Shocking News: NBA Refs Are Crooked

"Bill Spooner, a 22-year veteran NBA official, is suing Minnesota Timberwolves beat reporter Jon Krawczynski for tweeting during a game that Spooner promised coach Kurt Rambis that he'd get the Wolves two points in the form of a make-up call, the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal reports. According to Spooner's suit, Rambis took umbrage with a foul called against his team in the second quarter of a Jan. 24 game against the Houston Rockets. Spooner then told an upset Rambis that he'd review the call at halftime.

Rambis asked how his team was supposed to get the two points back. While Spooner's suit claims he didn't respond to the Minnesota coach's question, Krawczynski tweeted otherwise.

"Ref Bill Spooner told Rambis he'd 'get it back' after a bad call," Krawczynski tweeted. "Then he made an even worse call on Rockets. That's NBA officiating folks (ESPN)."

There is no way for me to know if this report is true or not. The thing here is that it wouldn't surprise anyone if this was true. I mean can you seriously tell me that you haven't seen "makeup calls" in the NBA? After the gambling scandal a couple years back, this is the last thing the NBA needed. I think this just highlights once again that the NBA's biggest problem is the way the games are called. There are no standard rules for fouls. I mean every time down the court a foul could be called, so basically it's just whenever the refs feel like, which leads to stories like this.

I am not even going to get into the whole "star players getting calls" stuff, but even the biggest NBA fan knows that these are the worst refs in all of sports.

Stupid Bitch Sues McDonalds

"A California woman is suing McDonald's claiming the fast-food giant uses toys to market directly to young children. Monet Parham, a Sacramento, California, mother of two small children filed the lawsuit Wednesday in San Francisco along with health, nutrition and food safety advocates Center for Science in the Public Interest . CSPI is seeking court approval to proceed as a class action.

Parham, a 41-year old state employee, says her kids repeatedly ask for Happy Meals, mainly for the toys. "We have to say no to our kids so many times and McDonald's makes that so much harder to do. I object to the fact that McDonald's is getting into my kids' heads without my permission and actually changing what my kids want to eat (CNN)."

I really can't fucking stand stories like this. Is anyone not aware that McDonalds is bad for you? Even if your kid is pleading for "Happy Meal" toys it doesn't mean you have to cave in to the little bastards demands. Kids ask for shit all the time, the more you give, the more they ask for stuff. It really is that simple, so fucking grow a pair, slap that stupid chubby kid across his stupid fucking face, hand him a carrot and move on.

This is why I should be a judge.

Patrick Roy's Son Pleads Guilty To Assault

"The son of NHL great Patrick Roy has pleaded guilty to assault over an on-ice beating. Jonathan Roy pleaded guilty Wednesday in a Quebec court and offered a $5,000 check to charity. Patrick Roy was standing behind the bench when his son, a goalie with the Quebec Remparts, skated across the rink in a junior game in March 2008 to pummel the opposing goalie (ESPN)."

Wow what a badass. I love it when goalies skate all the way across the ice to fight the other goalie, because you know there is no reason why they are fighting other then some of their teammates are. Think about it...they never see each other (unless before a game), they couldn't be further apart, yet they dart out of their end and attack the other goalie......FANTASTIC!!!

Roethlisberger Rejects Settlement Offer

"The attorney for Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is rejecting a settlement offer by a former Nevada casino worker who claims the Super Bowl winner sexually assaulted her. Roethlisberger attorney David Cornwell says the woman's offer is bizarre. The woman wants Roethlisberger to admit to the allegations, apologize and donate $100,000 to the Committee to Aid Abused Women, a Reno nonprofit organization that offers support to domestic violence victims (Sportsline)."

Listen, I hate the Steelers with every inch of my body, but thank God Roethlisberger isn't caving here. Most guys would, just to get it over with, but he isn't, and that is good for every celebrity male in the world. It is scary how easy it is for a girl to go after a guy with a charge like this. This one is different from the rest in the fact that it is so blatantly fake. So, just for today, I salute you Roethlisberger....now go drive a motorcycle to celebrate....

Judge Tosses Out Cuban Case

I actually forgot about this whole "insider trading" thing with Mark Cuban, but it seems like he got away with whatever he did...

"A federal judge has dismissed a civil insider trading lawsuit against Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. The SEC alleged Cuban was involved in insider trading when he sold shares in an Internet search engine company, Mamma.com Inc., after receiving confidential information about a private offering in 2004. The SEC said Cuban avoided a loss of $750,000 by selling his 600,000 shares, which represented a 6.3 percent stake in the company. Cuban's lawyers argued that the NBA team owner wasn't legally an "insider (ESPN)."

You know what...Good. I like Mark Cuban. I don't always agree with what he does, but I feel like if I fell into a bunch of money I would buy a team and be just like him. He loves his team, and really gets involved. Plus in a business that usually has very quiet owners Cuban is more of just a fan who happens to own the team. So, good for you Mark Cuban keep livin' the dream!

Oh yea, maybe that pic above might be my favorite Mark Cuban pic...

Larry Johnson Loses Case

"As for Johnson, Burbank ruled that if the Chiefs cut him, they do not have to pay him a $3.5 million guaranteed salary next season because he breached his contract after being suspended last season, Berthelsen said (Sportsline)."

Larry Johnson did not share the same luck as Plaxico. He was looking for some of that 3.5 million, but he will not see a penny. He breached his contract, and had many off the field issues. Johnson is a fucking thug that hit women and I hope nothing but the worst for him. I am glad they are not going to have to pony up any of that money, and the team seems to be heading in the right direction behind Cassel, and the rest of the Chiefs extremely young team.

Burress Gets 1 Million From Giants

"Plaxico Burress lost his job Friday with the New York Giants, but on Monday he won his grievance against the team for bonuses withheld because of last year's suspension. According to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, arbitrator Stephen Burbank ruled the Giants must pay Burress a $1 million bonus plus an undisclosed amount for a 2008 roster bonus (ESPN)."

I am sure the Giants are not happy about this, but at least this is the final step of officially getting rid of this idiot. I hate the Giants, but I really respect them for how they handled all this. They didn't let Plaxico run the show, instead they just drew a line in the sand, and when he crossed it they told him to fuck off. You have to love that. Other teams we see get into terrible situations, because they get so fixated on what a player can do on the field. At some point you have to put your foot down. So, even though the Giants are fags, I'll give them credit for this.

Bosh is a Deadbeat

"Chris Bosh, the face of Toronto's struggling NBA franchise, is being cast in U.S. court documents as a deadbeat father who broke up with his girlfriend when she was seven months pregnant, leaving her destitute and without medical care even as she fell ill (The Star)."

How is someone who is making over $15 million a year not able to pay child support??? What a fucking asshole. It is really too bad, because he does some funny ass shit (like his youtube videos for the All-Star game), but in the end he is just another athlete who is a prick, and doesn't care about anyone but himself. He even had blog entries saying "I'm on top of the world right now" after his child was born. Now he doesn't even care enough to put some money aside for his own kid...

Things Get Worse For Clemens

Not only does Clemens have to go on trial for lying in front of Congress, but his lawsuit was basically thrown out against Brian McNamee today...

"A U.S. District judge in Houston dismissed most of Roger Clemens' defamation lawsuit against his former personal trainer Brian McNamee Thursday, agreeing that the court did not have jurisdiction to hear most of the case and that McNamee's conversations with George Mitchell were protected by his immunity deal with the government. Judge Keith P. Ellison agreed that because McNamee accused Clemens of using HGH and steroids while he was in New York to Mitchell and then repeated the accusations to SI.com reporter Jon Heyman, who is also in New York, the Southern District in Houston does not have jurisdiction (ESPN)."

Clemens could be in a lot of trouble, and not being able to go after McNamee is not going to help anything. This whole thing was to make McNamee look like the bad guy, but as more and more comes out it looks as if Clemens is going to have a real hard time defending himself during his upcoming trial. It will be real interesting to see if the government can really nail both Clemens and Bonds, arguably the best pitcher and hitter of all-time.

Union Goes After Giants

"The NFL players' union filed a grievance contesting the $1 million the New York Giants withheld from Plaxico Burress' signing bonus after he shot himself in the thigh in November at a nightclub (Sportsline)."

What a bunch of bullshit. Burress is a fucking punk and got what he deserved. You shouldn't be shooting a loaded gun in a crowd. He has pushed the Giants to the point that there is just no way they are going to bring this guy back. The union really just fucked any chance that Coughlin might give him another shot. He is going to want to put this all behind him, and he knows the best way to do that is to part ways with this shithead.

I am ashamed he went to Michigan State
