White Sox Eliminate Twins

The White Sox beat the Twins tonight, and will be the last team into the playoffs. It was a pitching duel tonight, but one blast from Jim Thome's bat changed the game. Thome came up in the bottom of the 7th and hit one of the furthest HRs I have ever seen, and the White Sox won 1-0. The White Sox now move on to face Tampa Bay, and although the Twins' season is over they have to be impressed with what they were able to do this year. Most people didn't think that this team would be above .500 let alone be battling in a one game playoff for an opportunity to be in the postseason.

The White Sox and Cubs are in the postseason together for the first time since 1906. Kind of amazing isn't it? Well maybe that means that this will be the Cubs year, since they haven't won a World Series since 1908. Anyways, can't wait for the playoffs!

Sox Still Don't Know If Drew/Lowell Will Be Able To Play

Francona announced that a decision both Drew and Lowell has not been made yet. Francona will meet at the team hotel tonight with Theo Epstein to determine the roster. The encouraging thing is that both players took batting practice, but only Drew was able to do fielding drills. Lowell says that he could DH, but Francona quickly shot down that idea saying, “David is our DH. The way that the Angels play the game, we have to put our best team on the field. We want David DHing (Boston Globe).” So, I really think that Lowell, at best, will be a pinch hitter, but I do think Drew will be playing.

Here is the video of Francona's media session:

Yankees Give Cashman a 3 Years Deal

The New York Yankees Signed GM Brian Cashman to a three year deal. I guess it is a good thing to stick by a guy (usually the Yankees don't), but I am still really surprised the Yankees are bringing him back. The Yankees are coming off their first missed playoffs since 1993, and they bring back their GM? The Yankees are going to have a good amount of free money this offseason, since Giambi, Mussina, Abreu are coming off the payroll. Cashman will have his work cut out for him, since not only does he need to figure out what players to sign, but he also needs to make a decision on what to do with this young talent. Last offseason he had the chance to trade players like Hughes and Kennedy for Johan Santana. He turned it down, and now it is looking like neither of those players are going to work out (still some hope for Hughes). So, once again I am really surprised they are bringing this guy back.

Bengals Sign Benson

The Bengals signed RB Cedric Benson today. Benson was a first round pick of the Bears in 2005, but has been a giant waste of space, and I don't expect much to change. The Bengals are going down in flames and signing bust running backs is not going to stop it. Marvin Lewis is going to be fired by the end of the year, and this roster needs a complete overhaul. It will fun to watch two bust running backs in Chris Perry, and Cedric Benson get destroyed by defenses.

PS- Bengals STOP SIGNING GUYS WITH OFF THE FIELD PROBLEMS!!!

Dueling Couches Week 4 Power Rankings

1. (6) Tennessee Titans (4-0): Are 4-0, but had a very impressive win vs the Vikings. Rookie running back Chris Johnson looks like the real deal.

2. (1) Dallas Cowboys (3-1): Lost to the Washington Redskins, but hell good teams lose sometimes. Also, T.O. is saying he needs the ball more, maybe some chemistry issues in Big D.

3. (3) NY Giants (3-0): Had a bye week.

4. (5) Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1): Proved they can win against one of the best defenses in the NFL. But I would trust this 4 ranking more if Willie Parker came back.

5. (12) Washington Redskins (3-1): Proved to me they are not the worst team in the NFC East. But if that's true, who is?

6. (4) Philadelphia Eagles (2-2): Lost to the Bears, but good teams can lose.

7. (2) Denver Broncos (3-1: Hiccuped against the Chiefs, but their run defense needs to get better if they want to make a run.

8. (9) Buffalo Bills (4-0): Who would have thought. The Bills are taking full advantage of their easy schedule and continue to impress this guy.

9. (8) Baltimore Ravens (2-1): Lost to Pittsburgh, but their defense is terrifying and Joe Flacco looks ready.

10. (10) Carolina Panthers (3-1): Jake Delhomme looked good as the Panther dismantled the Falcons.

11. (15) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1): Have proven me wrong this year, and did a great job beating another hard team in Green Bay.

12. (11) New England Patriots (2-1): Had a bye week.

13. (14) San Diego (2-2): Had everybody worried about losing to the Raiders last week. Has LT lost a step?

14. (22) NY Jets (2-2): Destroyed Arizona as Favre torched them for 6 TDs.

15. (18) New Orleans Saints (2-2): Their high flying offense is amazing even without Shockey and Colston. Duece is back and that means they have a power running game.

16. (24) Chicago Bears (2-2): Upset the Eagles in another shocker of the week.

17. (7) Green Bay Packers (2-2): Tough loss this week, but at least it looks like Rodgers will be able to play this week. Packers really need to find a running game.

18. (13) Indianapolis Colts (1-2): I think you are going to see the Colts of old after their bye week.

19. (17) Jacksonville Jaguars (2-2): Two wins in a row, but that offensive lines needs to help get this running game going. If they don't I think you are going to see Garrard in the hospital.

20. (20) San Fransisco 49ers (2-2): DP called it and I am becoming a believer, they may win this division, but they won't win against the Patriots coming off a bye week.

21. (16) Minnesota Vikings (1-3): You would think they will eventually get things together, but it doesn't get any easier as they face the Saints in New Orleans.

22. (21) Seattle Seahawks (1-2): This team will be in the top 15 with in the next two weeks. They just got their WRs back, and you know this offense can run the ball.

23. (19) Arizona Cardinals (2-2): Kurt Warner put up some great stats, two bad he is still turnover prone. If he can't control that, this team won't go anywhere.

24. (23) Atlanta Falcons (2-2): Ryan is the real deal, but the real story is that this team can run the ball. They won't make the playoffs, but this will be a scary team going into next year.

25. (29) Cleveland Browns (1-3): They finally got a win, but it was one of the ugliest games I have ever seen. The hope for them is they can get healthy coming out of their bye week.

26. (25) Miami Dolphins (1-2): Was the beating they put on the Patriots a fluke. I think so, but we will soon find out.

27. (27) Oakland Raiders (1-3): Well at least they can put think whole coaching mess behind them. Still, I think he was a good coach, and this team won't do much till Al Davis is gone.

28. (26) Houston Texans (0-3): Expected more from them this year. I still think they could be dangerous.

29. (30) Detroit Lions (0-3): At least Millen is gone, but can Kitna right the ship for this year?

30. (31) Kansas City Chiefs (1-3): I still can't believe they beat the Broncos. They will need to ride Larry Johnson if they ever want to win again.

31. (28) Cincinnati Bengals (0-4): They aren't going to win without Palmer. Hell they might just not win at all. I would put them in last place, but the Rams are just so bad.

32. (32) St. Louis Rams (0-4): Coach is fired, and the new guy puts Bulger back in as starting QB. He should never have left.

I guess Rashard Mendenhall kept his word

I guess when Rashard sent a text message to the Ravens he wasn't thinking they would literally kill him. Rookie runningback Rashard Mendenhall will be placed on the IR with a broken bone in his shoulder, which is not good news for Pittsburgh figuring Willie Parker is already banged up. Also, Starting right guard Kendall Simmons will be out for the year with a torn Achilles which also sucks for a team that can't pass protect anyways. Soon the Steelers will be auditioning Bob and I to block for them.

Why Not?

Why not watch finger break dancing?

Lane Kiffin Is Finally Gone

Lane Kiffin is probably happy that he is getting fired. Especially since every single week he has to go through all this all Al Davis shit. Kiffin probably will have no problem getting a new job due to him being on the shittiest team in the world. I like Kiffin he just loved being a thorn in Davis' side. This summer Davis to him to resign he said No. Davis wanted to fire him last week and the Raiders won so he couldn't. Good for him.

I posted this two weeks ago. No need to write anything else.

Ricky Williams Still Loves Pot

“There was definitely an urge. But I just thought about what I have to lose and it was easy. The urge didn’t last very long.” Williams said he successfully combated the urge to smoke by meditating instead.

”I’ve done a lot of work at understanding myself a little bit more,” Williams said. “So I recognize [the urge] was just a result of the feeling of being free, and I was just trying to maximize it. And I realize that I really enjoy meditating and when I can go home and sit in my room and meditate, I can get the same feeling.”

My god Ricky, please stay away from pot. You have got so many chances and have already missed so many games, it is not not worth it. Comments like this should never even come from you.

Twins vs White Sox

Today the Twins play the White Sox for all the marbles and who better to decide this game than a 26 year old and a 23 year old. Nick Blackburn will be going against John Danks to decide whether the Twins or the White Sox are going to the playoffs. I like both teams, but I have to root for the Twins on this one. Not only am I thoroughly impressed on how they handled themselves at the end of the year, I am amazed that they could be this good after losing the likes of Torii Hunter and Johan Santana. Joe Mauer might have the MLB batting title over Dustin Pedroia and Morneau probably is in second line of the MVP under Pedroia, but after those two in the line-up, I start to worry who will step it up. For the White Sox the have Jermaine Dye, Jim Thome and impressive rookie and my favorite player in this game "The Cuban Missle" Alexie Ramirez. I think it will be a low scoring affair and the Twins will take it 4-2.

23 Pittsburgh, 20 Baltimore

A hard fought game between two hard-nosed division rivals. A whole bunch of unnecessary roughness calls, injury timeouts, the depth chart for running backs going all the way to the bottom (4 injured backs not including the absent Willie Parker), and an ending in overtime. Flacco had a great 1st half completing for 12 on 106 yards. At the half, Roethlisberger only threw 5/9 for 43 yards and a pick. Once the 2nd half came, Roethlisberger went no-huddle and found Santonio Holmes for their first touchdown in 15 days. The Ravens got the ball right after and Flacco fumbled en route to a Pittsburgh defensive touchdown. Ravens stayed alive with a strong showing from Derrick Mason catching 8 receptions for 137 yards. But it was Ben Roethlisberger with a 148-yard 2nd half of passing. He was also sacked 3 times in the first half, but never again. Jeff Reed had a big game kicking 3/3 and the game winner.

Sox Might Have Lowell and Drew Back For Game 1

The Sox may have got better news today, as J.D. Drew and Lowell took batting practice, and may be ready for Game 1 against the Angels. Yesterday the Sox found out that Beckett will not be ready to go till game 3, but that blow would be softened if Lowell and Drew are healthy and in the lineup. Hopefully the pain has gone down enough for Lowell to be able to take the field, and hopefully Drew has decided that he actually would like to play baseball. I really do expect them both to be out there, but I am not sure how long Lowell will be able to manage the pain.

Aspiring Chef Dies After Eating Red-Hot Chili Sauce For A Dare

"An aspiring chef died after eating a super-hot chili sauce as part of an endurance competition with a friend. Andrew Lee, 33, challenged his girlfriend’s brother to a contest to see who could eat the spiciest sauce that he could create. The fork-lift truck driver, who wanted to cook for a living, prepared a tomato sauce made with red chillies grown on his father’s allotment. After eating it, however, he suffered intense discomfort and itching. The following morning he was found dead, possibly after suffering a heart attack (FoxNews)."

DP and I have had very similar competitions, and I read this story and looking back I am really glad neither of us are dead. We had a hot sauce in college that you could put a drop of it into a burger, cook it, and it will still make you feel like you were going to die. That stuff sucked, one time this kid, who we knew, got it in his eye. That kid is in the army now, but I'll tell you, he cried like a little girl, and I don't blame him. Dieing from hot sauce has to be one of the worst ways to go. Poor guy...

Springsteen To Perform In Super Bowl Halftime Show....At Least Max Weinberg Will Be There

Another Super Bowl, another safe performance ever since the "wardrobe malfunction". This time is will be Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. I am not the biggest fan of his. I like his music and all, but he is a political activist, and I really just don't want to hear it. I mean who isn't these days, but what I am excited for his seeing Max Weinberg. If you don't know who he is then you should be shot, because he is on Late Night With Conan O'Brien. Which is one of the greatest shows of all time. Especially way back in the day when they had Andy Richter on the show as Conan's sidekick. Anyways if you don't know his here are some videos of stuff he did on Late Night.

BC and UConn... Man Up and Play Each Other

One thing that pisses me off about BC's football scheduling is that they don't play UConn. Chestnut Hill is only 80 miles from Storrs. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are 85 miles apart. Michigan and Ohio State are 188 miles apart. Miami and Florida State are nearly 500 miles apart. In college football geography, 80 miles is a stone's throw.

Boston College doesn't have a football rival. Say what you want about Notre Dame, but the Irish don't care. Their rivals are USC, Michigan, and Purdue. The same goes for Miami (actual rivals: Virginia Tech, FSU, Florida), and Virginia Tech (actual rivals: Miami, Virginia).

So, Boston College, UConn, let's make a deal here. Play each other for 6 years and see what develops. Hell, play at Gillette Stadium if you want a neutral location. You can split up the 70,000 seats evenly between schools. BC, you'll get noticed more by the media in Boston. UConn, you'll steal a little attention from your basketball teams. Make up some silly trophy to play for like Paul Revere's Saddle or something. Call it the Blackstone River Shootout brought to you by Carl's Jr.

So instead of playing UMass or URI or Holy Cross or UNH, man up and play each other!

Homerun Production Down. Drug Testing The Problem?

This year the home run production has been down and I know the culprit. The pesky steroid testing. Personally, I think steroids should be aloud to be used in baseball but that is a different topic for another time. This year an average of 2.01 home runs were hit per game dropping .04 from last year. Miguel Cabrera leads the AL with 37 homeruns this year, it's lowest total since Fred McGriff hit 35 for San Diego.

Everything was down this year from runs, slugging, and even total bases. I know everyone is trying to clean up the sport, but is this what people really want to see? If we are getting out of the "Steroid Era" we are certainly entering the "Boring Era" in baseball.

Linehan Out, Haslett in

Scott Linehan is out as the Rams head coach after starting the season 0-4, and sporting a 11-26 total record with the club.

I think this move is necessary. The Rams were once a feared franchise is in the NFL, having the name "Greatest Show On Turf", but now they are just a terrible team. With a team that has Mark Bulger, Tory Holt, and Steven Jackson you have to be better than that. I also like Haslett, he did an alright job with the Saints for a long time and I think he can do a good job with Rams as well.

31 New Orleans, 17 San Fransisco

In a game that the Saints needed to win they were able to take advantage of a bad San Fransisco 49ers team to pull off this dominating performance. Two big things won this game for the Saints, 1. a steady power run game was present Duece McCallister ran for 73 yards and a TD (no more Pierre Thomas) and 2. the Defense had a huge game intercepting JT O'Sullivan twice when the 49ers were marching.

Team leader Devery Henderson had 81 yards and needed 82 as he got tripped up at the 1 yard line.

Also, I went to the Superdome for this game and the Atmosphere was awesome along with the "Who Dat" chants.

Either Prince Fielder Has A Drinking Problem...

Or the Brewers just made it into the Playoffs thanks to the Mets. It has been a long year, filled with trades and a new coach but the Brewers are in the playoffs. CC Sabathia again looked like the regular season ace that he is as the Brewers beat the Cubs 3-1. But this is not the story that should be reported on, the real story is that the Brewers only had this year to make the playoffs and they did, figuring CC, and Ben Sheets will be departing after this year. They will be going against the Phillies in round 1, and this is a series I know they can win.

Josh Beckett Hurt

Josh Beckett will not be leading the Red Sox in game 1 vs the Angels, as he injured his oblique throwing a bullpen session yesterday. This is not good news, but they are talking like he is going to be ready for game 3. Thank God the Sox have 3 good starters, or this would be a complete disaster. There is no doubt that Beckett is still the ace of this staff, and you have to look no further than his playoff career numbers, in 10 postseason outings during his career, he is 6-2 with a 1.73 ERA, Including going 4-0 last year. Hopefully this is just a minor injury and he will be fine for game 3. The Sox don't need anymore injuries, since they have already been playing without Mike Lowell and J.D. Drew. With Beckett out for game 1, Lester will take his place, and Dice-K will pitch in the 2nd game.

NFL Recap

There was a lot of upsets in college football this week, and it was no different in the NFL. Denver losing to Kansas City is the game that really stands out to me (it mostly stands out because I lost 250 on that game). Another upset was the Redskins over the Cowboys, even though this was an upset more people should have seen this coming, as these games between these two teams are usually close. The last game that stands out to me is the Jets game, not that it was an upset, but it was just a ridiculous game, that had a horrible ending for the Cardinals.

Kansas City 33, Denver 19
Denver's QB Cutler seemed to be forcing the ball to Marshall too much, and Denver's defense just looks terrible. Larry Johnson ran right down their throats, and the Broncos defense had no answer. The Broncos have a lot of speed on defense, but they don't have any power, and seemed to get pushed off the line. Any team that has a good running back is going to be able to do what Larry Johnson did, and think about it Larry Johnson doesn't even have a good offensive line.

Washington 26, Dallas 24
The Cowboys had no running game, and the Redskins controlled the entire game. Time of possession had a lot to do with the Redskins win, as they had the ball for over 38 mins, compared to Dallas, who only had the ball for 21 mins. Romo threw a pick, but he played a good game. Owens was thrown to 7 times for 71 yards and a TD, but he was still bitching that they weren't throwing him the ball enough. You know what that means....here comes the yearly Owens explosion.

New York Jets 56, Arizona 35
This was like watching me play Madden. Favre was awesome, but people are going to overlook the real story in this game was Kurt Warner's 6 turnovers. That is just unacceptable, and they really could have won this game if he could just hold onto the ball. The Jets still have many questions on defense, and I don't think they are going to be able to force the turnovers that they got in this game. Still 6 TDs is just silly.

Here is the knockout blow to Anquan Boldin...damn he got lit up:

Mets require heimlich maneuver again

The Mets fell this afternoon to the Marlins capping off their second straight september choke. Honestly, i'm so happy im not a mets fan and i will tell you why. not only was it the last game at Shea...ever, but it was a heartbreaking game when they needed a lift so badly. And say what you want about their bullpen, yea they gave up two homers to eventually lose the game, but what about the offense? You cant go into a must win game and score only 2 runs. David wright went 0-5 in the most important game of the year. Everything would have been forgiven if they could only pull off 1 win. What a shame.

Now the Brewers will travel to ole Philly while the Dodgers go to Wrigley.
(thanks Lester)

Schadenfreude

Schadenfreude is a German word basically meaning the joy taken from the misfortune of others. And in college football, this week has been full of Schadenfreude for me.

1. USC loses to Oregon State
How can anyone in New England root for a team coached by Pete Carroll? USC chokes in easy games and it's funny as hell. And they play their fight song 50 goddammed times a game.

2. Florida loses to Ole Miss

There aren't any cupcakes in the SEC, but Ole Miss? Come on. And at home? Why do I hate Florida? Well I hate every program in Florida. I hate the state of Florida. It's California without the film industry.

3. Clemson loses to Maryland
Clemson fans think they're in the SEC. They also think they're one of the dominant programs in the ACC. They have 1 national title, and haven't won a conference title since 1991.

4. UCLA loses to Fresno State
The mediocrity of the Pac-10 is fun to watch. They're 14-12 in non-conference games. There are 2 ranked Pac-10 teams out there. The Mountain West and WAC also have 2. Same with the ACC and the Big East. The SEC and Big XII each have 6.

5. Louisville loses to UConn

Louisville always gets overrated because they play 4 Thursday night games and put up 50 points against Memphis or Cincinnati. As much as I hate UConn, watching Louisville fall 26-21 at home was priceless.

6. Syracuse loses to Pittsburgh
Cuse has lost 20 of its last 22 Big East games. Their only win this year was a 30-21 squeaker over Northeastern.

7. Miami loses to North Carolina
How hard is it to recruit in Miami? No academic standards, no background checks, and it's frigging Miami!!! Watching them lose is entertaining. They have talented athletes, but they don't have good football players.

Who I want to lose next week:
#17 Boise State to Louisiana Tech because I hate the term "BCS Buster"
#10 South Florida to Pitt because USF annoys me
#6 Penn State to Purdue because the Big Ten doesn't deserve a national title shot
#24 UConn to UNC because screw the Big East and screw Connecticut
Notre Dame to Stanford because fuck Notre Dame

The Mighty Shall Fall

1. USC Lost to a team called the Beavers 27-21
2. Oklahoma Handled Buisness
3. Georgia Lost to number 8 Alabama 41-30. Keeping my Bama National Title hopes alive.
4. Florida Lost to Old Miss 31-30
5. LSU Handled Buisness
6. Missouri Off
7. Texas Handled Buisness
8. Alabama Handled Buisness
9. Wisconsin Lost to Michigan 27-25
10. Texas Tech Off

Other Notables
16. Wake Forest Lost to Navy 24-17
20. Clemson Lost to Maryland 20-17.
23. East Carolina Lost to Houston 41-24.

What this means. Well for the SEC this means that teams like LSU and Bama can get away with a road loss and still be in National Title contention.

Alabama Shocks Georgia 41-30

In Nick Saban I trust. Yea, I said it. Loved him when he was at LSU, still love him now. Today Alabama went into the "blackout" in Georgia and made it Georgia's funeral for a National Championship. Alabama flew out to a stunning 31 point lead at halftime, mostly due to the play of their defense, and costly mistakes by Georgia's offense. Georgia got two roughing the passer calls on them in the first half, and they just seemed to be a little out of control (maybe a little too hyped for this game). Moreno, who is one of the best running backs in football, was held to only 34 yards on 9 carries. To make matters worse, Georgia offensive line was awful, and their QB Stafford had to run for his life most of the game. Alabama was in control, but they did have a little score in the 2nd have, as Georgia seemed to regain its composure as they scored 17 unanswered point coming out of halftime, but it wasn't enough and a 12 yard rushing TD by Alabama's Glen Coffee sealed the game. With the win I expect Alabama to go up from #8 to either 3 or 4, and now have serious hopes of a National Championship. ALL FEAR NICK SABAN!!!

Red Sox Playoff Schedule

Game 1: Wed., Oct. 1 @ Anaheim, TBS
Game 2: Fri., Oct. 3 @ Anaheim, TBS
Game 3: Sun, Oct. 5 @ Boston, TBS
Game 4: Mon., Oct. 6 @ Boston*, TBS
Game 5: Wed., Oct. 8 @ Anaheim*, TBS

*if necessary

The times of the games have not been announced, but I'll get them up when they are released. Looking at the schedule there is very good news for the Sox, the Angels chose the longer series, so the Sox will only have to use 3 starters in this series. I think we have 3 of the best starters in the MLB in Beckett, Dice-K, and Lester.

Lowell Might Be Out For Playoffs

There are many reports coming out today that Mike Lowell has hurt his hip again. He hurt it during his only at-bat last night, when he popped out to first. That was his first appearance after missing eight games with pain in his right hip. Now it seems that the pain is back, and it is seeming less and less likely that he is going to be able to play through it. Not having Lowell would be a big blow to the Red Sox chances of repeating as World Series Champions. I really thought that Lowell was going to be able to tough it out, but the pain just seems to be too much, and Lowell's comments after the game are not encouraging...

"I would defer to we'll see what time says," Lowell said. "By no means do I think I'm owed a roster spot just because I've played here. If I'm not going to do anything that can help the team win . . . but in the short series it's a little different. You don't have to carry as many pitchers. Maybe pinch hitting is an option. We'll see. I'm not ruling out anything yet, but obviously I was disappointed today (Boston Globe)."

The Sox will begin their playoff battle against the Angels on Wednesday, and it doesn't seem like that is going to be enough time to get Lowell back on the field. Though luck for a guy who has tried so hard to comeback, unlike J.D. Drew.

Tribute To Jason Williams

Jason "White Chocolate" Williams announced his retirement today ending a ten year career. He retired two months after signing with the Clippers.

I respect him a lot because not only did he play flashy, he played like an old school "Pistol" Pete style. The only bad thing I have to say about Williams, is that he went to Florida.

Awesome

Yankees End Sox AL East Hopes With 19-8 Win

From worst to first, that is what the Rays have done this season, and it was finally written in stone as the Yankees spanked the Sox 19-8. It was an odd night at Fenway. The fans were ready to retire Pesky's number, and make a run for the AL East, but instead it was a game that cancelled the Pesky celebration, and heavy rain made the game extended till 1am. People should read too much into this, because the Red Sox really didn't try to win this game. We know that since any game that Pauley is starting is a joke, and he proved it again last night letting up 6 runs in 2 2/3 innings. The Sox also didn't play Ortiz, Pedroia, or even Varitek. Smart choice by Francona, as the chances of winning the division were very slim. The game got uglier as Aardsma got lit up, and he is looking like he is just completely useless, just like Timlin (who also played in this game). In the end, the only positive note out of this game is that Mike Lowell was able to DH for an at-bat, so hopefully that means he is going to be ready for the playoffs.

Another Woman Doing Something Important

First we have one running for President, then one running for Vice- President, and now a woman for a MLB General Manager. WTF America.
Acutally, I think this is a good move for a terrible Seattle Mariners team. With all the shit that has happened this year including, Ichiro almost getting the code red, Richie Sexson, and Eric Bedard, it might be nice for a breath of fresh air. Ng has worked with the Yankees and is currently the Dodgers assistant GM. She has done well with the Dodgers, so hell, why not.

College Football Picks

For all of you following my college football picks I am sorry. And if you possibly have been gambling on my picks I buried you. But this week will be my resurrection and improve my 7-7 record.

The game of the weekend is (8) Alabama vs (3) Georgia

I like Georgia and I like Knowshon Moreno a lot, but I like Alabama better. Georgia has an inexperienced offensive line and I believe Nick Saban will be able to take full advantage of it and get to Matt Stafford. Alabama's strength is their offensive line and that has led to a pleasant surprise of Bama runningback Glen Coffee. Bama also has the best wide receiver in the country in true freshman Julio Jones. Georgia can go with the black out/ white out/ red out that is not going to matter on Saturday night, Bama has this game.

Bama 21-17

The second game is (2) Oklahoma vs (24) TCU

I am going to take Oklahoma in this game. Oklahoma has a 24 game home winning streak and has a chance to be the number 1 team in the nation. TCU has a good offensive line, Oklahoma's is better. TCU has Andy Dalton throwing the ball, but Oklahoma's Sam Bradford is better. TCU would have to play flawless to have a chance to upend Oklahoma, and I just don't see that happening.

Oklahoma 35-13

(12) Penn State vs (22) Illinois

This was a really tough decision for me because I do like Juice Williams, but the ultimate decision came down to me always rooting for JoePa. The Lions offense has been out of control and that has led to the biggest scoring differential of 42.8 points. Their defense is outstanding and that leads to a long game for the Fighting Illini.

Penn State 45 to 21

And the non top 25 game

Viginia Tech vs Nebraska

Expect a huge game from Tyrod Tyler, even though he has a hurt ankle. Nebraska is 3-0 but they have played no one so far. Tech's defense is amazing.

V-tech 35-17

Jackson Against Bulger Benching

The Rams are already a mess, and now it seems that their locker room is getting torn to shreds. Steven Jackson (one of the only players that are good) came out today and slammed the decision to bench QB Marc Bulger.

"You just rewarded this man with a new contract last year, millions of dollars, and you bench him. Then if things do not work out with Trent, you go back. I don't like it at all," Jackson told St. Louis radio station KLOU on Thursday night. "I think there's a lot more people that could take the blame for this. I don't think it's fair that one person takes the blame."

You know what? Jackson is right. I rearly back players that speak out against a team, but this was a poor decision. It is the Bulger's fault that this teams sucks. He has no offensive line. His WRs won't take a hit, and even Torry Holt is not what he once was. On top of all of that they have one of the worst defenses I have ever seen. I will be really surprised if they team wins more then 2 games this year, and if I was Bulger I would demand a trade (I think Minnesota might be interested).

Week 4: What You'll Be Watching

You know what sucks? Bye weeks. Week 4 starts the bye week rotation and from now through week 10, at least 4 teams will be missing from action each week. Bye weeks fuck up everything. Fantasy, gambling, TV schedules, you name it. This week blows especially hard as 6 teams will be MIA. In addition to eliminating all preseason play, let's get rid of bye weeks. And helmets.

1 O'Clock Games:

Most of the country will get the early CBS match-ups including Denver @ KC, Houston @ Jax or Cleveland @ Cinci. New England, along with the bulk of the nation will see the Denver game which should be a lopsided blow out. If that's your thing. The other two games are pretty shitty so no skin off my balls there.

As if we haven't had enough Brett Favre rammed down our throats, Fox is carrying the Cards/Jets game to a small portion of the country. Lucky Boston. Everybody else will get the battle of the Bays while we're stuck listening to yet another announcing team felatiate Favre (it will be Dick Stockton, Brian Baldinger and Brian Billick in case you're wondering). Sure is nice to see Billick finding work after the Raven years.

4 O'Clock Game:

No pluralization necessary. There is only one 4 O'clock job worth watching. Washington @ Dallas brought to your living room compliments of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. The Skins are questionable at best and Dallas should win going away but it is a fascinating rivalry nevertheless.

I guess if you live on the West Coast or Buffalo you could watch the San Diego/Oakland matchup or the Buffalo/St Louis. Maybe if it was San Diego playing Buffalo I'd be interested. As is, no thanks.

No Wonder He Got Benched

Why Not?

I know this was on yesterday. But Why Not watch a Zombie fight a Shark?

Kevin Garnett Says Repeat

"Give me a couple more short summers where I feel like with this team, [we] set our mark. Every Celtics team sort of had their run, and its multiples. It's only right that we set our mark in this league like Timmy [Duncan] has done it with the Spurs, Kobe [Bryant] and Shaq [O'Neal] have done it [with the Lakers]. This is my opportunity to do that. I'm trying to take advantage of it fully right now."

I believe you Kevin. This team is getting older, but thats not necessarily a bad thing. The development of Rajon, Perk, Leon, Davis, Walker, Giddens and Pruitt are escential for a Celtics repeat. Lets be honest here the injury bug has to strike sometime, and we are going to need someone to fill some roles and I believe the players are all capable of doing it.

27 Oregan State, 21 USC

Well another football prediction of mine was wrong and It wasn't Bama making it to the National Title game, yet. For the second year in a row USC has lost to an unranked opponent. Last year was Stanford and this year was the Oregon State Beavers. The Beavers had this game from the word go. Jacquizz Rodgers was the story here running for 186 yards and 2 touchdowns against the number 1 USC Trojans. The Beavers defense held that vaunted USC backfield of Johnson/ Gable/ McKnight to 77 yards, which is remarkable.

I find this ridiculous, I thought this team was going to be just as good as the Leinart, Bush, White USC team and maybe even better and again they have let me down. I am not saying that I root for USC but I root for teams like USC, Georgia, Alabama, Michigan so I don't have to listen to the Florida bullshit. I still believe USC has a chance to make it to the National Title because the SEC teams and Big 12 teams will beat each other up.

This Just In...

Alright I'm sure by now most of all of us have seen this ridiculous shit about Ichiro and everyone trying to fuck him up. For one, the Mariners suck more than an Asian prostitute (no pun intended). But seriously what the fuck is this, of all the players on the team they want to fuck Ichiro up? Come on now hes the best player to be in Seatle since A-Rod and Junior Griffey. If anything they should be going after Beltre, their catcher who doesn't even count as a player considering he sucks so much and Richie "I love cock in my ass" Sexson. Seriously Seatle, you don't deserve a team anymore. As an organization you suck at drafting young talent, and if you have it you give it up for the likes of Ben Brousard (granted he was sick in Baltimore, but sucked ass in Seatle until getting injured). What happened to the good old days when the Mariners where the most exciting team in baseball to watch(I don't care what you say, Griffey, A-Rod-when he was fun to watch, a young Freddy Garcia, and Randy Johnson where mint to watch play)? Granted that I am a New Englander and love all of our teams besides the Bruins because quite frankly hockey sucks to watch until the play-off's, I loved watching the old school teams like the 9ers and the good version of the Mariners. Please executives of the Mariners, bring back the good ol' days and draft the next Griffey or A-Rod and bring some more excitement to my life. With that being said, FUCK THE YANKEES, HAVE FUN PLAYING GOLF THIS FALL BITCHES!!!!!

Why Not

watch a Zombie battle a shark. Thats right, thats what I said.

Sox Sweep Indians With 6-1 Win

The Red Sox are still have a chance for the AL East crown, since Tampa Bay lost to the Tigers earlier today. Boston looked great tonight as Lester carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning. He fished with a very strong outing of 6 innings allowing only 2 hits 1 runs with 4 Ks to get his 16th win of the year. He didn't need to go deep into this game, as the Sox offense got off to a very fast starting scoring 5 runs in the first two innings. Then in the 7th Youk made his MVP case with a solos HR (btw I still think Pedroia has it locked up).

Even Boston's bullpen looked great, because even when Lester left the game, the Sox held the Indians scoreless for the rest of them. Masterson, Okajima, and Papelbon each worked an hitless inning. I think Boston was showing the setup that they will be using in the playoffs (in terms of their bullpen). I really like those 3 guys, and I know a lot of people are really down on Okajima, but he has looked really good lately. The only sour note for the Sox was that J.D. Drew didn't play, no word yet on if his back acted up, but I was expecting him to play at least a couple innings tonight.
