Info On Tonight's Banner Raising Ceremony
Here is everything you need for tonight's event (according to Boston.com).
The ceremonies begin around 7:30 p.m., and will be shown on TNT.
Former "American Idol" contestant and BC hoopster Ayla Brown will sing the National Anthem around 7:38 p.m.
The ceremonies will feature players getting their rings, video highlights from the championship season, and, of course, the raising of the banner to the Garden rafters. The banner raising will take place at around 7:52 p.m., according to the Boston Herald.
Celtics legends will be part of the festivities as well. Among those expected to be in attendance: M.L. Carr, Bob Cousy, John Havlicek, Tom Heinsohn, Cedric Maxwell, Satch Sanders, and JoJo White.
Commissioner David Stern is expected to speak tonight, as is Paul Pierce, who yesterday talked about what the banner-raising means to him.
The rings are worth about $30,000 and feature emeralds and diamonds, with a shamrock front and center.
Tipoff is expected to be at 8:02 p.m. on TNT. If you remember, the last time the Cavaliers visited the Garden was Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals, which featured a memorable shootout between Paul Pierce (41 points) and LeBron James (45 points).
