Sox Lose To Jays 6-3
Tough game for the Red Sox to lost today. Lester was roughed up in the first two innings, but then was able to settle down, it wasn't enough and the Sox lose 6-3 to the Jays. Lester let up 1 run in the first, but had a little bit of a melt down in the 2nd giving up 4 runs. Even though Lester struggled a little bit today, it was the Sox offense that still looks like the main area of concern. Boston could only collect 3 runs on 7 hits (granted they were going against Halladay). It seemed like Boston was going to be able to hang around in this game as Halladay exited the game when the score was only 5-3. So, I was think the Sox would be coming back, since the Jays bullpen isn't all that great, and it is asking them to do a lot to shut down the Sox for 3 innings. I was wrong, as the Jays bullpen surrendered no runs and only 1 hit. Toronto was able to keep their playoff hopes alive for at least one more day with this win.
On the bright side of things Jason Bay continues to impress going 2-3 with a 2 run HR, and David Ortiz is looking better and better as he was able to get another RBI today. The problem for the Sox will continue to be health. Crisp, Cora, Casey, and Kotsay are decent players, but they can't carry this offense the way Lowell and J.D. Drew can. It is just a very different lineup without those to guys in there.
