Remy Back Tomorrow

"Jerry Remy, the popular color analyst on NESN’s Red Sox telecasts, will return to the booth tomorrow when the club begins a series against the Yankees at Fenway Park. Remy has been on an extended leave of absence since early May as he recuperates from the effects of lung cancer surgery (Boston.com)."

I am glad everything seems to be going well for Remy. The cancer wasn't his biggest problem it was the depression that followed that delayed his return for this long. He will not be back full time yet, and will continue to split time with Dennis Eckersley and Dave Roberts (Roberts is terrible). Long term I would actually like to see them go with 3 guys in the booth. I think Eck should be kept long term. He does a great job analyzing the pitchers, and you add that with Remy's knowledge of hitters, and I think you got the best color guys in the game. It's just a thought, but that's what I would do.

Remy Looks Good In Return To Fenway

Remy looked good last night in his first return to Fenway since leaving with lung cancer. He was very open and honest, and said that he really hasn't been watching the Sox game on TV, because it makes him depressed thinking he should be at work. Eck has done a hell of a job, and may even be better then Remy, but to be honest I think they should go with a 3 team crew for NESN next season. Eck is all about pitching, and Remy knows his shit about hitting, so I think it would be a great combo. Anyways, it was good to see that he is alive, and seems to be improving. There is still no word on when he might return.

“When I got back to the ballpark, I thought, ‘Hey, this is home,’ ’’ said Remy.

Remy Has Cancer

Well I had been rumoring this around for a while, and it sounds like it is all true. Remy has cancer, and is dealing from complications in some cancer surgery that he had during the offseason. It is some kind of lung cancer from all the heavy smoking he does. I know DP will say something like "Good I hope he dies", but if you have had the displeasure of having to listen to other MLB commentators then you know Remy is one of the best. Is he a sell out, and is there way too much of him? Yes, but he actually does to his job well during the game, and has a great personality for the Sox. I hope he is able to recover, but we might be witnessing an end of an era for the Boston Red Sox. I wish you the best Remy...

A Great Remy Article

If you have some time today my cousin sent over a great article written by the same guy that wrote "The Assist" (Neil Swidey). Who is just one of my favorite writers right now. It is very long, but really breaks down who Remy really is. He is not like he is on air, and it is really nice to cut through all his "salesman" bullshit...so anyways give it a read and let me know what you think.
