DC Exclusive - Update

Two days after Pro Football Talk reported the grave possibilities concerning Tom Brady's knee and one day after Dueling Couches reported more surgeries the Boston Herald has confirmed the additional operations. Says Karen Guregian in today's Herald:
Doctors are so concerned about containing the infection in Tom Brady [stats]’s left knee they have performed three procedures in an attempt to eradicate it, according to a source familiar with the Patriots [team stats] quarterback’s travails on the West Coast.

While Brady acknowledged on his Web site that he had one arthroscopic procedure done to “clean and to test the wound” last Wednesday, the Herald has learned there have been two additional procedures performed since that time, with the same goal in mind.

According to the source, the fear is the patellar tendon graft used to replace Brady’s anterior cruciate ligament is in danger of becoming compromised. Should that occur, the entire ACL reconstruction would have to be removed and redone from scratch.

Now the doctor who performed the surgeries goes on to say that in all likelihood the infection will be eradicated and they will be able to maintain the original surgery. That is the good news.

For the majority of you who thought it was inappropriate or irresponsible for DC to post the story about the 3rd surgery, I have three words - Eat. A. Dick. A major newspaper (that has had issues credibility in the past but nevertheless, a major newspaper) came out 24 hours later with the exact same news that you read here. Is anyone going to call Karen Guregian and hassle her because she used a "source familiar with the Patriots quarterback's travails on the West Coast"? Because guess what? I guaranfuckingtee we have the same source.

You want another DC exclusive heard here first? There is a rift forming within the Patriots organization over Tom's choice of surgeon. Team doctors and personal wanted him to have the surgery in Boston by Dr. James Andrews. Tom would have none of that and opted for a West Coast procedure. If this blows up, and Brady misses some significant time, pay close attention to the relationship between the team and the franchise quarterback. Could get icy.

Anyone want to challenge the sources on that?
