David Lee Sign and Trade Official

Well here is the last good free agent gone:

The Knicks moved David Lee to the Warriors for Anthony Randolph, Ronny Turiaf and Kelenna Azubuike was finalized.

I like the move for the Knicks believe it or not. The Knicks at this point need to make a team so they have got Morrow who is a good young player, a bruiser in Turiaf and a former wildcat in Azubuike. But the best thing about these guys are that they have been in a running system and that will be beneficial to Mike D'Antoni. The Knicks are in a tough predicament right now after losing the free agent extravaganza.

Lee to Sign One Year Deal With Knicks

The contract is believed to be worth $7 million for the 2009-10 season with incentives that could take it to $8 million if the Knicks reach the playoffs. ESPN

David Lee is a solid basketball player, and I hate to admit it because he went to Florida.(so that makes him kind of fruity) But the Knicks needed to do this, but I have a feeling next year, regardless whether they sign LeBron or not, him and Nate Robinson are going to bounce. These one year deals are going to bite the Knicks in the ass next year.

Knicks Resign David Lee

"The New York Knicks expect to sign restricted free agent David Lee to a one-year contract at some point after Labor Day, officials familiar with the talks said Friday. Contract discussions are expected to heat up next week, with a deal expected to fall into the $6 million-to-$8 million range. The only way the deal with Lee wouldn't get done is if another team offers the Knicks a sign-and-trade scenario for a player the Knicks like at least as much as Lee and still allows for future financial flexibility. No sign-and-trades have materialized at this point, and Walsh doesn't expect any (ESPN)."

It might not be the deal Lee wanted, but that is a good chunk of change for a role player. The Knicks are also close to resigning Nate Robinson. Robinson's deal is expected to be in the same ballpark as this one. The Knicks do not want to sign anyone long term, because they are expecting to be players in the big free agent class that will be available next offseason...
