Mickael Pietrus To Celtics?

Mickael Pietrus made some interesting comments that has been hoping he ends up on the Celtics (whenever there is a season)...

"A lot of teams are interested in me, like the Lakers and the Celtics," Pietrus tells L'Equipe via translation from HoopsHype. "This came from the best player in the world: Kobe Bryant. He told me two months ago that he would like to see me with the Lakers."

Obviously the Lakers would seem like the front runners for him, but I hope the Celtics take some interest in this guy. He is a great defensive player, and could be a nice asset as that "wing defender" (that should be on the list yesterday) that the Celtics have been looking for. Not sure why I am a big fan of Pietrus, but it started when the Celtics played the Magic in the playoffs a couple years ago. He just seems like a guy who would fit that "team defense" philosophy the Celtics are so great at. The question is how they would get this done. I would think it would be some kind of sign and trade with Big Baby might get it done.

Kobe Days With Lakers Numbered?

Mike Brown is officially the head coach of the Lakers, which I found shocking. What I found even more shocking is that they didn't even tell Kobe. Since the beginning we have heard that Kobe wanted Brian Shaw, who was the assistant under Jackson (there were some others, but he seemed the most logical). Yet the Lakers decided they wanted "a new system" and not more of the same. In a way I understand, maybe they think it's time to blow things up.

Yet, when I sit back and think about it longer I think the Lakers are fucking morons. First off, as I said yesterday, Mike Brown is an awful coach. On top of that this "system" they are trying to get away from (triangle offense) is a system that won them championships.

I think Kobe has the right to be angry. I mean the Lakers followed him when he ran Shaq out of town, and though it took a little while it ended up in more rings. Kobe has been the face of this franchise for a long time now, and he has no say on who wil be coaching. I am against players deciding these things, but you have already let him run this franchise for years, so why the change now?

Unless the Lakers think Kobe is done, or it's time to move on. Very interesting. In my opinion Kobe still has enough left in the tank that he is a top 3 player in this league. Can he win it by himself? No, but if Gasol decided to show up this year then I think we might be talking about the Lakers in the finals, and from everything I am reading it sounds like it is mental with Gasol, so maybe he will be good to go next year.

Or...

This Gasol vs. Kobe thing is real. There were rumors Kobe's wife blew up Gasol's engagement. If that's true that could be tough to get around.

Either way, it does seem like the Lakers are getting past the "Kobe player/GM" and moving into a different era. I don't think Kobe is going to get along with this coach, so could that mean that Kobe could be playing in a different uniform? Strange to think about, and it's really hard to imagine, but if they start losing Kobe is going to throw a fit, and that fit is going to be focused on the front office for hiring this coach and not the guy he wanted.

You Don't Want To Get Caught Saying This On TV

It will be interesting to see if the NBA does anything about this. I am sure that this happens so many time during a game, and is basically not a big deal, but it is a cover story on ESPN and it is very blatant what he says there. You really can't just yell "fucking fag" and think everything is going to be ok. Then again, I am sure KG has said much worse. I bet Kobe will deny it, and then this will be forgotten, because there is no way that they are going to suspended Kobe with the playoffs starting this weekend. I also bet there is going to be a shit fit thrown by gay rights groups.

So I guess we can add this to the list of distractions for the Lakers which already include Phil Jackson retiring, Bynum's injury, Chicken pox, Barnes bad knee, ect.

Kobe's Latest Stunt Is A Typical LeBron Move

Apparently Kobe Bryant after the loss to the Heat wet on the court and shot around for 2.5 hours to prove this is what you're supposed to do.

Well if anyone watched the fucking game you would understand that it wasn't Kobe's shot that lost the game it was his decision making. The Lakers were down 4 with 50 seconds left and instead of trying to make an intelligent play he launches a three 6 feet beyond the 3 point line and in the next possession he gets the ball stolen from Dwayne Wade.

I gained a lot of respect for Kobe over last year with being one of the greats, but shit like this brings him back to his passing for the second half in the playoffs Kobe. This stunt was blatantly so people wouldn't point their fingers at his decision making.

He's back to the doghouse.

More Laker Drama

A day after a rumor had come out that Ron Artest wants out of LA, the Lakers are now having to deal with Kobe Bryant calling out PoopFace (Pau Gasol)...

"When I'm out there being aggressive and doing my thing, he needs to follow suit and just be just as aggressive which is hard for him because it's kind of against his nature. But I think tonight was a good step," Bryant said.

"Even when he was in Memphis and he was the go-to guy, he was always very nice. Very white swan. I need him to be black swan (ESPN)."

As true as this statement might be the Lakers are really getting into a bad habit of calling their players out through the media. So far Phil Jackson has called out Kobe, Artest, and Bynum. Kobe has called out Gasol, and even the owner has got into the mix saying that the Lakers defense has been hurting because they are "too old".

Wow, and we still got a lot of the season left. The Lakers can certainly get back on track, but it is looking more and more like they could implode. If we were picking today I'd still say the Lakers are the most likely to make it to the Finals, even with how well the Spurs have been playing. I just trust Kobe more then any other player, but there are certainly cracks in the foundation of this franchise and this could get ugly quick if they keep using the media to air out their dirty laundry.

Shaq Doesn't Compete With "Little" Kobe

Not really shocking news that Shaq and Kobe have a feud, but I did find his recent comments comical...

When the Lakers won the NBA Finals last June Kobe Bryant said, "I got one more than Shaq (Shaquille O'Neal). So you can take that to the bank."

O'Neal, who signed with Boston in hopes of winning another championship, smiled when he heard that comment from Bryant.

"My first thought [after hearing that] was, 'Well, I guess I'm still relevant,'" O'Neal told ESPNBoston.com's Jackie MacMullan. "Kobe is still thinking about me, I guess. I'm still someone to be measured against.

"But I don't compete with little guards. I don't compete with little guys who run around dominating the ball, throwing up 30 shots a night -- like D-Wade (Dwyane Wade), Kobe.

"Now if Tim Duncan said it, I'd be pissed. He's the only guy I'm competing with. If Tim Duncan gets five rings, then that gives some writer the chance to say 'Duncan is the best,' and I can't have that (ESPN)."

Shaq would obviously view this different if he was the one with more rings, but anything that throws more fuel on the fire of Lakers vs. Celtics I am all for. I am not the biggest basketball fan, but even I have to admit this is more most excited I have been for an NBA season since the Celtics first brought in the Big 3. There are going to be so many great comments from guys like that Shaq we should be entertained all year long.

Interesting Theory On Why Shaq Joined The Celtics

The Sports Guy had a good article today about why Shaq joined the Celtics... Here are the main parts...

"You might remember the press conference after Game 7 of the 2010 Finals -- or, as it's known in my house, "The Night That Led To Dad Not Speaking To Anyone For Five Days" -- when Kobe couldn't conceal his delight when someone asked what the title meant to him personally, saying "I got one more than Shaq! You can take that to the bank."

Everyone laughed. Then Kobe added cryptically, "You guys know how I am. … I don't forget anything."

He's not kidding. A few minutes before, when everyone was celebrating in the Lakers locker room, Kobe let everyone know how much he enjoyed passing Shaq in the ring department. He did it loudly. Boisterously. Euphorically. With a few expletives. I've heard this story a few different ways, but in each version, Kobe sounded a little like Tupac lighting everyone up at the end of "Hit 'Em Up." But "everyone" was Shaq. You know, a little revenge for the "Tell Me How My Ass Taste" rap. And that's fine. I love this stuff. It warms my heart to know that, in an era in which the league's best players would rather join forces than beat one another, two of the best 12 players of all time still despise each other.

I don't think Shaq liked it. At all. Remember, Shaq could have gone to Greece or Italy, pocketed crazy money ($8 million to $10 million easy, tax-free), gained as much weight as he wanted, traveled Europe, dunked on a bunch of inferior opponents, become America's most beloved basketball export and expanded his brand to another part of the world. I can't imagine his business manager or agent advising him any differently.

O'Neal signed with Boston because "when I close my book at the end of the day, it's all about winning and nothing else." This was someone who told a teammate before the final game of his 2009 Suns season -- when they had just been eliminated from playoff contention -- that he "needed to start getting in shape for my reality show." Game 82 and you need to get in shape? Huh? Now you suddenly care about winning titles again? Now you're fine with swallowing your dignity to be a spare part, a minimum guy, an afterthought, someone with no security at all? Just to chase a ring? When you already have four?

My theory: I think Kobe's postgame routine got back to Shaq. I think it pissed him off. I think it got his competitive juices flowing for the first time in years. I think he realized Boston was his best chance to tie Kobe at five. I think he wants this more than anything. I think he shows up next month in surprisingly good shape, and I think we'll be saying in November, "Wow, that Shaq signing may have been a great move by Boston!" And I think this will happen for only one reason: because Shaq hates Kobe and Kobe hates Shaq. Just a theory (ESPN)."

Interesting. I agree with it to a certain level. I bet he does really hate Kobe, and wants at least one more shot at him, but I also think there is more to it. The Celtics are kind of the retirement home for NBA superstars now. I mean that in a good way. I think Shaq saw his options and sat back and was like "you know what? I would be pretty awesome to finish my career with KG, Allen, Pierce, O'Neal, and so on". We know he has always had a lot of respect for Pierce, and I think he thought this might be the most comfortable way to ride into the sunset. So, I do agree that Kobe is a motivator, but I also think the Celtics were the most "comfortable" way that he could end his career.

Raja Bell Clotheslines Kobe One Last Time

Raja Bell and the Jazz have agreed to terms on a 3 year deal worth nearly $10 million, prompting Bell to cancel his sit-down in Los Angeles with Kobe Bryant that had been scheduled for Wednesday night.

I personally find this hilarious. ESPN had been making a big deal that Kobe and Bell had buried the hatchet, and that Kobe really wanted him on the Lakers. Well, I don't believe for a second that Bell likes Kobe anymore then he did a couple years ago when he clotheslined Kobe in the playoffs and then called him "pompous, arrogant individual" who gets preferential treatment from the refs...hilarious!

Anyways, not a bad signing for the Jazz who are piecing together a decent team after it looked like it was going to be a terrible offseason losing Carlos Boozer and Kyle Korver. Now they have turned around and traded for Al Jefferson (who could be real good if he stays healthy and with Williams at PG), and Raja Bell.

Is Kobe Being Bryant Destroying The Lakers Chances?

Believe it or not I think Kobe is going to be the reason the Lakers lose the championship. This may be too premature, however, it seems like Kobe has completely got away from team ball. He hasn't relied on his teammates to help at all the passed game and has been hurling up difficult shots rather than looking for the easy shots. Basically he has gone away from Poopface. It could be the fact Andrew Bynum is hurt, and Ron Artest and Lamar Odom have been MIA, and his bench is awful, but when Kobe had a high assist number the Celtics were losing. It's almost to the point where Kobe is turning into the Kobe of old and only sees himself as he brings the ball up the court.

Another reason is a mental factor that I think his players are getting sick of. You see Kobe screaming at his teammates after a bad play and Kobe say I want the Ball, I want to defend, all about me. This give his teammates no confidence and they get stiff once they need to make a big play.

Anyways, I guess we will see how it pans out. The Lakers are still favored to win this series in Vegas. Let's see how that works out.

KoMe's awful photo shoot!

Kobe, like ARod before him, has gotten all narcisistic on our asses and partook in a LA Times Magazine photo shoot. Check it out here... http://www.latimesmagazine.com/2010/05/kobe-white-hot.html

This is really pretty fuckin' awful and I hope that his teammates are giving him the business in the lockerroom. However, judging by their passive public reactions to it I don't think they are. Kobe probably can't take a joke, so this could be some great fodder for fans in Utah. I hope someone gets it blown-up life-size and has it behind the basket during free throws.

Here's a couple pictures. WTF?!

Poopface didn't really like it that much, but he didn't really react to it the way he obviously wanted to - which would have been more like. "HAHAHAHA! What the fuck is he wearing?!"

Anyway. Fuck the Lakers, Kobe and Poopface.

Jesus. Out.

Lakers 100 Magic 75

I don't care what anyone says, but the Lakers are a much better team. Something about the Magic I just don't trust. They are so up and down you just never know what to expect. Kobe was awesome last night putting up 40 points 8 boards and 8 assists. I hate him with all my heart, but right now he has that look like he is just going to kill the Magic.

I also really think the Magic made a mistake bringing Nelson back for the Finals. The guy hasn't played in a while, and getting rust out of your system is something a team does not need in the finals. Nelson was 3-9 with 6 points 4 assists. He didn't have a terrible game, but this team was in a rhythm as they took down the Cavaliers, and I just wouldn't have messed with that.

The Magic live and die on the three, and it wasn't falling for them last night (8-of-23). If they are going to have any shot in this series they are going to have to shoot a lot better then that.

Here is a scary stat for the Magic...Phil Jackson is 43-0 in series in which his team wins Game 1.

WTF?!

FAIL.

Kobe's accuser drunk freestyle. This is obviously mocking the Shaq drunk freestyle in which he dissed Kobe some time ago. At any rate it is a pretty large FAIL, yet hopefully will give Kobe some sort of negative press before the Finals start.

And for shits and giggles ...

... at least I hope he's drunk.

Top 15 Best Selling NBA Jerseys

Well KG has finally lost the top spot of best selling jersey in the NBA. Apparently people love rapists, so Kobe claims the top spot. Here are the top 15..

1. Bryant, Lakers
2. James, Cavs
3. Paul, Hornets
4. Garnett, Celtics
5. Allen Iverson, Pistons
6. Dwyane Wade, Heat
7. Pierce, Celtics
8. Nate Robinson, Knicks
9. Pau Gasol, Lakers
10. Dwight Howard, Magic
11. Derrick Rose, Bulls
12. Allen, Celtics
13. Steve Nash, Suns
14. Shaquille O’Neal, Suns
15. Carmelo Anthony, Nuggets

I have to say that I am surprised that Pierce sells more jerseys then Howard, Nash, Shaq, and Carmelo...I didn't think he was that popular outside of the Boston area...

Spike Lee's Kobe Bryant Documentary

I'm not a huge Kobe fan, but he is an undeniable talent. Check out the preview below ...
