Racist Or Funny

Tough to decide on this one...

There's a chance we may find out if Wade accepts a job offer from a Chicago-area KFC, where he worked as a teenager.

Because of the NBA lockout, the fast-food, fried chicken restaurant said it will make a $250,000 donation to the company's Colonel Scholars program in Wade's name if he agrees to work at a local KFC drive-thru window.

The idea originated when Wade tweeted "Any1 hiring?" once the lockout became official. KFC general manager John Cywinski then wrote a letter to Wade saying he could be of assistance.

"We couldn't help but notice your recent tweet about looking for a new line of work in light of the lockout," the letter said. "We're always looking for folks with precisely your qualifications — initiative, teamwork and the ability to make buckets in a hurry (sun-sentinel.com)."

HAHAHAHAHA. Sorry, but that is damn funny. I think the funniest part is how this owner wrote back to Wade. "Ability to make buckets in a hurry" is fucking hilarious, but you have to wonder if someone is going to take this whole thing the wrong way. I doubt there is any chance he would do this unless it was a one day thing, but it is actually a great idea even if it is just for the day. I mean imagine the publicity KFC would get if Wade is there for an 8 hour shift? It'll be well worth the $250 grand they would throw to a charity, so I think he should do it.

Anyways, I found this hysterical.

This Is Kinda Racist

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant was ejected from an upscale Dallas shopping mall and given a criminal trespass warning from off-duty police officers Saturday after a dispute over the sagging pants worn by him and some companions.ESPN

I hate the race card, I do and it hasn't been really used by Dez Bryant in this case, but if he did he would be completely justified. Dez got kicked out of a high end mall for wearing baggy pants. As much as think wearing baggy pants is a stupid look, it isn't against the law. Do I think he ran his mouth when being approached... probably. But the fact he got approached is what I have a problem with.

I like Dez Bryant as a player but his name is certainly being talked about for off the field issues a little too much for a 2nd year player. There was speculation he could be moved this off season for his attitude issues and if that happens he will be your next diva wide receiver.

A Great Day For Orr, But Someone Is Missing...

Yesterday the Bruins honored the best defenseman of all time with a statue of his picture perfect moment of greatness. I could go on and on about Orr, how is changed the game, how he is the greatest Bruin of all-time, but that is not why I am writing. I have been listen to WEEI over the past couple of days, and someone brought up a great point...

Why doesn't Bill Russell have a statue?

Ted Williams has a statue, Orr has a statue, Red Auerbach has a statue, yet the man who had more championship rings then fingers doesn't. That seems wrong to me. Now, immediately my mind went to race. How couldn't it right? Boston is known as a racist city, and this could just be another black eye for the old city. Yet, there is still hope that there is another reason.

There is a very likely scenario that Bill Russell doesn't want a statue. You have to remember that this is a guy who didn't even show up to the Basketball Hall of Fame when he was inducted. He is a bit of an odd guy. Russell is notorious for his refusal to give autographs or even acknowledge the Celtics fans, but then at other times he can be a fan favorite. So, maybe he is just another athlete that really doesn't want all the media attention. That's his choice, and if that's the reason then I'm fine with it (yet I still want one built).

Another reason could be that the Bruins own the Garden, so they really don't HAVE to do anything. Though, I really doubt the Bruins would stop this if someone proposed it.

In the end, whether it is race, his choice, or the owners of the Garden, it is really something that needs to get done. This city is perceived as extremely racist, and though I don't agree with it, that's the way it is. I just think that they need to get this done, because Russell is probably the best athlete ever in Boston, and he should be remember always...

Oh and Menino kill yourself, Varitek doesn't kick field goals.

Racist or Not Racist?

I was at my bank today; there was a short line. Just one Asian lady in front of me who was trying to exchange yen for dollars. It was obvious she was a little irritated.

She asked the banker, "Why it change? Yesterday, I get two hunat dolla fo yen.
Today I only get hunat eighty? Why it change?"

The banker shrugged his shoulders and said, "Fluctuations."

The Asian lady says, "Fluc you white people too!"
