to Georgia Tech on Saturday and you will no doubt here the team is still hungover from their win against Duke a week ago tonight. Maybe. But Miami beat their ass flat out.

In the late game, Clemson dispatched Duke with the ease of a late November win. Despite only being down 12 at half, Duke was never in this game. Had you not seen them play all year, you would have sworn nobody has ever run full court pressure against them. They turned the ball over on consecutive in-bound plays 4 or 5 times. That's inexcusable at a big time D1 program. The final margin in this one was 27.

Jay Bilas made the point at the end that Duke won't be needing any balls at their next practice. I hope he's right. I hope K runs those fagots into the ground. They better shed some blood between now and Friday...and not just from the anal tears the Tigers gave them.

It was easy to laugh when the Big Least was beating up on themselves and it looked like even though they would get 9 teams in, only 3 were legit. For a second, it seemed like the ACC had regained its throne. Now, they are facing the same difficulties with a mess at the top down through the middle. At least the Big East has Penn, UConn and Louisville. The ACC has UNC and maybe Clemson.

Tommy Bowden Fired

Clemson fired football coach Tommy Bowden on Monday, four days after the Tigers lost to Wake Forest and fell to 3-3, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation.

Good. Clemson was supposed to be one of the powerhouse programs this year. They have been nothing but a huge disappointment and when you have a talented back like James Davis on the field you can't be losing like this. He had a chance this week of saving his job and this season by knocking off an overrated Wake Forest team, but he couldn't do that. He started off the season ranked 9th and after the first Alabama loss, things never were the same.

Bowden, the son of Florida State coach Bobby Bowden, has a 72-45 record and eight bowl appearances at Clemson.

Place Your Bets: College Football Week 1

The first week of college football usually features huge spreads as D-IA powerhouses take on IAA cupcakes. For everyone besides Michigan, these are essentially preseason games, with the starters taken out at halftime. These huge spreads make finding good bets a bit harder, but here are 5 that I like...



One spread that really caught my eye was Hawaii @ #5 Florida (-34 1/2). I know Florida's extremely good, Hawaii lost some key players, and the game's in Gainesville, but I just don't see anyone outscoring Hawaii by 5 touchdowns. If Florida racks up 49 points, they'll have to hold Hawaii to 14 in order to cover. Pick: Warriors +34 1/2

Another good one was #17 Virginia Tech (-9) vs. East Carolina in Charlotte (which is actually closer to Blacksburg, VA than Greenville, NC). I honestly don't know much about ECU, but they have Va Tech and West Virginia back-to-back on their schedule, so they got some balls. Still, 9 points isn't enough for them against Virginia Tech in a neutral location. Pick: Hokies -9



Michigan State @ California (-4). Michigan State isn't good enough for such a low spread against a solid Pac-10 team on the road. Pick: Golden Bears -4

#24 Alabama vs. #9 Clemson (-5 1/2) in Atlanta. This is the game I'm looking forward to seeing the most, with Illinois-Missouri a close second. Alabama is one of those SEC teams that's good enough to pull off a big upset of teams like LSU, Auburn, or Tennessee. But I don't think they're good enough to stay with these teams, and teams like Clemson, week in week out. So an upset is very possible, a close game is even more possible, but a Clemson victory by 7+ points is very likely. Pick: Tigers -5 1/2



Another good looking game is Oregon State (-3) @ Stanford. This is a very small spread, which is rare in college football. Stanford might be better than they were in 2007, and Oregon State might be worse, but the Beavers are still on top of the Cardinal. Besides, beavers chop down trees to make dams. Pick: Beavers -3
