Mark Turgeon accepts Maryland offer

After Gary Williams surprising departure from Maryland it only took them 24 hours to replace their legendary coach. The replacement will be Texas A&M's Mark Turgeon. Mark left a pretty cushy job to join the grit of playing in the ACC. The Aggies were going to be in the mix for the Big 12 title for sure.

I love when coaches leave from their comfort level and with UNC sure to be the cream of the crop next year, and also having to deal with Duke, Maryland is a ballsy gig to take.

I don't expect miracles next year, but this could be a 3 year process.

Mike Leach Would Be A Great Coach For Maryland

"One day after Ralph Friedgen coached his final game with Maryland, the school ramped up the search for its next head coach. According to multiple reports, former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach met with Maryland on Thursday. Two sources told the Washington Post the meeting went well (ESPN)."

This might be a perfect situation from Mike Leach. Maryland is not a powerhouse by and stretch, but they are in a major BCS Conference that could easily be taken over in a couple years. Florida State, Maimi, VT are all good but not great. I think this conference is ripe for the pickin' and Leach can get himself to major Bowl games quickly.

Leach has been linked to a lot of pro and college jobs, but if he is to stay in the college game I really think this could be a nice fit.

Maryland Teen Doesn't Age

Brooke Greenberg continues to baffle her family and doctors. At 16-years-old, Brooke weighs 16 pounds and stands 2 feet, 6 inches tall, MyFOXChicago reported. She can’t speak, but she can express frustration and happiness. In other words, Brooke’s body and mind are that of a toddler.

“Why doesn’t she age?” Brooke’s father, Howard Greenberg said on ABC News. “Is she the fountain of youth?"

Brooke, who lives in Maryland, still has baby teeth, and her bones are about 10-years-old. However, her hair and nails do grow consistently. Doctors think Brooke has a genetic mutation that inhibits her growth.

“Without being sensational, I’d say this is an opportunity for us to answer the question why we’re mortal, or at least test it,” Dr. Richard Walker of the University of South Florida told ABC News. “And if we’re wrong, we can discard it. But if we’re right, we’ve got the golden ring (FoxNews).”

This is crazy. She is 16 years old, and doesn't look anything over 2 or 3 years old. It will be amazing what doctors could find out from this. Does her organs and stuff age? How long will she live? Why did she stop aging at like 2 rather then earlier? No matter what this sucks for this little girl. It has to be frustrating as hell not to be able to communicate, but then again she probably doesn't know any better. Just a really interesting story, and I hope they follow up on this.

The picture above is her and her family celebrating her 12th birthday. Yea she is the one in her mother's arms...
