Celtics Vs Cavaliers Preview

For opening night I couldn't figure out who to put as the picture, so I put a guy who witnessed the previous 16 banners being raised. Tonight will be the first banner raising without legend Red Auerbach in attendance. As for the match-up itself; I could picture a better opening game. The world champion Boston Celtics will take on LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. This game will be a really tough match up figuring the last time we saw LeBron was after him and Pierce did their best Larry Bird/ Dominique Wilkins impressions in game 7 of the playoffs. Obviously Pierce was the victor and LeBron is still bitter as he said earlier this week that he will not watch the banner being raised because "We don't need to be out there watching that. We're not fans of Boston and don't need to be out there clapping," and "It's stupid".

The Cavs line-up is newly acquired PG Mo Williams, former Celtic Delonte West/ or former Celtic Wally Szerbiak(?), LeBron James, Anderson "Sideshow Bob" Vareajo, and Ben Wallace. On paper that doesn't look bad at all and if Mo Williams is somewhat productive this could be a very dangerous team. The Celtics go into tonight with their normal starting 5, Rajon, Ray, Paul, KG and Perk and Tony Allen being the first one off the bench.

The way for the Celtics to take care of this game is to take advantage of the obvious mismatches on the SG spot. Ray Allen and Tony Allen will be able to take Delonte and Wally all game long and if it all goes to plan, the Celtics will take tonight.

Score: 95-84 Celtics
Tommy Award winner: Tony Allen
