Ohhh So That's What David Meggett Has Been Up To

Back in the day David Meggett was one of my favorite players on the Patriots, and I always wondered what happened to him. I remember a couple years back Meggett was "arrested in Toronto after authorities said he allegedly assaulted an escort worker after a three-way sexual encounter. A trial on the assault charge ended with a hung jury in April 2000 (wiki)". Well it seems he didn't learn his lesson, and is just an all around terrible person.

Still, his jersey is one of my favorites that I ever owned, but I don't think there is a "hoes be trippin'" defense that is going to work here.

Authorities say Meggett was arrested Tuesday and charged with raping a 21-year-old woman in her North Charleston home. Meggett was free on bail for charges of raping a 17-year-old in September in North Charleston. He was serving probation for a 2006 sexual battery charge in North Carolina (Boston Herald)."

Damn this guy was one of my favorite players in the NFL, and now he is just another stupid thug NFL player. Everyday I read stories about NFL players doing terrible things, and I just don't know why they are so out of control. Is it the sport? Is it where these guys come from? Is it just trying to keep "street cred"? I don't know, but I am getting really sick of these types of stories. Obviously he is innocent until proven guilty, but it doesn't look good when there are two young woman accusing you. Damnit Meggett...
