Shit's Gettin' Real

This is actually what people in New Orleans do every Friday afternoon...

Celtics Vs Bulls Preview

Today the Celtics play the Bulls in what should be an easy game. The Bull have a starting rotation with rookie Derrick Rose, Thabo Sefolosha, Luol Deng, Tyrus Thomas, and Drew Gooden starting at Center. With this starting line-up anyone can pick what the Celtics need to do. If they pound the ball down low and feed the ball to Perk, KG and Leon they will be able to take care of the Bulls lack of center problem. However, I think the real person who is going to push the Celtics over the edge is Rajon. He is going to be the next superstar on the team and doesn't want to let rookie Derrick Rose to show him up, so expect a 20 point high assist game from him.

Celtics 103-87
Tommy Award: Rajon Rondo

Why Not?

Why not have a tug of war with stocking? Apparently people in Japan do it...

Sox To Bring Back The Wake

Wakefield has been with the Sox for 14 years, and today it is being reported that the Sox will invite him back for his 15th year. The Sox held a $4 million option on the Wake, and they are going to exercise it at some point today. Good move for the Sox, Wakefield is a steal for 4 million. He can eat up some innings, and even though he will most likely go on the DL at some point next season, he is worth having on the team. In a pinch he can also be moved to the bullpen. Lets just hope that back can hold up for most of the season.

Just A Thought

I was thinking today and my master plan for the Red Sox or for our spanish viewers Medias Rojas is this.

1. Sign Mark Teixeira.
2. Move Youk to left field.
3. Move Bay or Drew to center.
4. Package Ellsbury/ Buccholz/ and some other prospect for Jake Peavy.(not a Peavy fan but he is a good pitcher)
5. Much Rejoicing

There you have it Theo. That is how you win a world series.

Our line-up would be.
Youk
Pedroia
Papi
Tex
Drew
Bay
Lowell
Lowrie
Catcher

Pitching
Beckett
Lester
Dice-K
Peavy
Wake

Amazing

Flames Beat Bruins 3-2

Calgary Flames continue to impress the hockey world as they recorded their 5th straight win, with a 3-2 victory over the Bruins. The Bruins started the game well as Patrice Bergeron popped in the only goal in the first period, but the Bruins were killed by the Flames power play line as Dion Phaneuf, and Michael Cammalleri both scored in the 2nd while having a man advantage. Bruins, and Flames both scored, in the 3rd, but Boston just didn't have enough in the tank to tie the game. The Bruins really could use a goal scorer on this team. In the NHL today it is important to have a 30+ goal scorer, and I just don't think the Bruins have a player like that. What the Bruins do have is solid defense, and some play makers, but they lack the Brendan Shanahan's (from back in the day) of the world to just put the puck in the net. Bruins are now 5-3-3 on the season, which places them 5th in the Eastern Conference.

Mike Singletary Knows Motivation

"His team was down 20-3 and he wanted to illustrate how badly they were playing.
So, a 49ers spokesman confirmed, Singletary dropped his pants. The coach was wearing boxers. "

To each his own. Everything Mike Singletary has done I not only agree with, but I would do. I think that he should really coach in his boxers and moon his team every time an opponent scores. In his first week as a coach he already benched perennial bust Vernon Davis, had a press conference saying he would only play with 10 guys if he could and done his halftime speech in his boxers.

Jerod Mayo: Defensive Rookie of the Month

Jerod Mayo has been playing better every week for the Patriots, and today his hard work has been rewarded by winning the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Month. Mayo is leading the Patriots in tackles for October with 24. If that wasn't good enough he actually leads the Patriots for the season in tackles with 55. With Bruschi's career coming to a close, it's great that a high draft pick (#10) like Mayo worked out. From here I only see him getting better, and with a great defensive line in front of him, he will have the opportunity to put up some great stats.

Bynum Gets 4 Year Deal

The Lakers have given a four-year contract extension to center Andrew Bynum worth about $58 million. This is really a great move by the Lakers. I think Bynum is going to be awesome for a long time, and the Lakers are making sure that he will be sticking around for a while. LA might have the best team in the west this year with Kobe (fag), Gasol (fag), Bynum, and Odom (the man) as their 6th man. I know Bynum is unproven, but it is so hard to get big men with his talents. Trust me he is worth the risk.

Tigers Let Renteria Go

The Detroit Tigers declined the option on shortstop Edgar Renteria's $11 million option. The Tigers still have to pay him 3 million, but in my mind they had to do this. Renteria does not play well in the AL, this year he only hit .270 with 10 homers and 55 RBI, and is 33 years old. DP loves this guy, but I can't stand him. I really just think he is awful, and I just base that on his defensive play in Boston. Hopefully Renteria will listen to me when I say, "STAY IN THE NL". He could still be a solid player there, because for some reason he seems to tear it up. As long as I never see him in or around Boston again, I'll be a happy man.

Griffey Jr. - FREE AGENT

If you don't like Ken Griffey Jr., I don't like you. Actually I hate you. Given it is not a surprise that the Chicago White Sox have declined Junior's $16.5 Million option and Griff does earn a $4 Million buyout but I hope everyone is as excited as I am that Griffey is a unrestricted free agent. I want Griffey on my team no matter what. With his leadership and interaction with the fans, I can only pray that he fills the left field gap for the Mets.

Griffey,

I love you. No homo. Come to the Mets and break-in Citi Field! Even Willie Mays became a Met toward the end.

Your best friend,
Scott Beer

Varitek To Tigers?

There are rumors going around that the Tigers may be very interested in Varitek. To me this actually makes sense. The Tigers' have the kind offensive lineup that could carry Varitek's offensive inadequacies, and they could use a solid defensive catcher that calls a great game, since they got rid of I-Rod during the season. Hopefully this is true, so the Red Sox can move on from their "captain", and start focusing on who may be the future catcher for the franchise. Once again, these are just rumors, but the Sox have not contacted Varitek yet, about any kind of contract.

Phillies Are World Champions

I fell asleep last night eventually around 4am. when i slept i had a dream, but it was the only time in my life where the dream was nothing more than an exact depiction of what had just happened.

The Phillies are world champions courtesy of their finalization of game 5 last night. It started out quickly with a pinch hit double by Geoff Jenkins. He would eventually make his way home by way of some small ball. Rhode Islands Rocco Baldelli quickly erased the lead with a solo home run...i find it hard to hate the man given the adversity hes overcome so if anyone was to do it...

After Madson was taken deep the Phils went back to work and the most senior member of the Phils was up to make something happen. Burrell missed a homerun by about a foot and a half and walked into second with a double. Bruntlett pinch ran and would eventually score.

Former sock J.C. Romero pitched well and handed it off to lights out Lidge where the game would end.

I dont care if no one watched it. I dont care if it had the worst ratings level of any World Series. i dont care. The phillies are the World Champions. Say what you want about the AL, the Rays magical season, or how low the ratings were...you can all go to hell. I know that thousands of people stormed the streets of Philly last night and tomorrow at the parade an expected 2.5 million people are going to show up. We've waited for so long for a major championship, combined between all sports about 100 years. The wait is over.

Talk Talk Talk.

The Philadelphia Phillies are the best in the world.

Red Sox Offseason Preview: Infielders

SEAN CASEY
"The Mayor" is now a free agent. Casey is an awesome clubhouse guy, but the Red Sox seemed to lose faith in him as the season went on. Eventually, Mark Kotsay took his spot on the depth chart. I think a lot of it had to do with Casey's lack of power (0 HRs), and below average fielding ability. Casey showed he can still hit for average (.381), and I think someone team would love to pick him up, just don't expect it to be the Red Sox.

KEVIN CASH
Cash is under the Sox control till 2011, and caught "The Wake" well in the field this year. Still, Cash gave little to no offense this year. I think he could be back, but a lot of that might depend on what the Sox decide to do with Varitek. My theory is no matter what Cash will be back, as long as Wake is on the team.

ALEX CORA
Cora is a free agent, and he is another player that might be looking for a new team next year. Cora is still good in the field, and does a lot of the small things for the team (bunts, sac flies, ect). The question will be what the Sox decide to do at SS. Boston would love to get rid of Lugo, but if they can't then there will be a lack of roster space with Lowrie and Lugo already on the team. Basically, if Lugo is still on the team, there is very little chance Cora will be back.

MARK KOTSAY
Its weird putting him as an infielder, but he played very well in the postseason at first. He is a free agent, but I would like to see him back next year. As long as he doesn't mind being a backup in right field and first base, the Sox could bring him back. Lowell and J.D. need a lot of days off, so he will get plenty of at bats. Most likely Kotsay is going to want to play everyday, so I think he will be gone. Yea, the Sox are going to have some holes to fill.

MIKE LOWELL
Mikey Lowell is signed through 2010 for about 12.5 million a year. He might have the most heart on this team. He showed he will try to battle through any injury to be able to play. Still, the problem is that he is getting old, and the Sox are going to have to make sure that have someone around that can eat up some at bats. I think he will be more productive next year, but the Sox have to be happy that they have someone like Youk that can shift over to 3rd when needed.

JED LOWRIE
Under the Sox control till 2014. He showed he can play in the big leagues. I think he is going to be starting next season, but the Lugo question still hangs over their heads. Lowrie is a solid hitter, that plays a lot of Pedroia. I think in time he could be a lot like Pedroia actually, but only time will tell if he gets the opportunity.

JULIO LUGO
Signed through 2010 with an option for 2011 for about 9 million per season. Lugo sucks, and the Sox once again find themselves in a position where they might have to eat his contract in any trade that they try. Lowire is 10 times the shortstop that Lugo is, and it seems like Lugo has even lost the ability to be a solid defensive replacement. I want him off the team so bad. There is not a single thing I like about him.

DAVID ORTIZ
Big Papi is signed through 2010, with a club option for 2011. He only makes 12.5 million a year, which is a steal if you look around the league. Ortiz struggled with injuries for the better part of this year, but hopefully his wrist will be better before next season. Still, the Sox can't bank on this guy being around forever. His knees are on borrowed time, so the Sox are going to need the bottom of the order to play a lot better. I still think Ortiz will be a solid 30 HR 100 RBI guy for the next season or two, after that I think you may be asking too much.

DUSTIN PEDROIA
The Sox have this guy tied up till 2012, but I think he is going to get a long term deal before the All-Star break of this coming season. I don't understand why he is so good, but he gets it done. Pedroia may even be the MVP for the AL this year, and the Sox have to be happy that they have a very productive second basemen for as long as they want him around (how many teams can say that?).

JASON VARITEK
The captain is a free agent, and most people are saying that he will be gone, but I'm not so sure. The players on the team love this guy, and there is a reason why the put the "C" on his chest (I hate it). I really hope he isn't back, but there is still something in the back of my mind that says he will get a 1 year deal. He calls a great game, but his offense has gotten to the point that he is an automatic out, and the Sox do not have the kind of lineup that can overcome something like that.

KEVIN YOUKILIS
Youk is under the Sox control till 2010. Most people don't remember, but the Sox actually approached Youk about a contract extension before last season. He turned it down, and said ti was way to low, then went out and had an awesome season. The season was so good that he may even be in the running for MVP with Pedroia. Youk works hard everyday, he gets on base, and plays great defense. He even showed he can hit for power this year. Not to mention the fact that he can also play first. There is a good chance he will also be getting a long term deal before next season ends.

Greg Oden Out 2-4 Weeks

An MRI and CT scan on Wednesday revealed that the injury the Portland Trail Blazers center suffered in Tuesday night's game is a mid-lateral right foot sprain that will sideline him two to four weeks. ESPN

Dammit Greg. I love you and why can't you just be awesome. Your personality is amazing and I think you have the defensive prowess of Bill Russell. Yea I said it, Bill Russell, so fuck you. This sucks for the Blazers who have experienced bad luck with centers such as Sam Bowie and Bill Walton. However, be patient Portland, Greg Oden is the real deal.

Knicks 1-0

It is hard to remember the last time New York Knicks' Fans were excited for opening night at Madison Square Garden. Tonight, the crowd was pumped up and ready for the D'Antoni/Walsh era.

Rome was not built in a day and neither will the Knicks' new empire. Sure the Knicks bea the Heat 120-115 but there are still many things for D'Antoni to focus on in practice. Interestingly, neither "Starbury" Murbury nor Eddy "I'm a bitch" Curry saw one minute on the floor (coach's decision). The Knicks in the 4th quarter looked like they were going to coast to a double digit opening night blowout but, in typical Knicks fashion, they made it interesting and cut it close. Miami had to outscore NY 40-29 in the 4th just to come within' 5 at the game's end. NY was led by Jamal Crawford's 29 points, Zach Randolph's 20 pts/9 rebs and David Lee's 16 pts/11 rebs. D. Wade shot 9-24 for 29 points for Miami. Michael Beasley shot a poor 4-14 from the field, 1-5 FT for 9 points and 4 rebounds. Now even though Beasley may have had a rough debut, rest assured, Beasley has remarkable talent and in my opinion...Hall of Fame potential. His combination of speed and size makes it almost too easy to drive the paint and attack the basket. Once "Beastly" learns to finish strong, the number of defenders in the NBA that can matchup with him will be a blessed selected few.

Lastly, doesn't the Heat new head coach look like M. Night Shyamalan?

Daly Being A Legend

John Daly once again proved that he truly a legend. This time he was taken into custody after being so drunk that he passed out outside of a Hooters in North Carolina at about 2am . It is obvious that this man is going to go down in a blaze of glory, and all I am wondering is how long will it be till E! gives Daly his own reality show? I'd watch it, and I hate reality TV.

PS - Isn't Hooters closed at 2am?

Keith Rivers Talks About Hit... or Mumbles

What Keith Rivers said:
"I mean, I would have done it," he said. "Honestly, whatever. It is what it is. You know, you reap what you sow. That's what happens. What goes around, comes around. We'll see what happens."

What he meant to say:
"Fuck, Fuck, Fuck, that motherfucking, asshole, cocksucker, fuck! I would kill that motherfucker if I had that chance, as a matter of fact I'm gonna kill that motherfucker now! Hines watch your ass! Will somebody please pass me my motherfucking ham and cheese smoothie!"

Peyton Manning's Diary: Week 8

Dear Diary,
I'm sorry I haven't spoke (or written, I guess, LOL) to you the past few weeks. I've been shooting 10 commercials a day. But I didn't get paid for any of them. I just decided to shoot a commercial for every product/service/company in the world, that way my agent can call them and offer my endorsement with the work already done.

But these days the advertising agencies don't seem to want me to be in their commercials. Unless I bring Eli with me. The economy must be really bad if they don't want me in commercials.

I've been sick the last two days with the sniffles. It was cold in Nashville Monday night. 45 degrees! Where were we? Santa's Workshop on the North Pole?

I remember asking Coach Fisher and Coach Tony if we could play the game inside, or postpone it, because it was so nippy. "I left my mittens and scarf in Indiana," I complained, but Coach Fisher just rolled his eyes and walked away. Jeff Saturday offered to keep me warm with his body heat. Then he winked at me. I told him to take care of Marvin, because he gets the coldest.

Monday's game was hard, and I almost cried on the sidelines. But I was afraid my tears would freeze to my face and I'd get hypothermia and die, so I held it in. I've said it before, I'll say it again: football should only be played when it's sunny, and warmer than 55 degrees.

We lost because it was cold and we have lots of injuries. At least, that's what Coach Tony said, and everyone on the TV seems to agree. We do have a lot of injuries. I played Monday night with a headache that really bothered me until Dallas Clark gave me a head massage and got rid of it.

I've been throwing more interceptions than I used to, but they're not my fault! The other teams must be cheating somehow. How else could it be possible?

I decided to talk to Bill Polian. He lets me call him Willy because he likes me so much. He's the one that complained about those mean old Patriots being mean to my teammates and made sure they'd get in trouble for it. This time, I asked him if we could make a rule eliminated the interception altogether. Not just for me, I think it hurts every quarterback's feelings when they throw one. Football is supposed to be fun, it isn't supposed to hurt. He said he'd try, then he gave me some gum.

Coach Tony decided to cheer us up this week with fun Halloween activities. Yesterday we bobbed for apples and Officer Tim from the Indianapolis Police gave us a talk about Halloween safety.

Guess what we did today...

JACKOLANTERN CARVING!!!

It was so much fun. Coach Tony said he loved mine, and it was real scary.

I can't wait for Halloween. Do you know what my costume is? It's a big secret, but I know I can trust you, diary. I'm going to be my favoritest character from my favoritest movie ever: Woody from Toy Story. I know it's not scary, but I always wanted to be a cowboy. Or an astronaut. Maybe next year I'll be Buzz!!!! Why can't there be 2 Halloweens a year?

Robert Mathis has the scariest costume in the history of Halloween. He's going as Rodney Harrison. When he said that, my heart skipped a beat. Coach Tony yelled at Robert and told him not to bring the costume into the locker room because it was too scary. I asked where Robert would be trick-or-treating on Friday so I could stay on the other side of town. Ghosts, goblins, and ghouls are scary, Rodney Harrison is terrifying!

I'm just glad I don't have to see him on Sunday.

Until next time diary, I love you. And Happy Halloween!

LeBron Says The Cavs Are Five Times Better.

Really? When you lose you say that?

A few notes about the Cavs, Mo Williams, Delonte West, Daniel Gibson and Wally are essentially the same player. They are all shooting guards who have range but can't drive or play a lick of defense. LeBron James last night looked like he has completely forgot how to play defense because Paul Pierce was getting to the rim with ease.(maybe the Olympics are and will catch up to him) I didn't even know that Ben Wallace was on the team, where was he last night? The Celtics will play similar defense every night, but KG and Ray Allen will be scoring a lot more and Eddie House won't be as cold. What does this mean for the rest of the league? Watch out. If the Celtics hit their shots last night they could easily have scored 110 points.

Even Bill Walker knows LeBron sucks.

Wilfork To Be Fined

Just as I thought, the NFL is going to hand out a fine to Vince Wilfork for his elbow to the head of Denver QB Jay Cutler. No word as to how large the fine will be, but they're suppose to announce it by Friday. Wilfork was fined a total of $35,000 last season for four different episodes, but it's hard to take any of it seriously as the NFL seems to fine everyone and anything (example Hines Ward). The good news is that he won't be suspended because the Patriots will need him this week vs. the Colts.

World Series Boring: Duh

The 5½ innings the Philadelphia Phillies and Tampa Bay Rays got in during the rain Monday night received an 8.2 rating and 12 share, Fox said Tuesday. The previous low for a fifth game was a 10.0/17 for the San Francisco Giants' 16-4 romp over the Anaheim Angels in 2002.

Obviously. If you don't live in Philly this World Series is irrelevant. Even Rays "fans" didn't come out until game 7 of the ALCS. I thought that the Rays being in the World Series would be a good thing, but it looks like the Red Sox beating down on a NL team is a lot more appealing to the US.

So Let Me Get This Straight Isiah....

You OD on sleeping pills, say it was your daughter who ODed, the cops said no way they would mistake a 47 year old man for a 17 year old woman and you are sticking by the story?

This guy is a bigger snake then I thought. I hated the man as a Coach, GM and especially as a player (highlights) and now I have a reason to hate him as a person. I don't respect this man at all and neither should anyone.A person who decided to throw his 17 year old daughter under the bus rather than fessing up to his own actions is a snake. He could have said he did it by accident, but I guess blaming it on your daughter is a lot more honorable.

God Isiah, I really wish you died.

Bruins 1, Vancouver 0

You very rarely see a goalie start games on back-to-back days. Coach Claude Julien, however, went against the norm and started Tim Thomas in net Tuesday night. It was a wise decision.

Thomas stopped every shot that reached him, recording 31 saves for his 2nd straight shutout. Unlike Monday night's outing, Thomas needed to make a few more spectacular saves. He went post-to-post, made saves on his back, and kept calm when the crease was crowded.

He hasn't allowed a goal in 132:14 of game time. He's stopped 61 straight shots on net. Last season, he didn't record a shutout until January. He already has 2 and it's not even November.

The Bruins have excelled on the road so far. They're 4-1-2 (10 points) away from the Garden, as opposed to 1-1-1 (3 points) at home. They're also 3-0-0 west of the Mississippi. Maybe the B's should start their home games at 10 PM Eastern time.

The road trip ends Thursday night in Calgary. I'm just going to assume Thomas will be starting in net.

90 Celtics, 85 Cavaliers

First, I want to say fuck TNT for not letting us hear Paul Pierce's thank you speech. Second, it was a hell of a game. Maybe not a game 7 in the playoffs good but good none the less. Paul Pierce had one of the most emotional ring ceremonies I have ever seen, if you didn't get teary eyed watching it you are unamerican. He also was the catalyst to the Celtics tonight as he scored 27 points. KG had only 11 points and Ray Allen only had 6. Rondo played well after getting in early foul trouble as he scored 14 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds and 3 steals and the question about how Tony Allen will do replacing James Posey went away as he played excellent defense and scored 11 points on 4-9 shooting. Also, don't worry about the departure of P.J. Brown scare you, "Hard Work" Leon Powe has it covered with 13 points and a timely dunk at the end of the game.

As for the Cavs, LeBron James had 21 points and was off a majority of the night especially at the free throw line(3-6), his newly acquired wing man Mo Williams scares me but was contained well by Rondo only scoring 12 points. The Cavs are starting to be my new Pistons, they play unnecessarily chippy and I hate them, they talk the talk, and don't walk the walk.

Strong concern: The Celtics missed a ton of free throws going 21-34 from the line.
